Model / Actor's name: Tarlan Parvaneh
Name: Dana Ibraham
Alter Ego: Noora (the Light)
Age: 15
Birthday: February 2, 2000
Alignment: Lawful Good
Height: 5'0"
Weight: 100 lbs
Hair: Black
Eyes: Grey
Physique: Dana possesses the straight, budding body of a girl of her age who is just entering puberty. While short, she is fairly thin, giving her a very small, but elegant appearance.
Training:
Raqs al-Ardh - Egyptian Sword Dancing: Dana has some moderate level of competence in this skill, and while she can be quite lethal with a sword, the particular form she was trained in was meant to be a dance for the sake of beauty, not of defense.
Muslim Upbringing: Dana was raised in a moderate Muslim household; when she turned 13 she chose to take on the Hijab over wearing the Niqab or a bare head. Her mother is often seen wearing a barehead while at work, but a Hijab at home/Mosque. Her religious roots are the basis for her power as Noora, the Light.
Multi Lingual: Dana speaks fluently several languages including, but not limited to, Arabic (her first language), English, French, Farsi, Russian and Persian.
Private Education: From a young age, given her parents' wealth, Dana was sent to private schools. Not only did the Ibraham's believe it offered their only daughter a better start at life educationally, private institutions also offered greater security. She was educated along side of the children of fellow UAE VIPs, international dignitaries and foreign business mogels.
Horsemanship: Dana is an accomplished dressage rider.
Archery: Dana was a member of her school's archery team prior to moving to Gotham with her parents. She shows great proficiency for the sport, but little passion.
Equipment:
Noor Stone - The source of her power, the Noor stone embodies one of the 99 Traits of Allah, in Noora's case, the ability to see people as they truly are, for better or for worse. As her powers and abilities develop, Noora will also learn how to shoot "light beams" and create barriers to protect herself/others from attack. As it stands now, she has little control over her powers and will "see" into people's hearts with any and all physical contact. The final evolution of her powers will allow her to manipulate light itself, making her a very powerful force.
Cellphone - Every teenager's best friend. Dana has several phones, constantly looing/dropping/breaking them.
Description
Appearance:
As Dana Ibraham:
Dana is a fashionable young girl, though she's often seen in her school uniform which is comprised of a blue and green kilt and white shirt. In order to remain in her own mind modest, she wears opaque black tights under her skirt and a long sleeved option for her shirt, as well as a Hijab she and her mother custom made from a swatch of the school's tartan, embroidered with gold thread along the edge.
Outside of school she has grown accustomed to American dress, though she still wears her hijab, usually careful to match the scarf to whatever she is wearing (for instance, she has a black and yellow one for when her father takes her to Gotham Rogues games). She often wears blue jeans and t shirts with long sleeves underneath, or skirts with coloured tights under.
Her Noor stone is always on her body, around her neck, often tucked under her shirt out of the way.
As Noora:
The biggest difference is that as Noora, Dana does not wear a veil or headscarf. Her Noora costume is comprised of a red and gold tunic, and gold coloured trousers with red slippers. In this guise, her hair is clearly visible; it's a deep black that goes down past her mid back and is usually pin straight, without bangs.
Personality:
Dana is an exceptionally sweet, lonely young girl who wants friends, but cannot seem to make or keep them without buying them. She's naive, which often gets her used for her money and connections. Since developing her Noor Stone powers she has become less naive, though she does not want to become jaded as many heroes do. Given the choice, she'd rather believe in one person falsely than falsely accuse one good person.
Strengths:
Loyal - Dana is incredibly loyal, sometimes to a fault. She trusts her "friends" even when they may not be worthy of that trust.
Honest - Dana never lies, even little lies. It is why she was chosen as "the Light."
"Sees the Light" - She sees the good in every person, and in later life, she is able to use this gift to help rehabilitate criminals, finding what can inspire them to do good works. While in the future she will be able to read people without touching, and touch people without reading them, currently she can only see someone's Light when she has skin on skin contact.
Weaknesses:
Naive - Dana was sheltered as a child, and even after her kidnapping, making her very unworldly. She is naive, especially when it comes to boys/romance/relationships, though unlike many Muslim girls she is very aware of how babies are made, as her mother is a OBGYN.
