Cassandra Colchis: The UN's had been having a rather intense morning session as the issue of World Wide threatening crises was brought up. First the Centre and then Darkseid had threatened the world with the possibility of invasion and destruction. Criticisms against the United State’s slow response time were brought up by several countries. Pointed arguments that a small group of vigilantes who have self-proclaimed themselves as protectors of the Earth, the Justice League, had swooped in and saved the day. This brought back the old arguments of the needed checks and balances on the League. The heated discussion was quickly curtailed by the Secretary General as being off topic and that members were bringing up resolved and closed issues. The most intriguing aspect of the session was when the Greek Ambassador spoke, Cassandra Colchis, she was new, unknown by most of the council. She stood out in a crowd, attention seemed drawn to her. (http://24.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_mdwg7sUHML1rnh763o1_500.jpg) She did not dress like the other female representatives, instead of a smart looking business suit, she wore a long sleek black dress, it was flowing down about her ankles but seemed to hug her and accent her curves. It looked better placed a high society dinner, than at the conference. The neckline had a unique slanted slope to it, which reminded one a little of a Greek toga. The dress was sleeveless and exposed her smooth olive toned arms. Instead of wearing her hair short or in a conservative bun or braid, she kept her long dark hair free and loose, cascading down her shoulders to halfway down her back. She stood with an elegant almost regal poise as she spoke. Although she was a newcomer to the UN she spoke with an authority and confidence that rivaled some of the most senior members. She pointed out that the Justice League should be praised for their dedication and courage to take on these crises. She criticized those who attacked the league, the group of individuals who saved more lives in six months then some countries did in years. But she cautioned about being lax with the duties of global defense. She proposed that the Security Council set up a new task force that would be diligent in monitoring potential worldwide risks and would be able to command response teams and control the defense systems in every UN country. Several of the male leaders were watching her transfixed, as if hanging on her every word. A couple of them fought to second and third the motion and delegates were quickly picked to form a committee to look into the possibility of such a task force, many of them the men who had been watching the charming and passionate Greek ambassador earlier. The motion passed and other business continued as usual. After the morning session ended and the UN Council adjourned for lunch a polished looking man with slicked back iron colored hair in an expensive black suit came up to Diana and waited patiently for her attention.
Wonder Woman: Diana had been fielding questions about the League, and was being pressured to reveal names she did not know to people she did not trust. “I am sorry, Secretary, I have not asked Superman and Batman what their day jobs are. I was too busy saving the world to chit chat about the mundane aspects of life,” she was starting to get short and snippy with many of the representatives. No matter how many times she said no, they would continue to pressure her for information she didn`t have, and even if she did have it, she would never release. Diana knew she was in a unique situation as far as the League went, or at least she had assumed as much. There were mortals among them, Black Canary and Batman for instance, who showed no real powers. Their lives would be shattered if their alter egos were exposed. Even the other powered individuals, Flash, Superman and Green Lantern, Diana had to assume they were protecting those they loved and cared about from harm. Diana’s situation was unique in that those she cared about were thousands of miles away, and even if someone from the United States or Canada dared try to invade Themyscira, assuming they could find it, they would be met with an Army as vast and strong as every soul capable of bearing a sword on the island, each trained with the same fervor as the Spartans had trained. No, she had no fear that her Mother could handle herself, and there was always her Mother’s “companion,” a God in the literal sense, fueled by the very machine that backed the world’s super powers. He had let his Queen down once, and the results were heart wrenching for both; Diana was confident that Ares would not allow Themyscira to fall a second time to the hand of a mortal Man.
She turned to see the Greek Ambassador, standing as if ready for a formal dinner party rather than a session of the United Nations. Diana smiled gently. “That was quiet an impassioned speech you made, Ambassador Colchis,” she said in Greek, nodding just a little to show her agreement with what had been said. “It takes great courage to stand up in front of so many, at such a tender tenure, and speak so passionately.” Diana was pleased with the support given to her by the Ambassador, though there was something a little off putting about the woman. The Amazon would chalk it up to her eccentric way of dressing for business, allowing her to brush off the feeling temporarily.
Steven Trevor: Screams of jet engines filled the air, roars of exhausts and wind break rumbled around the Boston military base in Gateway city, F-18’s flew overhead to perform drills and standard take off procedures, small vehicles moved about the airfield, troopers patrolled security locations, Officers were speaking to each other, engineers were talking over radios. “Sir?”
Steve’s attention flickered from the window to the sergeant with a nod. “Y-yes, sergeant? What is it?”
