Rogue Gallery: Present Day, 6 months after the Foundation of the League. On Board the Watchtower, All has been peaceful for a few weeks. Earthquake in California. Tornados in Tornado alley. All in all nothing to really be concerned about Until today. Doctor Fate was away in a mystical realm battling the agents of Chaos. In a matter of seconds an explosion rang through the city of Gotham, near main street. 10 Heavily armored men, with alien weapons were shooting up the city. It is unknown how they arrived, perhaps during the chaos of the explosion, there did not seem to be a real goal in mind. Simply kill everything in sight. Cars were destroyed with the slightest attack from their weaponry. Lasers blasting from the guns blasting through armored swat trucks. The apparent leader. Holding his hand up a blast would fire from his gauntlet and either crush anything in it’s path or send it flying into the atmosphere uncontrollably.-e-
Superman: Superman stood at a set of his computers in the Fortress of Solitude. Since abandoning his job and disregarding the emotional aspect of himself that some would call his "humanity" there had been a distinct increase in his efficiency. He arrived at situations faster, was able to deduce what actions to take in each situations 25.0027% faster rate, and with only taking his nutrition from the yellow sun radiation rays emitted by the sun he no longer felt the 3.5 millisecond drag when he woke up from sleep out of habbit 5 weeks ago. Tapping away at the keys, Kal-El's eyes scanned over the readouts as they flashed across the screen before the corner of his eye caught a red flash. Faster than any computer on Earth, or in the universe, could hope to pull it up, the screen showed the disturbance. There were massive energy fluxuations consistent with a teleportation portal. What was more, objects were splling out like a rush of from a split main water line. "hmm.." he muttered to himself and then tapped a crystal. In an instact, by linking up with various satellites that orbited space and wireles signals, he was able to in the span of a nanosecond, get a full picture of the situation. Superman recognized what was attacking the city for he had battled them before just after the death of Lana... Lang.. He whipped around on his red booted heel, hitting a button in passing to open the door to his Fortress before he took off clean from the ground, crossing the distance between the Arctic and Gotham in 10 seconds. He didn't want to arrive too early in case the army was planning on being struck instantly.
-Bruce Wayne stood before the audience of 800 people, dressed in a tuxedo on the wooden framed stage.- “…My father would be very proud of tonight and what *all* of you have accomplished here. The Wayne Foundation is…” -It was then an explosion caused his microphone to scream throughout the room, at which point Brucequickly took hold of it and turned it off and on again.- “I don’t know what that is but…” -Not a moment too soon, a window was destroyed and gunshots ran through the building the causing the men and women of the social event to flee. Bruce stood up straight as if ready to face those responsible for ruining the event clutching his fists to contain the anger within him, it was then his watch began buzzing and Bruce turned to slip off the stage.-“What is it, Alfred?” “Sir, it would seem like an unusual attack on Gotham from terrorists.” Bruce would tapped the watch and then said.- “I’ll pick the suit at Wayne Enterprises. Make sure the kids are safe.” -Alfred would nod solemnly.- “Of course, sir.” -Bruce opened a back door and began running towards his car. It would be but 7 minutes later that Batman would arrive above the scene.- “Sir, all of the young masters are accounted for and the Batwing’s arrival would be 10 seconds.” -Batman stood on top of a building observing the attack pattern of the invaders, studying their strategy and battle plan, or at least what he could. The Batwing arrived at which point Batman was ready to make his move. Batman’s hands held the Cryptographic sequencer to control the Batwing; he locked in an area and began moving. The Batwing’s missile pods opened and released a full arsenal of 24 hellfire missiles. The Batwing would then ignite its thrusters and strafe past the group of soldiers to jump out of range, Batman studied to see how the group reacted and recovered from the aerial assault.-
Flash: The Flash was sitting in his living room. He was having a relaxing Saturday morning. To start matters off, he woke up with the comforting presence of his girlfriend. He'd sat down, after having a wonderful breakfast with her, but unfortunately, she had to go to work. Barry Allen put his sock clad feet up on the coffee table. Finally, reaching for the remote, he turned on the ol' boob tube, and began to relax, hoping to catch some vegetational hours. He'd been on his feet constantly, atop of profiling three murders in Central City. Atop of that, Barry had almost been caught a few times by Iris. She had found one of the stashes of his flash rings, which held his costume. It required a better hiding spot. He'd moved them to their sock drawer, after sliding in a fake bottom on the drawer. It would take some time, for the news of Gotham to reach Central City news. More than likely, he would receive a transmission from Batman or anyone back at base. Flash would be one of the first called upon scene, for the sheer speed that he could make it there, to assist.
Black Canary: Dinah tapped her earpiece to communcation earpiece as she wove around traffic on her motorcycle. There was an expolsion in the heart of gotham and she could hear it from her day job, an little flower shop in an old corner of gotham. She was rushing as fast as she could. Police reports were starting to come in. "Watchtower? This is Canary. There was an expolsion on main street in gotham, I heard it. I'm closing in. Can you give me any details from your watchful eye? Could you please tell me how bad it is? Are there any other league members coming to aid?" she asked as she dodged a large semi and going through traffic that had stopped completely. It was a mess as people were trying to flee from the expolsion and whatever else was going on. She then saws the batwing over head and slowed to a sideways stop as she saw the missles being deployed. Bruce... Wayne tower was close to that area, he must already be on scene. "Batman, what is going on down there? Need some assistance?" Her voice ready and eager for a fight, her concern for her city clear. She revved her engine and took a round about way, using alleys to come towards the 'attack' from the side.
