Previously in the Justice League…
Doctor Destiny: “You can dream. Live and experience over a thousand lifetimes, filled with joy, happiness, sorrow, pain…You won’t have to wonder about how things would be if they were different. All of your friends and allies sleep, their dreams pour into this world; their consciousness will eventually give you experiences of them, their personality that is no fiction, to them it will only be a dream. If you choose to decline, the Justice League will soon rip this place apart and you will wake up.”
Black Canary: “I…I’ll take your offer…”
Doctor Destiny: “Very well, sweet dreams…………..” Dinah would wake up in her home, nothing seemed different, her memories of what had happened.

Batman: “Who are you working for?”
Trogg: “You are no match for him. They call him Bane.”
Tim Drake: “Bruce, you’re wearing yourself out…You need to rest. Let Terry or Jean-Paul take over things as Batman.”
Bruce Wayne: “You’re right, Tim. I will rest once Bane is in police custody, I promise.”
[December 2013, Knight Fall]
Flash: “This looks bad Bats, Diseases carried by rats, A big bad one that could take out a city..really bad stuff, makes cancer look friendly.. Chimera virus, If I had to do the math It would kill an entire city before the CDC could block off the area..speaking of which, cross check see if any Center for Disease control has been hit the past few weeks.”

Doctor Fate: " The Cane needs to be taken somewhere, Safe. Batman...Whatever IT promises do not succumb to the temptations, It will lie, and you will be the next to fall prey. We will take it to my tower. "

Circe: “To the Themyscira ambassador's friends in the Justice League... you have greater worries than me... My dear servant Mikos just sent missiles to some fun vacation spots... unless you prefer a hot time!"
[May 2013, Justice League RP 4]
December 21st, Indian Ocean, 2am...A blanket of bumpy water bounces as waves underneath force the water to rise. The rumbling of the waves becomes interrupted as a flare of amber erupts from underneath the amethyst depths forcing a nuclear missile to launch towards the Middle East.
Justice League Watchtower…Batman stood before Wonder Woman, Flash, Green Lantern, Superman, Aquaman, and Vixen, his gaze looked upon each knowingly who their identities were…privacy from each of them was stripped away with no certainly as to what information was told and what was hidden. As each spoke to each other, the detective looked around for the one person he was sure he could trust. He spoke with a raspy growl interrupting everyone. “Where’s Black Canary?” With that Batman stormed out of the conference room, his steps were thunderous against the steel plating beneath his weight and pressure applied by his boots. Tapping on the keyboard the locator beacon would indicate Dinah was still in bed. ‘Why is she still sleeping? Unless…Dinah?!’
Holding his lips together Batman ran out of the computer room leaving the satellite tracking screen open. Entering into the transporter room Batman typed into the keyboard. Immediately Batman appeared in Dinah’s bedroom to see her sleeping. “Dinah!” His grip wrapped around her bicep to squeeze her arm inflicting pain that would surely awaken her, but she didn’t flinch…
On the Watchtower an alarm would suddenly raise. “Warning, Nuclear launch detected.” A computerized female’s voice announced over the Watchtower, red lights began flaring throughout the satellite station’s corridors. Upon the computer a message would arrive from a man. “Steve Trevor to the Justice League, We need you guys! Someone launched a nuke and we can’t get through to our air forces in time to stop it. Angel, if you can read me, we need you now!” It would be a mere few seconds later that the Watchtower computer would alert once again. "Warning, Space cannon is operational." A satellite in orbit would begin charging a superpowered laser aimed upon New York City, which the Watchtower computer quickly computed. There were only seconds to respond.