“You have General Dustin on line two, he’s at the Pentagon.”
Steve yawned and said. “Tell me this is better than watching these guys fly… I should be out there, I’m meant to have wings.”
The Sergeant smiled and stated. According to your rank, you don’t have wings yet, sir.” The sergeant smiled at Steve and left his desk.
Steve looked at his gold rank pin and frowned some in disappointment and then he picked up the phone. “General Dustin, Sir. How can I help you?”
It was the last call he got before arriving at the U.N dinner party, dressed in a typical business suit with a U.S.A.F security badge being the only thing marking the man as a military official. Steve’s blonde hair was cut short to his scalp; his shoulders were broad and straight while his height was easily six feet tall and one inch. He adjusted his tie and American flag pin on his lapel. He would spend his time shaking hands meeting people from all over the U.N until he finally met General Dustin. “Sir.” Trevor saluted respectfully.
“At ease, son.” The dark skinned man gestured for Trevor to follow along. “I see you’ve been making friends.” General Dustin commented to Steve.
Steve nodded. “I’m trying as you said. A lot of these people don’t seem to like me very much…Honestly sir, I don’t think politics is something I’m good at, maybe Sergeant-…”
“Major, I didn’t ask you hear to try and win an election…The U.N is talking about a global initiative and our administration would rather an American at the helm than some Arab nation.”
“A bit racist, don’t you think, sir?”
The General chuckled. “Oh, don’t make me have to go all politically correct with you, Steven. I knew your grandfather when he wore that uniform. I gave my word I’d look after you, take care of you. Here’s an opportunity for you to get ahead.
Steve nodded to General Dustin. “I won’t let you down, sir.”
Cassandra Colchis: Cassandra smiled back to the Themyscira ambassador, a hint of sly smirk lingering about the corners of it. "Thank you, very much your majesty." said politely back in Greek, seeming pleased to be speaking in Greek.
She gently touched the Amazon’s shoulder."And please call me Sandra, all of my friends do." she gave a gentle shrug of her shoulders.
"It seemed like the least I could do for you and the other champions; you have done so much for us all. Especially after all the pressure that has been put on you to reveal such sensitive information about your companions. Such things are a trifle compared to the new challenges we face." she gave a casual brush off gesture with one hand as she spoke what appeared to her to be such trivial matters.
"Besides I could not really help myself darling, I feel very strongly about the dangers threatening us and I have a feeling the real trouble is just beginning." Her dark eyes seemed to sparkle a little; they were a hazel color, brown with a fleck of red to them. She almost seemed pleased about facing these challenging times.
"And you can't leave such discussions and plans to the men, they would argue all day about their little treaties and benefits. It takes a woman's touch to get things done, do you not agree?" there was something about Sandra's Greek that would seem off to Diana, it felt old, old like her mother Hippolyta's Greek. The only hint was when she used an archaic word that hadn't been used in centuries, but that could be a regional dialect.
"Are you going to the dinner party this evening dear?" she asked casually, her manner more like addressing an old friend instead of a new ambassador she hadn't met yet.
Wonder Woman: Diana watched, feeling the heat of the other woman’s hand through her suit. Interesting, she thought to herself, also noting the seeming glee in the woman’s eyes as she spoke of the troublesome times that the world and its inhabitants were facing. She kept her face neutral, however, and remained her normal, collected self. Things were starting to add up, however. The use of words and phrases that was not common in Modern Greece, the forced sense of camaraderie, making the comment about “A woman’s touch,” in the face of a man’s need to constantly battle and “win” some small victory or benefit.
“I had been invited, but I am unsure if I will make the event,” she said with a polite smile. Truth be told, Diana loathed public events such as these UN dinner parties, and did everything she could to avoid the time wasting soirees. One exception was when they were being held for honest charity, not the outer auspices of charity, which served only to make the host of said event appear bigger and more generous than they were. This evening was a charity event, being hosted by some celebrity, a movie star apparently, whose husband resembled someone she used to know. It was for the children of some poor, small, war torn African Nation, and Diana had decided she would attend at some point, but had no interest in being pinned down for a specific time by a politician none-the-less. Her mother was naturally wary of politicians, still a believer in divine rule and right by might.
“Please, no need for honorifics,” she said, shrugging off the title of “your Majesty.” No one on Themyscira called her Princess, unless she was in trouble, and even here, the only time she was referred to as by that title was by Black Canary, which was an acceptable pet name from the song bird.