Green Lantern: Hal was sitting back in a construct reclinger, his feet balanced up on a table while he napped. There hadn't been any signs for weeks about anything coming, his sector had been quiet, Carol was still Carol, Sinestro was somewhere not around him, and the Watchtower's volunteers were working away. What'd that mean? Easy duty. Mouth hanging open a bit with his head tilted back, the Lantern slept peacefully... until a loud siren started and he jerked away and shot up into the air, pointing his Power Ring in all directions. "WHo what whoa!" A moment passed and he raised an eyebrow while one of the workers came running into the monitor room proper, "Green Lantern! There's an attack on Gotham City!" "Shit..." he cursed and shot forward, flying through the hallways to the command deck. The side of his fist hit the com button, "This is GL. What the hell's going on down there?" Releasing the button, he looked towards the Watchtower's crew, "Get me something!" while he tapped the ALL CALL button for the rest of the League.
Rogue Gallery: The Hellfire missiles were stopped in mid flight by the man wearing the gauntlet, who sent them crashing down on the legions of officers." The Bats here. Shoot 'em down" The other men began to fire towards the Batwing with their high powered alein weapons. As the missiles come crashing down on the police officers they are blow all over the street. " We're Intergang Batfuck, We aren't afraid of you!" They hadn't noticed Canary yet. HE opens his gauntleted hand to use on the cops who had survived the attack. reversing gravity on them they began to float upwards towards the sky. "Should keep'em busy."
Zatanna Z growled a bit and lowered her fork as she glanced at the radio. Always. It never failed- she came to Gotham and something always happened to interrupt her taking a damned day to herself. She could easily ignore it; turn off the radio and just return to enjoying the meal in front of her, have a bubble bath later, read a book or two...wait until it all blew over. This was definitely an option she could explore. But then of course she would have to deal with Kent lecturing her for the next week. If she was lucky and he ran out of things to say. Otherwise it'd easily be a month long bitch at Zatanna fest. Minimum. “Fine, fine,” she muttered to herself as the insistent news reporters on the radio discussed the men opening fire in the middle of the town. A few backward words and the meal would be safely housed in the ice box, and her typical lounging clothes were replaced by a more suitable uniform. Another few words and she would re-appear near the area; watching as the cops were lifted into the air, panicking. “nruter eseht nem ot rieht semoh.” No, this wasn't her fight, but it was causing chaos, and she did NOT want to hear Kent bitch. -d-
Superman: A sonic boom thundered across the city of Gotham, as a red and blue streak appeared across the sun filled sky. Intergang was here. The survey he made on his descent counted 45 total members assaulting the city. It was organized, attacking key points where they could make a definative stand against any onslaught with their limited number. "hmm..." with his eyes narrowed, Kal-El shot forward, barely a visible blur as he crashed down through a building they occupied. Seconds passed and the five within were disarmed, unsconscious, and wrapped up in a street lamp with their weapons hurled into space.
Black Canary: Black Canary thought about the last 6 months since the league had formed. Nothing as major as that behomoth that brought them together, but they had incidents. She was glad for the additional back up in some rather strange circumstance and was getting to know the other heroes. She knew a few had been struggling, like Superman, but he didn't really talk about it. She stopped her bike in an alley and crept to the end to prevent being noticed, just in time to see the missles being redirected blowing up officers. Her gaze was cold as she pushed a leg out, getting into a fighting stance. She saw the leader aim at officers making them suddenly fly up into the sky. Before she could react there was a flash and woman wearing a top hat was to one side, her eyes went wide. Wait... Zatanna? As in Zatanna the magician was here? she saw her chating and the men vansihed. Apparently she knew more than just tricks. She then saw a blue red blur and saw a bunch of the attacker bound in street lamp. She pushed them, all of them, out of her mind, focusing on the leader with the guantlet, he was the dangerous one and surrounded by guards. She took a deep breath and let forth a loud keening screech, sonic waves of sound washing over the attackers and their leader. Sliding cars nearby, bowling over the armed men, the blast capable of knocking some unconscious. as she stopped she quickly dashed to one side incase they fired back, running to take cover from a knocked over car that was closer to them, working her way towards the leader.
Flash: The Flash heard his radio go off, and he rushed at high speed, and inserted the earpiece. "Hey, this is Flash. There's an attack in Gotham? I'm on my way. Race you Hal?" Before an answer could be uttered, Barry Allen, the man known as the Flash rushed to his bedroom, and pulled the fake bottom out of his sock drawer, grabbing one of his rings. He pushed a small button on it, and his uniform shot out of the ring- the chemical mixture he'd strunk the suit with was an isotope bond, which bonded better with the hydrogen in the air, making a harmless gas when released. In a blink of an eye, he'd dressed into his outfit, and had placed the fake bottom back within his dresser. He barrelled out of his house, only to turn around, almost forgetting about Iris. He wrote a quick note, that he was called in, and would be back in later. In a blaze of adrenaline and speed, the Flash took off, arriving in Gotham City mere minutes later. He pressed on his earpiece. "Flash here, I'm in Gotham. Where am I needed?" He addressed to the group, expecting an answer from Batman. Before an answer could be heard, a space-age weapon was fired off, and Flash dodged it with time to spare. "You're gonna want to put that down, before you take someone's eye out. Namely your own." The soldier who he didn't recognize aimed down the sights towards the Flash, only to see a fist coming to the scope. The Flash punched the scope of the weapon, causing a cut to form above his eye. A second, speed powered upper cut followed, to incompasitate the man. Once he seemed to stay down for a moment Flash pressed down again on his intercom. "Also.. who are these guys? Anyone have any intel?"
Green Lantern: Hal waited for Canary to respond, tapping his fingers on the console as he waited. When no response came, he cursed under his breath and looked around at the civvies on the tower. "Do we have anything yet?" he called, fists clenching as he stood at the desk. Almost all aspects of the joker he tended to be were gone, replaced by a seriousness that few were ever able to see from him. "Sir! Flash just called and he is on his way now! We have confirmation that Superman is there as well!" "What about Wonder Woman"! "We have nothing yet." "Dammit..." he cursed, his eyes on the screen as the fights spread out over Gotham. "I've got a bad feeling about this..."