Wonder Woman: Diana was chatting, passing pleasantries amongst the others, and her ears perked up as Batman questioned Dinah's where abouts. It struck Diana as odd that she herself hadn't thought of the blonde, as they were friends. That said, it seemed that since the issue with Doctor Destiny Dinah wasn't her normal self. Batman had shown that he was close to the blonde woman, and Diana hadn't questioned that friendship, even as she was building her own with another teammate. Perhaps it was best that they didn't share those particular details, sometimes it was easier not to know the details of another's romantic life. The alarm brought Diana out of her thoughts on her missing teammates, blue eyes focussing on the panel in front of her where the image of Steve Trevor, speaking of romantic entanglements, flashed on the screen. There was a discrete pull of the her pink lips as he called her "Angel," even after all that had happened he clearly had fond memories of her, and she of him.-c-
Wonder Woman: Diana stepped to the console and pressed the send button. "Watchtower to Trevor," she started, skipping pleasantries and polite exchanges, they could be handled later. "We copy. Be advised that Lantern is unavailable; he has been drawn to another part of the sector. Superman and myself will intervene, just send me the coordinates," she spoke with the even tone of someone who knew she was in control, who was used to being in control and in the lead. Just as she hung up on Steve she was met with the alert that regarding the canon... "Canon? I was unaware anything was programmed...?" The shock registered on her face and she turned to Superman. "Kal El, you take the satalite, disable it or blow it up, then, I will need your help," she said, not wasting time with the idea that he migfht not agree to her terms. -c-
Wonder Woman: The Amazon Princess sprinted to the Javelin docks and made her way to intercept the warheads, trusting Steve to fulfill his part of the bargain by having the coordinates waiting for her when she got there. -e-
Raven: Rachel was looking out a window, staring at the sky above. It was clear and blue, which she disliked. She would rather have it grey and cloudy, blocking the sun and its “happy” rays. She was currently in the Titans Tower, looking over the city. She disliked that the others had gone to the beach for relaxation and that it was her turn to look over the city. It was something that she was capable of on her own, yes, but part of her always got nervous. Why would Robin assign her such a task? Did that mean he trusted her? She disliked going to that part of her mind. Things were things the way they are and that’s how they were; she did not like getting deep into the conversation of things. Thinking about Circe and her power, her attention moved away from the window to a book. She had been reading up on the Goddess lately and her father had been rather quiet, which Raven wasn’t sure was a good sign or not. As she grabbed her book, Raven moved her feet and let them stay on the glass table -c-
Raven: was placed in front of her. Opening her book, she looked over at the computer monitor that would warn her of any activity. Since the light was still green, she kept reading about the Goddess, waiting for something exciting to happen. A barely visible frown was on her lips. She shouldn’t have taken this job, should she? Even though she liked that she had no company, the only way of entertainment were her books, which she had read at least five times. It was starting to get boring without her teammates here. -d-
Oliver: Sighed as he looked through the glass to the still prone form of Dinah. The doctors had absolutely no idea what was going on with her condition and that was worrying. There he stood, across the street towards the hospital, standing watch as a silent protector. He was certain that she had enemies that would have capitalized upon her weakened condition. Breathing in and then out, his eyes caught movement within her room and that was when he tapped his communication peice and there he overheard the whole list of warnings that were being shouted through the conversation for aid. Now that was... alarming. Who the hell could have highjacked the military missile system? ".... We're in the middle of a crisis and your shaking a coma case?" He spoke through his own voice scrambling device, wondering if the man had a line on something going on as he turned his head to regard his personal vehicle hidden within the alleyway to his side.
Kal El: Of the six, Superman stood in the middle, with Wonder woman to his right, and two to his left. Keeping his stoic composure, arms folded loosely across his chest and his face stern. Unphased by the aggressiion displayed by Batman. When the Justice League was first started and their egos were hot, such an attitude could be unjarring. However, now there was someone who needed to take charge and if there was anyone who would put the job first without emotion it was Batman. Understanding this, Superman held great respect. Canary's absence was immediately noticed, being a reporter in his civilian disguise, noticing such things had become second nature, however his trusting and hopeful natured made him assume everyting was alright. As Bruce left the room, he darted his eyes toward the right, looking at that flowing black cape until it left. Eyes darted forward, looking to the window and the endless canvass of space.-c-
Kal El: Little time for idle thoughts, only moments passed since he saw the first star before the computer’s alarmed with a notice. On display was Steve Trevor. Unearthly blue eyes looked to Wonder Woman as she took the message. Having no problems with the orders, Superman however did hesitate for a moment. As always he wanted to do everything by himself. A hesitant look expressed across his visage, he wanted to ask if she needed help. However, Superman knew what he had to do. “Right. I’ll do whatever needs to be done. I don’t need to say this, but if you need help… Just call.” –e-
The Watchtower would respond to Diana’s question to Steve. “Coordinates located, Nuclear missile heading North West, estimated time to impact, 2 minutes. Satellite charged in 30 seconds. The missile was flying over India by the time Wonder Woman’s javelin would intercept it, its flight path would be aimed towards Afghanistan. There was no special protective shielding or any defensive measures on the missile other than its rapid speed and acceleration to its destination. The Satellite would have no counter measures of its own as well, however; it would be unmarked while transmitting and receiving information towards Washington DC. Flash looked at Superman. “I got your back out there from right here. I’ll also keep you up to date on Wonder Woman’s status.”
