Wonder Woman: Life had returned to normal, or at least somewhat normal. Reconstruction had already begun on the United Nations buildings, Circe was once again at bay and Diana had made a dear friend in the Black Canary. Yet, inspite of all of this, within the woman remained an emptiness. Pride had kept her from asking Fate about Circe's spell. Foolish and arrogant as it was, she did not want the rest of the League to know what was going on. Dinah had never inquired as to why they had to go to -her- mother, when the two Canaries had such a stressful relationship at the best of times and Diana had spoken of nothing but admiration for the Queen. Diana respected that of her new found friend, but still found herself hiding the enchantment from the blonde woman, along with everyone else. From her apartment near the construction site Diana could watch as cranes and machinery worked to rebuild what magic and hatred had taken down. Many ambassadors had taken leave, going home to their countries of origin with fantastic stories of being saved by the Justice League, and of the witch than had them put under spells. If it hadn't been on international news, covered in a reported one hundred and eighty six languages, Diana imagined the ambassadors would be treated for insanity. With a sigh she turned away from the window, looking back over her apartment which she had, at one point, taken time to decorate as it would have looked at home. It used to comfort the woman, now it was like a knife through her heart. "What do I do?" she bemoaned to no one inparticular, her palm pressing against her temple as her fingers brushed back dark curls from her eyes. She sat at her desk, letting her head weigh on her arm as she let out a sigh. <e>
Ares:Behind Diana a bright, yellowish gold light appeared that filled the entirety of the room with its blinding shine. It sustained itself for a moment, a gentle warmth sweeping over the room before it began to fade away as suddenly as it had appeared. Athena, Goddess of Wisdom, smiled gently at the Champion of Olympus, her gentle gaze resting on the Amazon, "What seems to be troubling you child?" Her voice was calm, the tone soothing like cool water to warm skin, while her white robe covered her form.
Wonder Woman:Her blue eyes looked up as the light filled the room, her hand falling from her face. Her natural instinct to rise to her feet and partially bow her head, her shoulders moving forward as well. "Pallas Athena," she whispered, a respectful greeting towards the Goddess of Wisdom. She stumbled mentally for what felt like forever, though only a few seconds ticked by, trying to come up with a way to phrase her dilema. "The witch Circe, she wished to torment me. An ally and myself have sealed her magic away so she can do no further harm, and while we were able to undo most of the chaos she reigned upon the world, one enchantment remains," Diana spoke to Athena as she would her own Mother, for the Goddesses were as midwives to all Amazons, even the one born of clay, should the story be believed. "She has done something, something that prevents me from returning home. I can neither find Themyscira for all my efforts, nor can I hear the voice of my Mother as before. I have never felt so... lost, Goddess. In all my years, never have I been isolated from my Sisters." Her voice remained respectful, but the twitch of her lip signalled the emotional distress of the woman, that her loneliness and isolation, indeed something she was ill at ease dealing with, was taking a heavy mental and emotional tole.
Ares: Athena stepped forward, the gentle smile still on her lips as the Goddess crossed the distance between the two of them. She raised a hand up, placing the palm of it on Diana's shoulder and attempted to comfort her, "Calm yourself child. Trials such as these are where the strength of the mind and will is tested the most." As Athena lifted her other arm up, another glow appeared. This light was deep, full red radiating pure heat, such as the breath of a lover teasing the skin of one's neck, and then on the couch in Diana's office the Goddess of Love herself. Aphrodite appeared, laying across the cushions with a frustrated look worn. "Damn!" she cursed, rolling onto her back and taking a long drink of red wine from the glass she held, "He was right! Damn!!" Athena rolled her eyes to her sister, closing them for a moment as she spoke, "Calm yourself. There is no need to be so feisty." "But he was right!" she retaliated, "He stated that she would not ask and dammit all he was right!" The Goddess finished the rest of her wine in one long gulp, fuming that she had been proven wrong and infuriated at the thought of the look and words that were to await the two of them when the Goddesses returned to Olympus.