Steven Trevor: Steve began walking with the General as they made their way to an outdoor space, overlooking a garden. “So, what do you make of the superhero band?” The General’s voice hardened; there was no emotion while his gaze studied Steve. “What do I think? I would be lying if I wasn’t jealous of Superman…He’s able to stay up there as long as he likes…Doesn’t have to stop for fuel from what I’ve seen. The others…I’m not so sure about. Never heard of Green Lantern, Flash until they broke in the news about that whole thing in the South.” The General nodded some looking to the sky. “This is a big thing, Steve.”
Steve nodded. “Tell me about it…It’s one thing reading about X-mutants and giant green rage monsters, it’s another to actually have these guys stopping terrorists, dinosaurs, and now Aliens…”
The General nodded a few times. “Have you met Wonder Woman?” Steve shook his head. “No, unfortunately I haven’t. She’s hot as hell…If I may be so honest, sir.” The General nodded his head multiple times. “Seems to be genetic.” Steve chuckled and then was confused. “Huh?” “Your grandfather had a thing for...strong women, even if he was disrespectful. With rank comes ego, I suppose.” Steve nodded slowly thinking about the General’s words.
Cassandra Colchis: The Greek ambassador just smiled at the Amazon, seeming silently amused by her cool manner, her neutral expression, her damned collectiveness. Although a small look of surprise quickly flitted across her features as Diana brushed off her title.
"Very well, may I call you Diana then dear?" she smiled.
"Oh, I do hope you decide to come to the dinner. It is for a good cause and it is the social activities where all the real decisions are made." the slyness slipped into her smile again, seeming very much like a politician.
"After all, this is a much different battlefield than what you are used to. The fight is subtle, the terrain uneven, the weapons hidden in silvered tongues and meaningful handshakes and glances." she idly teased one of her long dark locks, glancing at a bit at it. She enjoyed her word games, her battle of wits, and she was enjoying her role as ambassador.
Her aide, the iron haired man that stood beside her, built like Adonis, cleared his throat. He looked more like a bodyguard than an aid. "Ambassador..."
Sandra looked at him lazily and gave a curt nod, before turning back to Diana. "I am sorry darling. It looks like I have a luncheon appointment. Perhaps we can talk more tonight at the dinner. I hope you will be there." she smiled and politely excused herself taking her aid's arm.
"Take care dear." she said in Greek, her hand giving a little wave as she left.
Wonder Woman: “Of course, the life of an Ambassador is a busy one,” she said with a polite smile and a subtle bow of her head. What retained Diana’s interest as the attractive woman walked away on the arm of a man who could easily portray any of the Heroes of Legend, were her words about the unseen terrain and the subtle fighting that one must do in the political realm. There was just something... off... something different about Cassandra Colchis, something that didn’t sit quite right with Diana. Not knowing what it was that gave Diana the uneasy feeling, she would be unable to act. The solution was simple: more information was necessary, meaning that like it or not, Diana would find herself at the charity event that evening.
She had dressed for the occasion in a dress that was perhaps a little too obvious of her heritage. The single shoulder gown was navy blue, hanging to the floor and pinned at her right shoulder with a golden clip and a golden tie (in reality her lasso) around her waist as a belt. Her hair, usually worn in a very business-like bun at the base of her neck was loose, worn in waves down her back. As usual, she wore little make up, perhaps a little eyeliner and lip color, but nothing even close to what some of the other women were wearing. She had chosen to don her royal diadem, a small red gem perched on a gold strand, lying between her eyebrows, raised an inch or so from being directly between them. She milled about, keeping an eye open for Colchis.
Steven Trevor: Steve turned on his heels and looked back at the room, surrounded by diplomats, ambassadors, and politicians. “I don’t know what the motives of the other heroes are…but it takes something more to be willing to help society not only from going out there and busting criminals, but to also go in there and wrestle the jaw of lawyers and politicians. Superman and Wonder Woman…Together they make for hell of a team.”
The General nodded and then spoke. “Or one hell of an enemy. Good evening, Major…”
Steve paused and blinked for a moment and watched as the General left him, Steve held a glass of sprite which made him look down at the foam within the clear beverage of his glass. “-But they’re on our side…” He mumbled to himself before biting his lip. He reached into his pocket to pull out his cell phone when his attention was drawn to Diana as she moved through the crowd of people. Freezing for a moment, Steve’s lower lip hung open in awe from her appearance. It wasn’t until a text message that vibrated his phone in hand that he was brought to reality, a message from his sergeant. “How’s it going with the wolves and sheep?”