Wonder Woman: The men facing off against Dinah outnumbered the blonde haired song bird, not that there was any strength in their numbers. The ones who managed to remain on their feet were beginning to regroup, trying to out flank the Black Canary by using the damage in the street to their advantage. Crouching to get a more stable aim, they stopped moving. Bad Move. A soft golden glow surrounded the four men, and before they could react to it, the cord synched tight. The men were drawn up, off their feet, bodies colliding with each other as they were hauled up from the ground. Amid the curses and confusion, their weapons were dropped. When a little sense had returned, their eyes drew up, going up the golden cord to the one holding it. Holding her lasso with her left hand, her right resting on her hip, Diana, Princess of the Amazons of Themyscira, quirked a dark eyebrow. Wearing the ancient armour of the Amazon, emblazoned in the colours of the country her Mother had somewhat adopted during World War II, Diana floated soundlessly above them. Shaking her head she moved over to the alley where Dinah's bike had been parked, depositing the men in one of the dumpsters, letting the lid close. Her grip was more than enough to twist the latch beyond use; the police would need a torch to take the twisted chunk of metal off, or remove the pin hinges. Long story short: Getting out from the inside was not going to happen. She settled back on her feet next to Dinah, "I got the call. Sorry I am late; I hope I didn't miss the fun."
Batman-Batman’s eyes widened as the missiles, previously in his control, were suddenly redirected, quickly Batman tapped a button on the Cryptographic sequencer and activated a self destruct on each missile causing them to explode in mid air before reaching the police, however; the blast would intimidate and cause the police to retreat. Batman listened to Black Canary and spoke over the Justice League intercom.- “Whoever they are, they call themselves “Intergang.” They just took my missiles and turned them back against the police. Superman and Black Canary are on the scene.” -Batman took note of Zatanna’s presence, but didn’t comment nor inform the League to her presence. He tapped his wrist console to speak with Alfred.- “Alfred, I want you to send a message to Commissioner Gordon. Have the police fall back to surround the parameter. Let him know that *we* have this taken care of. Have them focus their efforts on evacuating civilians from the battle zones.” Batman would observe the men below and begin to think to himself.- ‘Who are these men? Why are they here and what do they want?’ -No sooner did he ask those questions did he hear Flash speak on another communication channel. Batman spoke to broadcast across the Justice League.- “They call themselves Intergang. They are using advanced non-Earth based equipment. They don’t seem to have any motive than to cause as much chaos and damage as possible. It could be a distraction from something bigger. Flash and Wonder Woman have just arrived.” -Batman reported once more, his tone was refreshed and soft despite the rage building up inside him.-
Rogue Gallery: The sound of thunder in the distance erupted from nowhere. This sound boomed through the streets of the city. Then another, and Another. No lightning, from a clear blue sky as one massive portal opens over the city. Parademons began to flood the city, from both ground and sky level. The Intergang members smirked." Guess what You guys are fucked..The Boss is comin." The Parademons began to attack civilians, ripping them limb from limb, flying up and dropping them fto the ground. Their claws cut through flesh like a hot knife through butter, nearly 200 of them all together. When a group finds the men with the Apokoliptian weapons they fly down and begin slaughtering the Intergang members right infront of the Justice League. They look around seeing the heroes."..BBRRUUGS?! They attack like Hornets unrelenting as they try to cut down the group with Batman. One goes after Batman directly, another 6 go after Diana, and Canary. One goes after Zatanna trying to slice her in half.
Zatanna Z: She was beginning to think that staying in her home and enjoying her lunch might have been the better plan. The portal opened above them, and she watched as creatures dropped to the ground, leaving a swath of dead bodies in front of them. Always a good day for an invasion. She evaded the swing from the one that came directly torward her, hands lifting reflexively as she moved. “nrub.” She willed the thing to catch fire in front of her, unsure what they really were, but fire tended to effectively manage most things.
Superman: The Man of Steel darted towards another group of eight, barely a gust of red and blue as windows were shattering from the force of the speed he was moving. There was not a single milisecond wasted in dealing with each of the Intergang members that he came across. He knew them very well although only just recently having discovered where it was that their technology came from, but five years of dealing with the syndicate off and on taught him very well how dangerous even the punks that couldn't form a full sentence without a curse word could be. Shooting up into the air, he hovered over the city for a few moments, gaining his bearings and to get a better sense of the situation. Of the League, all were here save for Doctor Fate, who he knew was dealing with his own threats, and Green Lantern who had duty on the Watchtower. One other was here that he did not expect... Zatanna? There was a twing in his chest but he quickly buried that away. That was part of the life he had to turn away from. Where he'd lost... His 3 second time spent scanning the entire city let him find the most appropriate place to move next... before the portal opened and the parademons began to pour out. Superman's eyes began to glow and a wave of red energy shot for, spreading across the sky.
Black Canary: Dinah heard men approaching her, knowing she would be flanked soon, she had to wait for them to get closer. She then caught a glow out the corner of her eye and saw lasso quickly bring the men together, dropping their weapons in the process as they were lifted up into the sky. She smiled as she looked up at Wonder Woman watching her trap the men inside the dumpster. She smirked a little, amused as Diana lit next to her. "You are just in time Princess. Thanks for taking out the trash!" Dinah looks about as she hears thundering booms and sees the massive portal open up above them when large creatures started to fly down tearing apart anyone it their path. Her eyes widen as they killed their own people, great some kind of death machines that didn't care who they killed. Or they didn't like failure. She tapped her earpiece. "Just caught my breath. Teamed up with Wonder Woman. Things are getting bad. A portal opened and clawed monsters are tearing up all sides. Out." Black Canary met Wonder woman's eyes nodded and dashed towards the closest monster that was coming at her. She jumped onto the hood of a car, ran up to its roof and did a flying kick into the creature's face, pushing off it, turning around to land on the hood of the car again, crushing it a bit, two of the others were coming at her. She couldn't fight two of them at once, they easily dwarfed her and looked like they were made for strength. They were too close. She took a breath, whipping out a foot for balance and sang for the beasts, it was quick and short, A quick burst to drive them off. At this close of range she could kill a man or make him permenently deaf, she had no idea how it would affect these monsters.
