Equipment: Green Lantern Power Ring.
Powers / Abilities
Willpower
- A Green Lanterns ring and indeed their powers are fuelled by willpower which is the ability to control ones self and determine ones actions, keeping a good handle on their impulses. A Green Lantern must be steadfast in their will, indomitable, in order to access the rings powers. A Lanterns mind must be focused on the task at hand in order to correct achieve the desired result.
From the willpower fuelled ring, a Green Lantern is capable but not limited to, the following feats:
Energy Construct Creation
- A GL ring is capable of creating great constructs limited only by the users imagination and strength of will. A form of energy manipulation, the ring is able to take various energies and manipulate them into solid forms of green light. These constructs can vary in size and complexity, limited only by the wearer of the ring.
Flight
- By using several methods including directed molecular movement, a GL ring allows the wearer to fly. By creating an aerodynamic envelope around themselves, a GL is able to achieve speeds of up to Mach 10 whilst flying with the ring within a planets atmosphere, outside of an atmosphere (in space), a Lantern is able to achieve much higher speeds (speeds of up to 80% of lightspeed have been recorded.) A Lantern in turn, is also able to create a bubble construct in order to tow along a passenger whilst flying, but speeds are restricted to around 1440 miles per hour.
Phasing
-The ring allows a Lantern to phase through certain types of solid matter, such as walls. Different factors do come into play with this ability, including the strength of the Lanterns willpower and the density of the object in question.
Universal Translator
-Exactly what it says on the tin, a Lantern's ring allows them to understand any language in the galaxy, verbal or written, by translating it into the bearers native tongue. A useful feature that helps a Lantern fulfil their role as an intergalactic peace keeper.
Wormholes/Spacial Warps
- A Lantern's ring grants its bearer access to the network of wormholes in space, which rapidly cuts down on time and distance required for transport. Once again, this is a useful feature that ensures a Lantern is able to come from anywhere in the universe back to Oa with ease.
Material Alteration
- A Lantern's uniform is not made from any known fabric, in fact, it is created by the ring itself whenever the wearer wills it to appear. It will automatically appear over the bearers civilian clothing, and then disappears when the Lantern is ready to change back to their original clothing. Most uniforms will have a default appearance, but several Lanterns do take the liberty of adjusting their uniforms to suit their own tastes and personalities.
Emergency/Homing Beacons
- A Lanterns ring can, when its bearer is in distress, be used as an emergency beacon. The alert can be directed to a neighbouring sector, or, in dire situations, can be issued as a Corps-wide alert. The ring can also be used as a homing beacon, allowing one Lantern to track another, unless the bearer of the other ring has specifically instructed the ring to disguise its power signature in order to hide it from trackers.
Weaknesses
The following weaknesses apply to the Lantern Power Ring
Mental Instability Protocols
- If a Lanterns mental state is impaired (narcotics, neural interference, various other methods of mental incapacitation), it will render the wearer unable to use their ring due to their inability to remain focused on their willpower.
Yellow Impurity
-The light of a Yellow Lantern can corrupt the aura of a Green Lantern, draining their power ring. Rookie Lanterns (which Laira is not) are susceptible to the colour yellow which personifies the feeling of 'fear.'
Recharge
- A Lantern's ring is charged to a maximum of 100% and does not require another recharge until this number reaches 0. It is recommended that Lanterns get into the habit of recharging their ring whenever they are able to if it requires it.

Audition post
Again. Listen to the beat. One, two, three and switch. Four, five, six and strike. Laira, you need to pay attention to what your body is telling you in order to truly master these techniques. Now. Again. This time really listen to what your body wants to do and flow with it. Let each strike and step be a work of art. Express yourself through your skills.
"...Think she's even listening. Is she paying attention? OI! LANTERN!"
"Yeah! Come on you Ring wearing scum bag! What are you waiting for?"
"Scared of us huh? Just step aside! Let us inside so we can take care of justice!"
Drawn back to the present by the yelling of the small crowd surrounding the steps to the building, Laira and Ke'Haan trying their hardest to keep everything civil until the trial inside was over. But a lot of people weren't happy with this, they didn't think that the man currently being judged deserved the right to a fair trial. Neither did Laira if you asked her for her honest opinion, but that was the law of the land, and therefore she would stand, arms folded, guarding the small courthouse until the defendant was found guilty (more than likely) or not guilty (not at all likely.) Ke'Haan wore a passive expression on his large face, towering above most of the creatures in the crowd around them, eyes moving from one to the other, mentally scanning and cataloguing the faces of potential trouble makers. But that was the problem, the entire crowd was filled with nothing but potential trouble makers, each with their own little giveaway's. This one here, shifting from foot to foot, broadcasting their desire to rush forward and engage either of the Lanterns with each little nervous footfall. That one there, keeping their eyes downcast, hands hidden, clearly holding some sort of weapon underneath their clothing. All of these little tics that just broadcast their moves maybe minutes before they made them.
Never let your opponent know what your next move is. Keep your eyes fixed on a different point. No, not on me Laira, past me. Look at the vase on the shelf behind us... If your enemy catches your eye he can predict your next move. He can learn where you mean to strike before you do it. Keep them guessing, keep them forever on their guard and you will gain the upper hand. Now, again-
It wasn't the first time her father's voice had echoed through her memory, but it was the first time for quite a while. Since he had finally died, not just the "death" she had been told about by the Guardians, his words and advice had been unsurprisingly absent from her memory. Her first mentor, her first trainer and he had betrayed everything the Corps stood for, corrupting himself for what he thought was "right" and then finally died without honor. Never again. Laira would not let herself or her family be put through something like that again. Anger bubbled up inside her, making her shift uncomfortably. Focus on the man he had been Laira. The man who tucked his daughter in at night. Who, whilst he didn't agree with the ruling council of Jayd, still upheld the ideals of the Lantern Corps. The man your father should have always been.
So lost in thought, she apparently didn't see the bottle until it came flying towards her face, a bright green construct appearing before her eyes, almost temporarily blinding her in the shape of a large hand, catching the bottle as Ke'Haan looked over to her, raising a quizzical eyebrow at her apparent inattentiveness. But she hadn't been so lost in her thoughts. Merely concentrating on the point behind the man who had thrown the bottle, not looking directly at him.
If he kept this up, he wasn't even gonna know what hit him.