Steve smirked and sent a response before pocketing the phone and making his way to Diana. He adjusted his dark blue tie and cleared his through as he came closer to her.
“Ahem. Excuse me, Ms. Wonder Woman? Steven Trevor, pleasure to meet you.” Steve offered his hand to her for an exchange of greeting. His blue eyes raced over her facial features while feeling himself mused by her presence. She was taller than him, or with her hair standing up he thought she was. She really was an Amazon, Steve wasn’t sure if he uncovered a new fetish that he would research or check out at his next visit to an adult store, but he liked it.
Cassandra Colchis: That night the Greek ambassador appeared at the charity dinner fashionably late, clinging onto the arm of her aid, who seemed to vanish into the crowd as she entered it, silently watching crowd from a position near a wall. His head turning in quick little movements, like when one watches a predatory bird. Sandra was wearing a green satin gown, less conservative compared to what she wore at session that day, with its plunging neckline and ties up the front and down the back. Sandra's hair done up in a cascade of curls, looking a little wild somehow. Her eye shadow a subtle smoky purple. Her smooth step gliding through the crowd like a wildcat on the prowl, drinking in the presence of the crowd. She caught eyes with Diana and gave a little wave to her as she moved past her and Major Trevor, giving a smile glad to see the Amazon ambassador there. She gave Steve a smirk and a wink when their eyes met, before several male guests surrounded her, flocking to her. She played it up. Giving them furtive glances, gentle touches as she chat with them, laughing at their jokes as she sipped from glass of wine that had been handed to her. After awhile she seemed very interested in one of the South American ambassadors. He was very talkative and passionate, getting louder and louder. One eavesdropping would hear him mentioning his concerns for the new committee she was putting together, asking her to consider alternatives. She gave a concerned look to the ambassador and guided him out towards the garden so they could speak more privately.
Wonder Woman: It was a rare occasion for Diana to wear high heels, but she did so at the event as it appeared to be a non optional social convention at such a formal event; women must wear dresses and they must be paired with painful to walk in high heels. In truth, she was probably close to Steve’s height without the shoes, but with them, and her hair allowed to sit and rest naturally, she did give off a much larger image. That was something Diana was having trouble grappling since coming to the Patriarch’s world; women were at once admired and admonished for their bodies, but not for any athleticism that they could do with them, but their bodies’ ability to be pleasing to the eye. She had already encountered some of that, reading tabloid comments about her armor, unflattering remarks about Amazon sexuality. To this point, she had brushed them off.
At first she was confused when Steve approached her, first off he had been one of the first to do so without making some innuendo laden offer of creating a “mutually beneficial coalition,” with Themyscira, and second because he wore a badge that signaled he was with the military.
“Diana is fine,” her voice hesitated as she read his badge.
“Major Trevor.” She took his hand with a firm, but not overly strong, shake.
“It is a pleasure to meet a man more my speed,” her eyes looked around the room.
“Truth be told, I am not so fond of the double talking and games played by politicians,” she spoke softly, closing the gap between them. Her words finished, it would seem, just in time as Colchis entered the room.
Diana was instantly taken, not by the woman herself, but by the entrance. And I thought I caused stares, she thought to herself, not necessarily in a jealous manner, but she was aware of her attributes and her ability to draw the male eye. The Ambassador certainly had pulled out all the stops, and indeed looked more glamorous than the movie star host, who in turn looked a little soured, turning away from her husband whose eyes were glued to the Greek woman.
“Someone you know?” Diana teased as the dark eyed woman winked at Steve.
Steven Trevor: Steve’s attention turned to look through the ground, as if searching for an elephant within it. “Huh?” His attention hadn’t caught onto Cassandra as she prowled through the crowd of officials. He smirked finally and brought his attention back to her. His thoughts to himself were amused by this. ‘Is she playing games with me?’ “I’m…I’m glad I’m more of your type. This is truthfully my first International event. Been to a noble Peace prize once, but that’s not really something glorious or involving as meeting a role model. I would be lying if I didn’t admit I was a fan. I’d offer to take you flying sometime, but something tells me that you’ve “been there and done that” am I right?” If Steve’s gaze ever found Cassandra, he wouldn’t be distracted as he held a pure concentration on Diana.
“Uh…So, do you have a table or would you care to join me at one? I hardly know anyone here, I just flew in from Gateway almost twenty minutes ago…A lot of people and I’m afraid not many seem like to like me. Though the one waitress seemed to be checking me out…” –Steve began looking around for the waitress before smiling at Diana in a playful manner.