Flash: The crimson speedster couldn't help but look to the sky, and spotted what seemed to be a dark cloud. From it, monsters- demons came through, and tore through humanity. None on the streets stood a chance. "Anyone got a really big bug zapper?" Flash spoke into the active com, more than likely to recieve a "not now, Flash." Flash was careful with the some-what humanoid creatures. Their sharp death, and deviled like horns- or was that their ears? Regardless, for all he knew they could have been mutated humans. With the adrenaline kicking in, The Flash dropped in his stance. "If you can, grab onto something." Flash spoke aloud on the com, giving a warning to any nearby. "Here goes nothing. The Flash took off running, though no where in specific. He ran in a fast circle, at speeds well over Mach 10. The winds around the Flash began to change, and the Flash began to suck the creatures that were airborne, and those close to him, and attacking civilans to be sucking into the vacuum that the Flash was creating. Some of the creatures would accidently bump into, and stab one another as the Flash sucked them into the whirlwind vacuum. He didn't get all of them, not by a long shot. But, still, there were atleast fifty of the creatures suck within the air. Once they were trapped in the vacuum, it became time to do something with them. Directing the whirlwind was no easy feat, even for the Flash, as he ran in circles, keeping his eyes on the inhuman creatures, unsure what he wanted to do with them. Knocking them unconscious was a start. He managed to bring the mass of creatures all the way down to Wayne enterprises, and into the parking garage. Now that he had them sustained, he'd reverse the effect. A complete 180, and running the opposite way at the same speed flung all of the parademons under his control into the concrete walls of the parkade. "Get indoors, and shut down the elevators. Lock them all." He'd commanded to the security personel, before getting back on the radio. "This is Flash. Dealt with a mess of bugs. Anyone else need help?" Either he'd knocked the creatures out, or he'd even killed a few of them accidently from impact, but the area was safer, and Gotham tower was warned, and secured.
Wonder Woman: "By Hera," Diana was nearly breathless as she stared at the hordes of... creatures for lack of a better word... swarming through the streets of Gotham. A few had come up on her and Dinah, and Diana's initial instinct was to take point, until she remembered the sonic siren behind her. She turned to watch Dinah taking care of things on her own. A smirk pulled on her lips; it seems that her mother's stories about the original Black Canary was holding true to her successor. Best hold up her end of the bargain. Diana had watched Dinah take out three of the beasts, leaving three for the Amazon; how considerate. A smirk pulled on her cheek as she slid to the left of a slash, catching the creature by its arm. Using their combined momentum, Diana spun, releasing it when she reached suffiecent speed. The mass was hurled first to the exposed under carriage of an over turned car before sliding into an abandoned city bus, rocking the bus with the impact. The car screeched before rocking, falling on the beast. Diana's attentions were already moving on to the next target. Keeping her body rigid, she took a step forward before launching herself into the air, her hands coming down to the pavement. Her body inverted she was able to push off her hands. Her knees gripped the beast's head, one either side. Again, momentum worked in her favor as her body continued to arch and she was able to pull him right off his feet. The beast would be slammed onto its back before Diana righted herself. Pulling her lasso from her hip, she wrapped the final creature's sharp claws tightly together before turning her back to it, pulling down sharply, using not only her upper body strength but also her legs to pull it over her shoulder, towards the ground. "Black Canary?" She called for her "partner," knowing that aside from her scream, Lance was just as mortal as any of the civilians. Her blue eyes turned the scene over trying to find the blonde bombshell. "Watchtower; do we know what these things are yet?"
Green Lantern: Watching everything across mutliple monitors, Hal did his best to keep up with everything. Calls were coming in from the White House, Pentagon, some random General from Whiteman calling and trying to send bombers. This was not him. Standing back and monitoring everything while others fought on the front lines. "Damn," he cursed again as he disconnecting this last call, watching the others battle. "Ring, what the hell are these things?" They are knowns as Parademons. Coming from the existence known as the Fourth World, they are the main shock troops utilized by the godlike, despot called Darkseid. "Who is Darkseid? "He is an extremely powerful being, genius commander, and ruthless. Clenching his fist as the ring finished. Tapping the com key, he answered, "They're called Parademons. Some kind of creatures that're just going to keep getting thrown at us."
Batman: -Batman’s attention diverted to the sky as a large portal opened and Batman’s eyes narrowed onto it while taking a step back to allow his arms to fold underneath his cape making him appear like a large shadow defying the laws of the light. Just then the swarm appeared of Parademons that rushed towards him.- ‘Gold plating armor connected to their skin. Serrated claws and teeth, flight capabilities, enhanced strength…Most likely.’ -Batman analyzed the demon for as long as possible before moving into action. Batman waited to see what attack the demon would strike with each passing second of anticipation, Batman’s heart began to race, images of the large dinosaur came back to him, recalling the sting, the pain of being struck by the monster, its agility was incredible. Batman was almost completely unaware that his left hand had equipped three Batarangs and his right hand grabbed a snap flash. Once the demon struck out towards Batman, Batman dived to the side, strafing the creatures attack, his teeth came to bear as if a wild animal snarling in retaliation to another predator; Batman did not see this as prey nor hunter; it was simply an invading predator hoping to claim territory as its own. Batman’s wrist flicked towards the creature with ninjitsu trained technique of precision and speed, the batarang would swirl towards the creature at 90 miles per hour aiming to strike an exposed piece of its flesh on its arm, the blades would likely puncture and rend the creatures flesh as they burrowed into the creatures skin.-
Rogue Gallery: The Parademons were cannon fodder. They died in the dozens against the heroes, Superman burned multiple dozens at once. Canary’s scream caused deaths of the two she was after, The other heroes ended their enemies quickly as well. Only a small group of the parademons had survived the onslaught in the entire city. Though their numbers still did not match the number of civilians they had taken this day. Suddenly just as the heroes began to think they had won.<BOOOOOOOOOMMMM!!!”> High in the air, another Boomtube opened. A stoney skinned blue clad monster with glowing red eyes exited the portal, looking down on the heroes. He was large much larger than any of them He stood about 8 feet tall. His hands were behind his back as he stepped forward. The glow from his eyes became brighter as they flared only a moment. He scanned the heroes there Not smirking, not gloating about how they would all die screaming. Darkseid had come to earth again He glanced between the between the small group once more before released his hands to drop to his sides. “How Quant….” the glow in Darkseid's eyes faded." Is this all your world has to greet it's new God?"