Lonely - Dana is tragically lonely and desperately wants friends, which can lead to her being used/abused by those around her.
"Sees the Dark" - The antithesis of her being able to see the good is that she can also see the darkness lurking beneath the surface of people. She may be the only one to be able to find the darkness in heroes such as Captain Marvel, Wonder Woman and Superman. This terrifies her. Like seeing the light, this is currently an uncontrolled, touch based power.
Significant Relationships
Damian Wayne (Robin IV) - (School Mate/Crime Fighter) - Her first introduction to "American boys" was through one who is only half American. Damian is a few years younger than Dana, but they attend the same private school. She has not met him as Noora/Robin, though they have a budding friendship as Dana/Damian.
Nawaf Al Bilali (Jabbar - the Powerful) - (Member of the 99) - A member of the 99, a Muslim world version of the Teen Titans, Nawaf is like an older brother to Noora. He possesses the strength of Allah, a kin to that of Superman, and a pure heart. They are dear friends. She misses him.
Dr. Ramzi Razem - (Leader of the 99) - A surrogate father figure to Noora, Dr. Razem leads the 99, offering spiritual and practical guidance to the teens.
Ahmed Ibraham - (Father) - A wealthy businessman from Dubai, Ahmed loves his daughter and spoils her regularly. He moved his family to Gotham city when he was transfered to a different division of his company.
Dr. Fatima Ibraham - (Mother) - Fatima comes from a well educated, upper class background. She was a practicing OBGYN in Dubai and is currently working on obtaining her American accredation.
Vehicles
While Noora doesn't drive, she is often chauffered in her father's hired car. She also owned a horse in Dubai and wishes to have one in America as well.
Audition post
Dana's head swooned and she felt the twist in her stomach, both signs of the concussion she had suffered during the abduction. Her car had been blocked in, the driver killed and then... well, nothing. They had knocked her unconscious and transported her to another, unknown, location. She hadn't seen or communicated with any of her captors, but she didn't have to in order to understand what they were after. Her family was extremely wealthy - they wanted money.
The 14 year old sighed. Just like everyone else, she thought with a little bitterness. It had come to her as a shock when it was revealed that even her closest friends were only using her for the perks and benefits that came with being her friend. She knew her father would pay these men, but naive as she was, she wasn't so naive as to believe that would be the end of it. She had heard horror stories from girls in her class, also victims of kidnappings. She had no desire to be simply another statistic, but how could she escape?
"Noooooooora..." a voice, though to be honest Dana wasn't sure it was anything more than the residual ringing in her ears. That is until it called to her again. "Noora; Dana Ibraham, you are the Light."
"The Light?" she asked, aloud, seeing a small glow in the otherwise pitch black cell. She could feel the floor was dirt, so she crawled over to the light and began to dig, the glow growing brighter with each handful of dirt she clawed back.
"You are pure; you see the good in everyone," the deep, rich voice she was beginning to realise was Allah. "I will protect your Light, and you in turn will protect the Light of others."
She kept digging, finding a golden stone as the source of the glow. She cupped the gem in her hands and turned, the door opening. At first she felt her heart rate spiking, thinking her kidnappers had heard her and we're coming to get her. When after a few seconds no voices came through and no bodies passed into the light which bled into the room, Dana sighed with relief, whispering "Allahu akbar."
The tunnels were dimly lit, but thanks to the divine inspiration, Dana was able to find her way. "Oh no," she muttered, a frown turning her small mouth down as she found a dead end. "I can't go any further."
"Have faith," the voice spoke to her, gentle like a loving grandfather. "Push." And so she pushed. The light of day burned her eyes as she pushed a loose block from the wall, squeezing through it.
She all but fell through the narrow gap into the streets, dirty but free, her eyes turning up to see a man about her father's age in front of her. He extended a hand to help her up. "You are free, Noora," he said, noting the widening of her eyes. "Yes, I know who you are, Miss Ibraham - and if you wish to learn more yourself, after I reunite you with your family, we can talk."
"Who are you?"
"I am Doctor Razem, and you, my child, have been chosen as one of the 99."