Cassandra Colchis: Sandra smiled cheekily at the movie star host with her look of disapproval as her and the ambassador made their way to the garden. Looking glad that she outshone her hostess and gave a long lingering glance at the actress' husband who couldn't keep his eyes off her, she teasingly wrinkled her nose at him and turned so he could watch her retreating form as she swayed a little on her heels. Out in the garden she led the ambassador around a bend of the building away from the windows and earshot. She caressed his cheek. "You needn't worry about such concerns. I have the situation under control and we will be meeting with the Security Council who will ensure we have checks and balances... please just let it drop." her voice was like honey, but the ambassador's passion for his concerns made him decline her advances, but it was a losing fight, he was getting distracted, finding it hard to resist, he was faltering over words. "I'm sorry you disagree Ambassador..." her tone not showing any concern, she was enjoying it if anything, her brown eyes now showing red.”But I can't have you speaking against me right now. It is a time for passion and emotion, not for common sense." she grinned and purple-pink flames danced about her fingers as they engulfed the man his form shifting and changing, he went to scream and found he couldn't as body grew narrow, his tongue darting out in a hiss as he tried to reply. The most the party could see was a slight flash of light on the paving stones, as if someone using a camera. The ambassador’s clothes melting into scales covering his body. She grinned holding the new python in her hands, his eyes glowing a bit red matching that of the Greek woman's. "Now there's a good boy. You go slither off and put yourself to use clearing this garden of rodents, a much higher calling if you ask me." she crooned to the snake kissing his head before lowering him to the ground.
Wonder Woman: She smiled as he fumbled for words, her expression one of patience. He was earnest, which was refreshing for the Amazon, something she understood far better than the politicians who wanted their backs scratched to get a simple concession. “You would be correct,” she said with a soft voice. “But it has been a while since I have flown a plane.” She halted herself there and allowed him to continue. “Gateway is a beautiful city,” she intervened, her eyes lighting up a little. “Much more peaceful than New York, I find. And the people, far kinder to each other.” A server came between them, offering both flutes of champagne. Diana nodded her acceptance, delicately plucking one of the tall glasses from his tray in a manner to not unbalance him and cause the other glasses to tip over. Her eyes had followed Colchis as she had taken an Ambassador from a South American country, one rich in illegal drugs and seemingly incapable of stemming the flow, out into the garden.
Her brow furrowed curiously as she saw a small hint of light. It could just be a camera flash, there were paparazzi and legitimate photographers everywhere, but Diana’s intuition told her that the garden was too well guarded an area for a paparazzo to infiltrate, and too poorly lit for a legitimate member of the press to take pictures there. “Will you excuse me, one moment, Major Trevor?” she said, her voice obviously distracted as she pushed the glass into his free hand and headed towards the garden. She saw the Greek ambassador returning to the party and took the opportunity to slip into the otherwise unoccupied garden. There were two cameras pointed in opposite directions, but it looked as though the flash had occurred in a dead spot between their watchful eyes.
Her ears picked up a strange sound, the moving of something across the flat flagstone of the patio. Blue eyes flicking down, Diana could just make out the tail of something, a snake perhaps, slithering away into the brush. Her eyes narrowed as she pulled the hem of her skirt up with one hand, reaching under the brush with her other, but the snake was already gone. Strange, she thought to herself. Snakes were notoriously shy around people, and to make a sound so clear to Diana, it would have had to have been a large one. Of course, there were always rumors of people letting their pets free when they became too big for their cages, but Diana was not one for those sorts of urban legends. Something was clearly up, and she had a feeling Ambassador Colchis was involved.
Steven Trevor: Steve took a glass of champagne as Diana had and went to speak when her attention diverted. He stopped himself and nodded to her. “Of course…Talk to ya later.” Steve backed away but, never let his eyes falter in watching her as she left for the gardens, a determination that once more struck him; her movements screamed that she was on a mission or something. Everything the woman did had intent and purposefulness to it. Never caught on the edge of possibility, she took action and this very thought tickled him in perhaps the more personal ways than anyone would care to know about. Steve turned and began speaking to a few diplomats from Israel and Sweden.