Wonder Woman: Athena's words were soothing, appealing to Diana's desire to prove herself strong and worthy in the eyes of her Mother, always her toughest critic. The appearance of Aphrodite, the surviving sister of Athena, drew the Amazon's attention. All her life she had heard stories of the cruelty of the Gods, thoguh she had only known their love and kindness. She felt like a child being talked about as if she weren't in the room, and indeed that was the over all effect. Aphrodite's words, though perhaps rash as her Sister would put it, piqued Diana's interest. "Ask?" she tilted her head to the side. "You can fix this?" she asked, her voice curious, if not cautious, her head turning to look between the two women. Her heart began to race, the possibility of its own was enough to boost Diana's spirit. As the stories of the cruelty of the Gods in their boredom were many, so were the cautionary tales of what became of those who wished favours from them, of which Diana knew well, but there was no price too high for this particular favour. Aside from acts which would compromise her Amazon ideals, there was little Diana would not do to have Circe's curse uplifted. <e>
Ares: "Oh blasted, girl!" Aphrodite screeched, throwing her head back making a frustrated groan as she rose to her feet, crossing her arms beneath her bust and eyeing Diana, "Woe be to us indeed if we could not counter the magic of a being such as her!" "Ahh.." Athena sighed, closing her eyes once more and shaking her head. She could understand her sister's frustrations as they would certainly be hearing about their folly in believing their arrival here would have gone down the path that they had hoped. "What my sister is so...elloquently attempting to say is that while Circe may be a powerful wielder of magic... She is not a God and that yes we can help you. You need only ask, child," and the Goddess of Wisdom gently ran the back of her fingers along Diana's cheek as a mother would a child that had scraped their knee.-e-
Wonder Woman: Again, Athena's touch was soothing, quite a bit like her Mother's would have been. Her eyes widened, hope filling both her eyes and indeed her appearance. "Please," she asked, her voice eager and words coming quick. "Oh Goddesses, please forgive my ignorance," she said, the words all but falling out of her mouth as her eyes moved from Athena to Aphrodite, though she was hesitant to move her head, not wanting to turn away from the comfort of the maternal touch. "Please release me from Circe's curse," she beseeched them, her brows furrowing together as she looked up to the two Goddesses. "I want to be able to go home again," her voice softening, becoming quiet as she let her self bare her desire to the two Goddesses in front of her, even if they would already know her heart's desire. There was little doubt whom Aphrodite had been referring to as being "right," and Diana felt a twinge, even without the mention of his name. In her heart of hearts, she was not surprised that perhaps He would know her better than the Goddesses. There was a bond between the two; if Aphrodite and Athena were as midwives and mothers to the Amazons, He was but another God to the majority of the Island, yet with the Queen and her child there was a bond. <e>
Ares: Her face still cross with annoyance, Aphrodite listened to Diana's plea to be released from the spell that held her from Themyscira and her family. "Ahh..." she sighed deeply, features finally softening as she made her way to Diana's side and brushed her hair back from her face, "I must wonder sometimes what we are to do with you." Finally, for the first time since she had arrived, the Goddess of Love smiled and gave a nod to Athena who returned it. "As you wish," Athena said softly and placed a gentle kiss on the Champion's forehead, 'you are free of the spell." She was the first to step back while Aphrodite who, while soon following, placed a comforting kiss on Diana's cheek beforehand, "It's time to deal with it now, isn't it?" "Yes..." Athena answered gravely, her smile faltering, "Do you have anything for us, child, before we depart?"
Wonder Woman: The smile grew as she heard their words, daring to pull each in for an embrace when the women came close to her, gracing her with their lips. With their simple words, Doama could feel a strange... warmth. A comfort that she knew that her Mother was no longer being kept from her. "Thank you, Goddesses," she said, her voice barely constraining her excitement. She could almost feel the tears welling up in her eyes, blurring the image of the two Goddesses in front of her as they prepared to depart. As each places a kiss upon her face, her blue eyes closed, her head bowing slightly in a show of respect for their tender affection. "Only my gratitude, and as always my eternal love and loyalty," she responded, her eyes closing, bowing to each with deep respect. While she wished to serve them, she was also feeling the nearly uncontrollable desire to go home, though she would not run from the Goddesses' presence.
Ares: The two Goddesses nodded to her and their respective lights appeared about their forms and as suddenly as they had arrived, they departed. However, in Diana's head she would hear the voice of Aphrodite, "By the way... you may wish to close your eyes and exit your office." Then there would be silence. If the advice was followed, Diana would find herself appearing directly behind Hippolyta. On Olympus, the sisters watched for a time until a dark armored figure stepped up behind them, "From your smiles... I gauge it went well. " -e-
Wonder Woman: She nodded, watching as the dark spots cleared from her eyes, left in the wake of the Sisters' disappearance. Their words, within her mind like the soft memory of a lover's whisper, caused the Amazon to do just that. She placed her hand on the door knob and closed her eyes. Twisting her wrist and pulling through, she was first greeted by the smell of the salty sea, followed by a hint of cinnamon and rose petals. She didn't even need to open her eyes to know Hippolyta stood before her. "Mother!" she cried, with the excitement that only one who had thought a loved one long gone could muster. She rushed forth as the Queen turned, seeing her daughter. "Diana," she breathed, her eyes wide and a smile coming to her face. She knew something had gone wrong; far too much time had passed with no word from her child. The pair embraced, Diana bending her body to accomidate the height difference, so that she curled against her mother. ippolyta's arms wrapped around her daughter's shoulders."My Child, what happened?" The story of Circe, of the two Black Canaries, and the Goddesses fell from her lips. As the younger woman spoke, the Amazon Queen simply held her, arms wrapped ightly around Diana's shoulders. When the story finished, Diana felt her chin tipped upwards. "The Sorceress will always be second to the Gods, and you are the favoured of the favoured. What caused such hesitation?" Diana had no answer to live, pride seemed a foolish reason to cause such strife for herself and her mother. <e>