Superman: When the boom tubed opened up, Kal-El paused for just a moment. He was ready for anything that might next step from the portal to Apokolips for he had battled and defeated its lord. Whatever he might send, he would not shy away from but... he... came himself. Hovering in midair above the city's rooftops with the sounds of explosions and screams resounding below him, emotion began to course through him again. There were two that, no matter how emotionaly shut a Kryptonian could feel, in extreme situations could be felt: love... and rage. Zod proved the latter with his actions... and now so was he. "Darkseid!!" he shouted, the force of the scream erupting in a powerful concussive shockwave that put even Black Canary's Sonic Cry to shame. Then very next milisecond, he darted forward but for those whose minds could not process the near half a mile he crossed would be left with seeing the after effects after he was already almost on the despot and the sonic boom from his flash forward shattered windows for blocks and cracked the tops of roofs. His right fist raised, his eyes burning with rage... he was just a foot from him... ready to strike before a blow from a yellow gloved fist sent him reeling off to the side. Instead of a shout of pain, all that came from Clark was, "Nooo!" Stompa dropped down on him from above, her weight and her dropsending them both flying to the ground in seconds, a crater formed in the middle of the street as she hppped off and Guilotina came running towards him.
Wonder Woman: She parted ways with Canary as the blond bombshell joined Zatanna and Flash in keeping the civilians stuck in the fray from danger. Diana heard Superman’s voice above the din of destruction along with the sound of the boom tube opening. Her head twisted and before she had even quite registered a desire to go, she was following the sound. As the Amazon arrived, she saw only a blur, the streaking red and blue of Superman dashing into danger as heroes are wont to do. His forward trajectory suddenly halted, instead taking on a plummeting downward angle. Diana was caught a little aghast, though her shock lasted less than a second, for the Amazon it felt like minutes, hours, ticking by as the Man of Steel was crushed into the pavement, sending chunks of rock and debris flying. Damage control set in as Diana darted to prevent a piece of ashfault the size of a midsize sedan from crushing through a building front where people still foolishly gathered to watch. She set the debris aside, shouting at the crowd to disperse, to fall back. She would issue a request for Flash to manage this problem, he was far better equipped for this, allowing Diana to move on to things she was better suited to. The dust was beginning to settle, and in addition to the one who had taken out Superman, Diana’s eyes spotted another form. Both looked decidedly female, not that gender played a role in Diana’s perceptions; she merely hoped that her compatriots would hold the same view. She charged forward at the second woman (Guilotina), not liking the odds of two on one, even if the one was Superman. <e>
Steppenwolf: "Oh I don't think so, Amazon," would come a voice from overhead and a blast of energy that disentigrated the a five feet area in front of Wonder Woman. A powerful, dark armored figure stood on one of the roofs, but only for a moment before he dropped, raising his long handled sword above his head and bringing it cleaving down towards the woman. The New God knew that Amazons were well trained, but he was one of Lord Darkseid's General, his greatest, and the moment his feet touched ground his left hand would part from the sword's handle and he would aim the space between his thumb and forefinger at her throat and jamming it hard before his right hand brought his sword to the left in a flash to try and decapitate her.
Green Lantern: The Parademons continued to pour out of the portals and Hal was left standing on the Watchtower feeling helpless. He could do so much more than just standing here, coordinating with all the League below. His fists clenched and he could only imagine the number of people dying down there. Finally, he had just to do something. HItting the com button, he contacted Batman, "Listen to me, before you say anything. I know this is your town but look.. there's about 845 of those damn Parademons on your city. Flash, Canary, and the fishnet chick are doing their best but it's not enough. And you're the only one of us without powers. This isn't arrogance... this is me having the ring and you telling me where to point it. I need to be down there... and we all need you up here."
Batman: -Batman watched as Darkseid finally appeared; a thin seal of his lips traced his face as his jaw was relaxed after having dealt with the Parademon. Batman felt the buildings shake and a sonic scream from Superman before he had time to even look at the Man of Steel; a gust of heavy wind swooshed past him leading a symphony of serrated glass fragments singing in chimes as they showered over the city, pieces were landing on Batman and flaking off of his cape like sandy grains pouring out of an hour glass. Batman then had his attention diverted to feel a tremor within the ground. Wonder Woman had caught some debris that had flung from the ground a large chunk of asphalt that took Batman’s attention for a moment before he came to see the smoke clearing around Superman as he was attacked by Stompa and Guilotina. Batman simply watched, allowing microprocessors within his cowl to gather information and data on the unfolding scene. A clear layer of polymer glass lens revealed information that was being gathered by displaying it before him, air temperature, radiation levels, and wind speed, occasionally he had the display track his vital signs, however; he found it wasn’t important compared to other information that he would need. His attention fell onto The General as he appeared and initiated against Wonder Woman, Batman’s eyes narrowed for a moment when Green Lantern spoke in his helmet. Batman tapped his helmet and spoke.- “This is not an issue about Egos. If something goes wrong, someone needs to be left as the last line of defense.” -Batman stated, clarifying that Batman didn’t have an issue with the heroes jumping into action.- “Flash and Canary can handle the demons, Lantern. Superman and Wonder Woman could use some support, what’s left of the demons are being dealt with. Superman is being double teamed and the
leader is remaining stationary. I don’t want artillery, Lantern, however; some support, now. Would be helpful.” -Batman spoke in an urgent tone, a verbal game of chicken almost daring Green Lantern to call Batman’s bluff about the urgency of the situation. Batman looked overhead and watched as the parademons moved about ravaging everything in their paths, a couple flying overhead and past him, never the less Batman remained paranoid and kept his guard up. He refused to respond to Lantern’s statement that he was ‘needed” on the watchtower.-
Rogue Gallery: Darkseid stepped forward looking at Batman who was now alone. Darkseid was taller and much wider than Bruce, He looked down to the human.” A human in the guise of a rodent, how amusing.” The deep voice of the red eyed god spoke loudly for all to hear. He placed his hands behind his back and continued to move closer to Batman stopping about 2 feet from him now. “ You believe that anything you can do will make a difference human? You protector will die, The amazon will die. The speedster, and women will be crushed beneath the sheer numbers I have thrown into your world. Stand down and I will not force you to watch your world burn as I will Superman.”