Cassandra Colchis: Sandra smirked as she walked past one of the other entrances to the garden and could see Diana hunched over holding her skirt feeling about for the python that was lurking in the gardens foliage, eluding her. She walked up to Major Trevor and took the second champagne flute he was holding and took a sip from it smiling at him. The Amazon was smart and suspicious, she always had been. She laughed silently to herself, the queen of the amazons reduced to looking for snakes in gardens. Part of her wanted to end this charade, but she had more important work to do if she wanted to get her revenge. She would have to be content with just teasing and leading the Amazon on a wild goose chase. She went over to Steve and gently caressed his arm to get his attention. She gave a faux pout. "Did the Amazon leave you alone holding her glass?" she teased, reaching out to relieve him of the glass flute. "I guess they don't teach manners on her island." she shook her head in disgust as she got a little closer to the major. "So what brings such a distinguished officer to this little party? Ambition for joining the Security Council? I know people who would welcome a man of your knowledge and skill." Sandra took a sip of Diana's champagne.
Wonder Woman: Diana straightened herself as she stood, letting her skirt flutter down around her ankles as she dusted the dirt from her hand. Things were beginning to add up in Diana’s head in a bad way. Her mother had an ancient enemy, a powerful sorceress, known for turning men in to all kinds of beasts, not to mention slaves to her desire. Could she have resurfaced? Diana was hesitant to think of the Ambassador as the witch, the comfort came from thinking her a mortal duped into Circe’s plan by some trick. Perhaps the sorceress had the woman’s lover captive? It hadn’t registered to Diana that Circe would be able to infiltrate political ranks, at least not yet. She returned to the party, trying to keep her face a mask of pleasantry as she mingled through the crowd, trying to find out which Ambassador Colchis had escorted into the garden.
Her eyes found Trevor, speaking with the Greek woman. There was a flare of jealousy, but then again, her mother had warned her of men in the Patriarch’s world, and their view of women as disposable items of flight and fancy. Better not to get attached, she thought to herself, focusing back on finding the identity of the ambassador.
Steven Trevor: Steve’s attention was diverted as Sandra approached him, feeling her gentle touch on his arm, his toned arm would give her some resistance typical of a man his age who regularly exercised. “I think that goes for most women in my life, they leave as quickly as they come…” Steve said while his thoughts briefly assessed his words. ‘Oh, that sounded dirty. Good thing she’s foreign.’ As she spoke he smiled some at her while she took the glass without him even knowing it, Steve was distracted by her advances and appearance. He would begin stepping away from her as she leaned in closer, invading a bit of his personal space. “Ah…-I’m here to get to know people. I’m an Iraq War experienced veteran, having done 24 missions, all successful. H-how about you?” Steve’s step back allowed him to remove any hormonal attraction he would feel for a woman getting too close, let alone the fact his rational thinking was setting off red flags about her, though she was a woman, what harm could she do? Steve then spoke. “I-I like your outfit, Mrs.…?”
Cassandra Colchis: As the ambassador of Themyscira socialized to find out the identity of the missing ambassador, she discovered it was Simon Lopez of the small republic San Theodoros. Noting Diana's progress over Steve's shoulder Sandra sent a thought out to her aid. He looked up towards the Greek ambassador as if she said something and silently left the hall they were in to go into the hall. A few minutes later ambassador Lopez walked into the room, walking straight towards Diana.
"I heard you were looking for me. I'm sorry I was out getting some fresh air, you know how stifling these events can be." he laughed whole heartedly.
Sandra laughed at Steve's joke about the women in his life.
"I find that hard to believe, I can't think of any woman who would want to let you go." she teased. She nods hearing about Trevor's combat experience.
"That's very impressive, you are quite the warrior yourself, I'm sure you make Lord Ares proud." she grins.
"I have seen more wars and battles than you can count major, but no missions. I am a civilian Major."
She smiled as he looked over her outfit. "Miss, Miss Cassandra Colchis, and thank you. It is one of my favorites. I’m glad you like it too."She gets a little closer as he backs up, not letting him get away so easily.
"So what brings you here Major?" Trevor would feel a gentle pressure touch his mind, reminding him of the Greek ambassador's dainty fingers for some reason.
Wonder Woman: Diana was a little startled, to say the least, by the sudden presence of the Ambassador. She offered him a smile to hide her confusion. She shook his hand.
“Yes, I was,” she said with a smile, trying to come up with something to cover her investigation, something that would not be a lie.
“I heard you had some apprehension about the League,” it was a good enough statement; there were very few who thought that the Justice League was a good idea. The media and citizens loved them, but the politicians were wary of anyone with more power than them. “I just wanted to let you know that we are of no threat to you, or the UN. There is no desire to supersede any nation’s authority or autonomy.” She spoke earnestly, and honestly, as she always did, careful to keep eye contact with the dark skinned man, watching Colchis with Trevor in her peripheral vision.
