Louisiana, 2005…planks of wood, white boards, shingles from the rooftops were scattered across a large field, construction vehicles had large sirens flashing, the state department had workers inspecting the damage, while a 1998 blue ford F250 stopped and its doors flung opened. Brown work boots crunched against the mud and marsh below his feet. A state department agent would turn to spot the vehicle and its passengers, placing his hands on his hips the man approached the driver. ”Can I help you?” The man stood by the door of his pickup truck, leaning his arms against the open window of the door. Blonde hair falling to his shoulders. He wore a light blue plaid shirt with its long sleeves rolled up to his elbows. Blue jeans hung down to his ankles while a brown leather belt wrapped around his hips. <c>
“Yes, you can.” He spoke walking out towards the state department agent. The agent couldn’t help, but notice the obvious vehicle plate on the front of the man’s vehicle as he stepped in front of it. ‘Gore Lieberman 2000’ The agent narrowed his eyes skeptical of the blonde haired man. “Alec Holland, I was given a call by your guys.” Alec announced as his right hand lifted to gesture next to the cars passenger side. “This is my wife, Linda.” The agent suddenly recognized the couple and smiled. “Oh! Yes. Right this way….” The man led the couple away from the wreckage towards a field of crops next to a hill. “Did you two have a problem getting here?” <c>
Linda frowned and spoke. “Yes…The Hurricane did a lot more damage down here than we expected…It’s tragic. If you *need* any help, we’ll gladly volunteer…” Linda’s voice was compassionate; she was very concerned about the situation from what Alec could tell. Alec’s interests were more focused on the environment and his project of a *bio-restorative formula,* in a strange sense Alec felt that Hurricane Katrina was justice to punish Humans. Every day the human population in America, Europe, Asia, Canada, Mexico, Australia, Africa…polluted the planet, destroyed the homes of various forests that was home to animals, and raped the natural beauty of the environment. <c>
Alec wanted a better way to preserve the natural beauty of life, he never understood why he had this mission, but it was the only mission he ever connected with in his life; the environment was in danger and he would answer its cries for help, but perhaps not today. The Agent revealed a hole in the crop field; Alec noted that his foot could probably fit inside it. “Whew…” Alec commented crouching down he examined the hole before pulling out a tape measure to identify its dimensions. “14 inches by…11 inches…Could be a groundhog?” the agent nodded. “We thought that…Must’ve been quite a bit of them.” The agent said walking away towards the top of the fill, where Linda followed. <c>
Linda’s mouth would drop and she would speak. “Oh my god, Alec…” Alec turned his head and stood at the top of the hill to see a large cavern underneath a collapsed field of crops. “What is this…?” Alec said almost losing his breath. The Agent shined his flash light into the dark maw of the cavern. “It was underneath the crop field…Must’ve been some sort of giant family or something. I’ll let you to go to work, let me know what you find.” The agent walked away leaving Alec and Linda to examine the scene, Alec stroked his chin before climbing down in the large 20 meter wide hole, dropping down eight feet he looked around. “A family of ground hogs did this?” <c>
Linda was skeptical too of that conclusion. “Anything stand out?” Alec shook his head. “No…It looks like a hole or a cave…Like an underground tunnel burrowed by a person. There’s no way an animal can do something like this” Alec’s gaze finally fell upon something; a plant root that forced him to lean down and pick up the damaged piece. His eyes studied it. “Alec…Did you find something?” “I’m not sure…It’s a plant, its roots are damaged.” “Damaged by what?” Linda inquired as Alec analyzed it for a moment longer. “Hard to say…It looks like someone was trying to cut it, there are multiple cuts into it.” Alec stood up. It would be almost 30 minutes later that Alec and Linda left the unsolved mystery of collapsed dirt in the middle of a crop field.
Louisiana, today…A large orange and yellow box shaped vehicles sat quietly in the dead of night, fog weaseled its grasp around a tall wood framed construction building, the second floor had a man kneeling down to the floor where he gently banged on a nail into the floor with a hammer. He placed two and then stood up to grab another batch of nails, when a shivering sound of fresh wooden boards began to creak. The worker looked around. “Someone there?” A tapping would click against some of the wood in the back of the house, concealed by shadows of darkness. <c>
The man carried his flash light and began his way down the stairs to see what was causing the tapping, his boots clunking against the naked wood boards beneath him. He shone the flash light through the pillars of wood framework, with few walls blocking his visibility. He came to the back of the building where the tapping had ceased; he shined the flash light far into the distance, analyzing the forests surrounding the edge of the development area. “Anyone there?” he stood a step forward outside. In the dead of night a blood curling scream would fall upon deaf ears.<c>
Louisiana swamps, today…@};~~{He remembers the feeling of her touch, the smile and tears upon her face when asked for her to marry him. Linda Holland had experienced supported him in his efforts to help fulfill his destiny. He has come to acceptance with his new life, his role within this world; he serves as our champion; our WARRIOR KING, and it is through his guidance he will lead us to a new existence despite the increasing changes in our world.}~~;{@ A large massive pile of moss and fungal resided within the marsh. {Alec, there are no such things as monsters…} the voice of Linda as she leans against his chest underneath a July night, like this one. <c>
The warm air soothed him as her vanilla hands and pink nails slid up his chest causing the fibers of his dress shirt to brush against the hairs on his chest. The scent of her hair filled his nostrils as they rested in the grass, her arms wrapped around his left arm, as Alec spoke. ‘Of course there are monsters…Otherwise humans would live a *care free* life. *Fear* is a very important emotion’ @};~~{He remembers her purring chuckle from her body against his and it aches the heart he doesn’t have.}~~;{@ {Is that so? I think We’ve lived long enough to scientifically rule out the fact they even exist. Every spotting of Bigfoot or Lochness Monster has proven to be a hoax.} <c>
‘I just…feel it…inside me.’ {Are you saying *you’re* a monster?} ‘…No, yes…it’s something inside me, Lin. Haven’t *you* ever felt like you’re part of a *bigger* plan? That you’re an important part to the universe, even if it’s self-delusion?’ Linda smiled and lifted her head to look at him within the moon light. {Yes…the day I said “I do” is when I realized that I was no longer a drift but that I was a part of something bigger, that *I* would have an *impact* on your life. Hopefully for the better.} Alec smiled before cupping her cheek to pull her into a kiss. ‘I love you.’ {I love you, Alec.}