Superman: He groaned, shaking his before he raised his head up. WIlling himself into the air, he flew back from Guilotina as she ran but from behind another, Mad Harriet, came charging across the ground and slashed his skull from behind. Blood dropped to the ground as he immediately ceased flying and hit the ground, clutching the back of his head and wincing in pain. As he forced himself up to his hands and knees, he turned and narrowed his eyes. Not again. He would not fall for this again. Clenching his fists together, Superman waited as Guilotina came running, then quickly shot into the air, twisiting his body and uppercutting her with his right fist hitting squarely in her jaw and sending her flying. Wait.. he thought to himself. Not again.... His ears caught the sound of being displaced above him and he darted backwards, Stompa landing in front of him and his hands quickly shot up, gripping the back of her head and yanking her backwards to meet with his rising knee that launched her across the street.
Batman: -Batman came to watch as Darkseid came closer, Batman allowed his hands to drop to his sides as he took hold of a smoke pellets and a batarang, just in case. Batman would then simply state.- “With all this power, you choose to do nothing except create chaos and bloodshed against innocent lives…I’m hardly impressed. There are billions of planets throughout the galaxy capable of sustaining life…Why are you here?” -Batman’s blue eyes locked with the stone formation of Darkseid’s face; he was in fact a very unattractive creature with a personality like most criminals; that much Batman was certain of, somewhere within this whole charade of an assault, Darkseid had a plan for being here. -
Wonder Woman: Her eyes cast upwards, catching the glimpse of the warrior crushing down upon her. Without word or warning her body responded in a manner as effortless to the Amazon as breathing; she twisted her shoulders and hips, her body rolling out of the way of his downward slash, but not entirely out of danger, not yet. The rotation of her body brought her at an odd angle for his hand to come to her throat, but her hands, fast and fluid, came to protect her as if his attacks were no different than any other challenge. The left was meant to block the attack for her throat while her dominant arm, the right, braced against the downward sword. The shackles on her wrists were nigh unbreakable, not by man or God, so she thought nothing of using them to draw the attack from the unknown assailant. What she should have thought more about the man’s strength. It was not by accident that she had crossed her arms left over right, so as to draw the sword harmlessly trapped between the two bands of divine metal. It worked, somewhat. It held the attack from separating her head from her shoulders, but it did not remedy the situation. She was able to catch the blade on the bracer, sparks leaping from the clash. Diana’s muscles coiled as she slowly began to twist, trying to keep the control she had gained. Her body rolled with the draw of his blade, shoulders twisting and arching away as she controlled the direction with one arm, the speed somewhat with the other. Her wrists which were “x”ed over her front snapped together, closing a defacto “trap” for lack of a better word on the blade. Allowing her to momentarily stop his onslaught. To prevent losing her hand, she dropped her arms quickly, her left shoulder dipping lower than her right as the right arm and shoulder moved backwards. Her wrist curled to reach back towards her assailants wrist in order to control his hand. If she purchased grip, her hand would tense tightening her grip. She didn’t need to hold him for long, it would only take the Amazon a matter of seconds to do what she wanted. With her left hand gripping his wrist, her right would quickly snap forward, the flat of her palm aiming for the point of his elbow, the effect to force the joint backwards, utilizing a natural flaw in most plate styles of armour that had to allow for a wearer’s movement. Once the joint was compromised, Diana would push backwards off his body to put distance between the combatants. If her grip was unsuccessful, her body would continue to roll, heedless of the attack on his limb but still focussed on putting a foot of distance between them. The amount of space wasn’t important, what was important was that the turn of her body, the control of the draw of the blade, it all worked to put Diana at Steppenwolf’s back. She could hear the discussion going on between Green Lantern and Batman, and were she not busy with more important matters she would perhaps pay more attention to the minor battle of wills being played out as they chose their pecking order. However, she was
otherwise occupied.
Steppenwolf: There was time. Even as the Amazon brought herself towards his body he had time. After all, she was foolish enough to leave his left hand free and clear to while she used both of her bracers to hold his sword from parting parts of her body from the main. However, when she grabbed his wrist... the General had to take pause. "You cannot..." his words ceased as she attempted to appy Earthly methods of attacking an armored foe to one from a culture millenia ahead of Earth when they were first entering the Bronze Age. As she moved to step back, Steppenwolf lowered his sword just a bit and an destructive blast of energy exploded from his blade towards her back. "Foolish, Amazon. You thought a mere slap and a weakness of your world's armor enough to shatter the join of a New God?! Pah!' Gripping the handled of his sword with both hands, he slashed it at a downward arc, a wave of the same energy arcing forward and cutting up the ground before he slashed upward and right, sending out another arc before he immediately began to run behind it. He led with an upward slash with the back of the sword. If she once more crossed her bracers to block it low, it was a simplematter to drop his stance and lead the back of the blade up along the metal before pulling up and back on the blade with the bracers acting as the pivot that would bring the angle of the blade down her front. If she sidestepped away to the left or right, Steppenwolf would rush with a shoulder strike towards her, attempting to bully through her guard. If she was on his left side, he'd strike down towards her face with the pommel of the sword, trying to stun her before he brought a knee up to her stomach. If she was on his right side, he would spin towards her, bringing the blade to his waist height, tip angled towards her and he would thrust it forward, just witin her reach before angling it to the left, slashing low towards her lead thigh. If he cut, then he would drag the blade along then bring it back along the arc of attack in reverse, cutting the otherside of her thigh.