Steven Trevor: Steve smiled some feeling her fingers in a soothing sensation. He then commented. “Ares…the God of Conflict?” Steve’s words were particular, not tainted by slang where Ares was known as ‘God of War’ He passively slipped his hand onto Cassandra’s hip to support her as she seemed to have a problem of falling forward.
“I would like to think I am not even a blip on his radar but, honestly… I don’t believe in him. That’s all ancient Greek.” Trevor’s hand gently brushed her side as if nervously trying not to agitate or offend the ambassador.
“You can call me Steve, if you like.” He held his smile at her, her words further charming him to the point where he couldn’t take his attention off of her.
“I’m here to try and get a position for this global initiative you guys seem to be pushing. If I make enough friends, I might be able to get nominated and placed in the position.” Trevor spoke freely, never intending to give up that information, but somehow it just came right out of him.
He would then slip in there. “Any chance I could have your number, maybe we could go someplace after this?” He leaned in closer and whispered. “Alone…” And then he backed away to their normal distance.
Cassandra Colchis: Ambassador Lopez smiled warmly at Wonder Woman. "Well, thank you for your concern Miss. I had some apprehension for the league before, but I must admit I have gained some confidence knowing that there will be checks and balances on all powers and look forward to hearing more about the new task force in charge of worldwide security. Thank you for coming to talk with me, I must admit not all ambassadors are as considerate to help ease concerns and to promote peace. Thanks again." He gave her a firm handshake and then excused himself having apparently seen some people he wanted to talk with.
The Greek ambassador nodded as he recognized the God she was referring to, her smile turning into a smirk as he brushed Ares aside. "You shouldn't dismiss ancient Greek so easily Major, history has a way of revisiting us. And anyone who practices battle and conflict concern Lord Ares. I would hate for you to be on Ares' bad side. My people would know!" she teased.
She smiles as he gave the information her magic was coercing out of him. "My my, such ambition indeed, I could put a good word in for you, we do need the United States support."
She smiles as he touched her hip, her fingers gently caressing his own, keeping his hand close.
"Steve." she repeated his name, letting it linger on her lips like it was a delicious treat. "I would love to get to know you better... but I'm afraid I have plans already for tonight." she reached up and touched behind his ear and a card appeared in her fingertips, she handed it to him. "But you can call me here at my hotel sometime... I look forward to working... closely, with you." she smiled and leaned forward and lightly kissed his lips, catching Diana's sideways glance toward her, before she stepped back and blended into the crowd.
Wonder Woman: “Peace is the corner stone of the Amazon ideal,” she said with a nod as she closed her brief conversation with the Ambassador. He dismissed himself and left Diana lingering at the doorway, out of many lines of sight but she could almost swear she caught the Ambassador Colchis watching her as the dark eyed woman pressed a kissed to Steve’s mouth. Better that way, she thought to herself. Singular emotional attachments could lead her down a dark path, the story of her Mother’s love reminded her of what the darker shades of romance could lead to, even the lovers never intended for such a disaster. She was presented with more champagne and politely took as offered, her eyes drifting around the room as she sipped the bubbly beverage. She wasn’t worried about getting drunk, as much as the optics of the situation. Already she had been called under harsh fire for refusing to give into demands made to out her fellow League members, not that she knew their identities. Her blue eyes scanned the room again, but there was little for her interest.
Steven Trevor: Steve smiled at her as his hand reached to take the card he found himself kissing her for a split moment; a blush came over his face while his mind raced. ‘Hell yes.’ He smiled at her as she walked away and then suddenly he was normal again. He blinked for a moment and looked around. “That was…Something else.” He blinked his eyes a couple of times before looking around confused slightly before he pulled his head on straight and went on to search for another person to speak with. Steve was surprised to see how many people were expressing their concerns for the Justice League; Steve was beginning to wonder if he was the only person in support of the super hero group, he quickly learned to keep his opinion about it quite or to a minimum. ‘How can so many people not trust Superman or Wonder Woman? Don’t they read the news?’
Cassandra Colchis: Sandra smiled as she saw the glance on the Amazon’s face just as faint kiss ended and she faded into the crowd. She whispered to herself and people stopped noticing her presence, she exited the room and went outside. She smiled amused at Steve's reaction as his head cleared from her influence. She was also quite happy with the night. She did well; she nullified one vocal opponent and might have set herself up with a new pawn to use while stealing him away from the Amazon in the process, definitely a win in her book. As she made her way back to the hotel room she saw Ambassador Lopez sitting at the desk in her room caressing a rather full and sleepy looking python. She chanted and lifted her hands above her head. The Ambassador’s form shivered like rippling water as the illusion vanished leaving her aid holding the former man on the desk. For a moment Sandra appeared and then her own form rippled leaving her hair a dark purple and eyes a vivid red.
"Thank you Mikos, you were most helpful as always." she spoke to him in Greek.
He bowed his head. "Thank you Mistress Circe, it is the least I could do. Should I put him with the others?"
Circe: She smiled and leaned forward towards the snake cooing to it. "Simon is going to make such good friends, aren't you Simon? I tried to warn you." she grinned and nodded to Mikos, who picked up the snake and opened the closed bathroom door, setting the snake in the tub filled with pythons and vipers. Just another night’s work.
Wonder Woman: Diana let her gaze continue to meander over the other guests, though there were a few who continued to come to her, hoping to charm the Amazon, or ply her with champagne, into releasing that which she did not know in the first place.
“Ambassador Hopkins, I do not know who Batman is, nor do I know who Superman is, if you would please... stop touching my back,” she finally snapped, her body going rigid as she fought the natural urge to physically push him away from her. She could hear him muttering misogynistic comments to himself as he stormed off like a toddler told he couldn’t have cookies for dinner. A steadying breath saw Trevor enter her line of sight once more, but rather than approach, she merely watched. There was something about him; why had Colchis come to him? He was attractive enough, sure, but a woman like that had her pick of men, she was certain, and ambitious as she seemed to be, a Major in the USAF wasn’t exactly a high target to aim for.
Steven Trevor: Steve nodded his head multiple times, trying to understand a Russian man speaking relatively fast in his language, a translator would try to keep up, but Trevor was just nodding his head. “Ah ha…That’s pretty funny. Well it was a pleasure to meet you sir.” Steve shook hands and stepped away his body coming to face Diana across the room where he froze and watched her watching him for a moment he smiled and came to her, dodging a few people as they walked between his paths to her.
“Hey…How’s the dinner going? I’ve gotta say, I’m disappointed there isn’t any Russian diplomat that is interesting. Don’t tell anyone I said that…” Steve quickly stated, not wanting those words to come back and haunt him. He leaned against the wall behind him, as he settled next to Diana to look out at the crowd.
“So…” Diana was probably expecting the big question to occur that everyone seemed to ask and annoy her about tonight, something about the Justice League, Superman, Batman, Green Lantern… something. “Do you like Chinese food? I’d hate to say it but, I’m completely not in the mood for the menu here.”
Wonder Woman: She smiled at Steve as he came back to her, leaning against the wall and affecting a very relaxed tone. “Oh, I don’t know, I think the Khrushchev look alike was enjoying his conversation with you,” she paused, her eyes cutting to him. “Though I’m sure he’s confused as to why you feel the falling market price for beluga caviar is so funny,” her voice had adopted a gentle tone; she was playing with him. A joke, if it were, though the ambassador was confused, and he had been talking about market price for fish eggs. Her eyes narrowed for a minute as he inquired about Chinese food. “It’s been my experience so far that an American’s assessment of what constitutes “Chinese food” and what a Chinese assessment of the same fare is not the same. I do like Chinese, however, provided it is in fact Chinese.”
Steven Trevor: Steve grinned at Diana. “Chinese food is Chinese food. Though I wouldn’t mind getting to see your idea of it…” looked around and then rolled off the wall to lead her. “My car or does Themyscira provide a limousine for its finest?” He teased as he walked. “Just curious, off the record…How much Champagne can you drink?” He was legitimately curious as he walked towards the entrance, crowds of people shuffling around the room were somewhat getting in his path until finally he was outside prepared to go for his escort, a man sat in a blue Chevy car patiently waiting for Trevor.
Wonder Woman: “Depends on how thirsty I am,” she muttered humorlessly, thinking perhaps it had been foolish to concede to such an offer from someone like Trevor.
“When I need to be driven, I do call a car service. I doubt it is anything you would think of as fancy,” she stated dryly, the comment about how much could she drink making her curious about the man’s motives. Diana could be many things, momentarily naive was one of them, and as such the Queen had done her best to prepare her daughter for the more lecherous elements that she might encounter. Her eyes took in the car that pulled up, a late model Impala; she had seen many of them in New York, used alternately with the Ford Interceptor as a police car.