Rogue Gallery: " Fine, Rodent I will humor myself, by humoring your inferiority comeplex. " Darkseid crossed his hands behind his back looking down at the tiny mortal." I am Darkseid, A new god and ruler of the planet Apokilips. " He continued to stare at the creature before him with a devilishly evil smirk." A short time ago, I was on your planet appeared as one of you. Superman opposed me. For this insult I destroyed the woman who tried to save him. Later he found a way to my home, ripped through my armies until he arrived in my palace. There He insulted me further, Now I have come to even the score once again. Stepphenwolf will kill your Amazon for the fun of it. And my furies will insure that Superman suffers much more before I slaughter his world. I did after all give my word to kill many more humans before I am finished." Darkseid thought for a second and said" Now human will you accept my terms. I might allow the Furies to keep you as a pet, if you kneel and swear fealty to me." The god stood there looking down on the Bat for another moment.” To late to answer I am afraid.” Darkseid used his enhanced reflexes to backhand Batman from the roof, Ofcourse with Darkseid’s unrestrained strength the Bat would likely fly through the nearest building with no pause for the concrete and steel structures that covered this world that was seemingly made of paper to the god.
Superman: With Stompa now down there were two he knew he still needed to deal with. "Die Kryptonian!" Shouted a woman above and he quicky turned his head and a milisecond later darted up into the air as a blast of yellor energy hit the ground below his position. "Not agan ( www.youtube.com/watch?v=xJ9-zv8YUvo ) He shot forward with speed, faster than she could hope to match. The shockwave shuddered the world as Clark reached the woman, his left hand wrapped around Barda's throat. "You... You kept me from saving her..." anger... love lost... pain... it all welled up inside of his heart again. He was at the brink.. .“When people see what you can do. When they see how powerful you are, they're going to be terrified. A mask would only add to that. They'll need to see your face, so that they can see there's no evil in it... To see the gentleness and deceny in you...and know that they have nothing to fear. The mask --the mask is what you'll have to wear the rest of the time...“ Ma's voice echoed in recesses of his mind as he shouted in agony and slammed his fist clean into the face of Barda, knocking her three miles away. "You're not just different from every other man, Clark. You're more powerful than any other man in history... You're unique in all the world. Extraordinary. Not just any man. And more than just a man... A super-man...." Pa's voice came... stronger.. louder.. "Darkseid!!" his eyes burned the red of his heat vision, the energy leaking from the corners of his eyes like smoke from an inferno and he unleashed a sky encompasing blast of heat vision. The energy burned across the Parademons filling the air in his sight; but his lack of focus on his present threats cost him. First Mad Harriet raked her claws along his back, splitting his suit and skin. Guilotina attacked from the front, opening his stomach with one slash of her blade and finally Stompa came up from beneath him, her head coming up between his legs as she literally powerbombed him back to the street, the power tearing it up for blocks. Lying on the ground, bleeding as his body burned the solar energy within his cells to heal, Pa's voice came to him once again... "When we say 'I won't take this anymore,' that's when we know who we are and what we'll tolerate. Until we're tested, we don't know those things. That's when we wake up. That's when we know who we are. That's when people will show up and take your side. When you decide what it is you stand for, when standing is the hardest." "But I don't know what I stand for anymore... Pa... I..." His eyes closed as the Furies surrounded him. This was it... he'd been broken. Opening his eyes again Clark knew that the man he was behind both masks wasn't strong enough. Solid enough in.. A glow appeared at the edge of the crater he lay in. The Furies continued to close in on him like wolves on dying prey, but he couldn't take his eyes off the light as it started to form into a figure. No... it.. "Lana..." Her face... her eyes and lips and hair.. She smiled at him and then nodded. Instantly all the pain left him in both his body and his spirit. "I know. I remember now. Thank you..." The Furies were almost upon him, but his fists clenched together. In the next moment there was an explosion of force from the crater and the Furies were sent flying from the inside. ( www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rwa7SnKhqHA) Hovering above the crater for a moment, his eyes narrowed in focus as he peered across Gotham to locate the rest of the league. Wonder Woman battling one of the Generals. She could handle herself well. But Batman... "I'm coming.." In a blur that disappeared in a second, he shot forward again, his eyes on one target... but not for revenge. For the sake of Life.
Wonder Woman: “And you run your mouth too much,” she was caught by the energy blast and thrown backwards. Concussive force was something her body could withstand, at least it could withstand it far better than it could a weapon such as his sword. Did it hurt? Yes. Is it going to cause her injuries? Somewhat; the Goddess Demeter, Goddess of the Earth, Rebirth and Regeneration/Spring, had gifted the prize of the Amazons with some rejenative abilities. Her healing factor was not as significant as others, per say, but it would allow her to soldier forward and continue to fight. The acrid, iron taste of blood filled her mouth, and she spat out a wad of red liquid before turning her blue eyes back to her attacker. His second attack was too slow, she had time to curl her legs beneath her body and launch into the air, arching to her own right, opposite to the slash and his beam. Her body arched, controlling a head over foot tumble to force herself downward towards the man’s shoulders. Just as she forced herself upwards she was forcing herself downward. Her feet held tightly together she tensed her muscles but withheld her Amazon battle cry. By doing that she hoped to buy herself a few moments in the disarray caused by all of his concussive blasting, debris still showering around her as she came down.
Steppenwolf: The woman's feet hit his shoulders and sent him crashing backwards into the ground, cracking it from the strength and then being driven down half a foot into the earth half a second later. "Amazonian bitch!" he shouted, angling the blade towards her back and shooting another blast of energy to knock her off. Rolling to his side and planting his hand on the edge of the body like shaped hole he had been used to dig, Steppenwolf shot to his feet and slashed quickly before hopping up into the air to strike with a flying knee to her face then slashing his sword down towards her shoulder to take off her arm.
Green Lantern: More calls, more talks, more of everything he didn't want and none of what he wanted topped off by Batman being arrogant. He didn't understand... they had to push back Darkseid HERE and now. Any sort of foothold he had outside of the Forth World made it that much harder to defeat him and drive that bastard back to that hellhole filled planet he ruled. As the battle raged below, he had been using his ring to teach him all that the Corps knew about Darkseid, access the main power battery with the ring relaying the information to him. "Dammit, Bats, listen to-... "his voice stopped a as he heard the sound of a voice that could only be the New God. "Batman listen to me... get the hell out of there now. There is NOTHING from this planet, made by anything from this planet, that can hurt him. You can't hurt this bastard with a nuke! Get the hell outta there now!"
Batman: -Batman listened to Darkseid explain his history, but before Batman could respond he would feel his body slamming through metal and the aching of layers as concrete and steel weighed against his body. The titanium armor pressurized around his body in a tight formation and measure of “protecting” him. Batman slammed into a final wall and collapsed to the ground. His lungs were on fire, his cowl damaged and his cape torn. Batman coughed and felt a metallic taste of blood. His head felt light while his body was numb while it was evident that Batman struggled to maintain consciousness.- ‘Mother! Father!’ was the thought that raced through his mind. Bruce: ‘I’m going to die…’ Batman: “No. You’re not dead, yet. Get. Up.’ Bruce: ‘But…’ Joe Chill: ‘Give me your wallet…’ A Gunshot would chime through his mind as smoke clouded the area it was then Batman watched within his own memory Darkseid holding the smoking gun standing before the dead bodies of Thomas and Martha Wayne with a content smirk on his lips. Batman’s teeth began grinding against each other, serrated spikes of pain shot through his muscles, ulcers and blisters formed all over his body .- ‘Never…again.’ -Batman’s gums were bleeding, a crimson outline of his white and straight teeth. Batman felt his body trembling. ‘My body is in shock…it’s stubborn, but I have determination. I…can’t fail.’ Batman would force himself to stand on his knees and hands as he reached into his belt prepared to pull out a pain killer, but then he forced himself to stand up where he fell against a wooden desk.- ‘Darkseid wants revenge, to “even” the odds…That won’t happen. Earth is not a cosmic playground’ -Batman’s voice finally spoke calmly as he struggled to breathe.- “Lantern….I’m alive, but I’m in shock. Get down here and back up the League.” -Batman closed his eyes and tried to focus on battling his shock.-
Rogue Gallery: Darkseid's eyes began to glow from his vantage point seeing Batman fly throughthe building pleased him slightly." I am surprised you were able to get up from that attack. humans are so frail." He walked off the side of the edge stepping on his plateform and floating towards Batman." Come now Vermin. How do you plane on fighting me. When everything on your pathetic planet is so utterly fragile. Your building scream at my presence being here. Order must be brought to your world, and none can do so Save for Darkseid!" He continued to float towards Batman reaching the first hole and stepping through it walking towards Batman. " Time to die Rodent!" DArkseid ripped a steel beam from the building and threw it towards Batman's chest hoping to squash him against the opposite wall.
Superman: The wall across the way from Darkseid and Batman exploded in, but by the time that the debris from it traveled three inches, Superman was on Darkseid, his eyes glowing red and blasting the despot in the face to blind and stun him so he could plant his feet directly in front of him and strike a hard, left uppercut to the New God's stomach and send him flying. If he successfully struck the New God and knocked him away, he would landed and then kneel down beside the Dark Knight. Superman landed and used his x-ray vision on the man, nodding a bit, "You'll be alright. I heard the conversation and Lantern will be here soon." Standing up, he moved to the edge of the hole that he had created with Darkseid's body, paused and looked back at Batman with his eyes meeting the cowled man's face, "I'm back," and then he took off.
Wonder Woman: She was more prepared for the second strike, and using the Bracelets of Submission to her advantage she could almost hear the vow echoing through her head; the promise made before Aphrodite and all of her Amazon sisters, to never again allow herself to submit to a man. The blast shot her back, would bring bruises out on her wrist later, but otherwise was a simple annoyance. One thing it did do was knock her ear piece out, removing her from the conversation between Batman and Green Lantern. A weather eye remained on Superman, who seemed to have regained himself. Blessed Gaea, she thought to herself, losing her lasso from her hip. Her opponent was getting up, slowly but surely, and as he did, predictably, he continued talking. She had no time for banter, and even if she did, he was hardly to her taste. He was fast, she’d give him that, and his movements were fluid; he had been bred a warrior. So was she. Her eyes hardened as he came towards her, spreading her stance wider and bending her knees. She dropped her weight down, her hands hovering above her knees. When he came towards her, drawing his knee up, she clasped her hands together, straightening her body with her hands above her head. She brought the force of her arms, the down force being powered also by her shoulders, back and thighs, down against the attacking knee. From there, she released her hands, the lasso held between them as the length spread. In a flash of gold, her fingers would loosen, allowing for slack to form in the length. Her right arm straightened, throwing out the centre of the lasso to catch the sword. “You will not prevail,” she warned him, her blue eyes cold and icy as a winter sky, her voice taking on the same chill. "Even if we fall today, others will pick up the torch and carry on the fight." Letting her body lead left, she crouched, her weight shifting to his right allowing the blade to come down and find its home in the shattered pavement. Turning clockwise, the Amazon brawler swept her legs towards the General’s in an effort to bring him down again.