Batman wasn’t in the hospital with Dinah, but her bedroom where she had gone to sleep before Doctor Destiny invaded the World’s dreams. “Dinah.” Batman huffed and immediately wrapped his arm around her shoulders and thighs to lift her up. “Batman to Watchtower, I need transport to the Watchtower…Also, patch me a line to the Titans, I need Raven on the Watchtower. Black Canary is still sleeping and isn’t waking up.” The Flash would respond. “We got a bit of a situation up here, Bats. Standby.” “What kind of situation?” “Satellite about to make New York a crater and a nuke on its way through the Middle East.” Batman would sigh bitterly. “The never ending fight…” In a split second Batman was beamed onto the station and carried Dinah into the infirmary onboard. Then he came to the main computer room, walking to the computer next to <c>
Flash, Batman picked up a communication line to the Titans. “Batman to the Titans. There’s an emergency, we need Raven.”
Wonder Woman: Before leaving for the Javelin, Diana gave Kal a small smirk, a private smile shared with a dear friend, for indeed there were few who were able to understand each other as Kal and Diana. "You are correct, you did not need to say it," she teased him. "But the offer is never the less appreciated," she finished her thought and headed to the Javelin. True to form, Steve had the coordinates she needed and had forwarded them on; she smiled at the warm memories that came back to her, only to shake them clear. No, focus, she thought to herself. She punched the coordinates in and strapped herself into the craft. Diana could fly on her own, but there had never been any confirmation that she could operate in space for extended periods of time, never mind the friction and heat that would come from reentering the Earth's atmosphere. Hera help me, she thought, wondering just who could be behind this. -c-
Wonder Woman: The Javelin was set on autopilot, she knew that allowing the warhead to detonate anywhere in the atmosphere was a no go - this was a nuclear weapon and the fall out would be too great were it to happen. Diana still didn't understand why the Patriarch's world thought they needed weapons such as these, but that thought process didn't really matter now, what mattered was making sure this thing didn't blow up the middle east. With the craft on autopilot, Diana left the cabin and flew behind it before putting on a burst of speed, trying to catch the missile. Fast as it was, she would close the gap and inspect the smooth hull. The English words and the American flag caused Diana to pause; surely the US hadn't launched this... Could they have? She shook away the doubts. No, which meant that there was nothing which would lead Diana to discern who was actually behind this. The list of people who would want to restir the conflict between the US and the Middle East was longer than her lasso. -c-
Wonder Woman: That knowledge was secondary, what she really needed to do was figure out how to get it off target. The message came from Batman regarding Canary and she sighed; Dinah had been off, even in the dream. She didn't seem to have fought as much as the rest of them have. "Copy, Batman. The warhead appears to be American. Any advice?" -e-
Raven: The light quickly turned into red while Raven wasn’t looking. Batman’s voice made her look over and a very very small frown was on her lips. Standing up, she put the book of spells aside and went over to it. Grabbing onto the headset, she put it on and sat down, feeling something in her heart when Batman had asked for herself. Herself…why would they want her? Pushing the feelings aside, she spoke up. “Titans to Batman, message received. Raven here. All the other Titans are not here, what is the emergency?” She didn’t stop there. Looking over at the monitors, her fingers started looking for any danger in Jump City. Seeing as there was no danger, she was rather confused, but her face held itself. “…” Thinking about the other’s identity, Raven wondered if it was that. Were they going to erase her memory because of the knowledge? Once again, she pushed the thought aside as she gave up on typing. No emergency in Jump City…then what could it possibly be? Was the threat Doctor Destiny -c-
Raven: again? Is that why they needed her? Finding no answer anywhere, she wondered if her father was going to get involved again. Listening to nothing but quietness in her mind, she relaxed just a tad, but kept her focus and defenses up. Looking over at the monitors, she noticed that a Titan would have to look over the Tower for her. Typing a bit, she sent a message to their leader, Robin: I have to go. Batman needs me. Come home ASAP. She didn’t wait for a response, knowing her leader well that he would come to the Tower’s aid. -d-
Oliver: Stiffened when he heard the communication about his long time comrade Canary had been transported up to the tower. That made him turn his head to regard the area before he tapped his communication peice, the voice scrambler kicking in as he did so. "Get me up there." He stated lowly before he was transported up to the Justice League Tower. This was a place that he found remotely like a metal tomb. But he couldn't argue with it's location, being in neutral territory like it was. There he stepped off of the pad and he stepped forwards, those green boots hitting the ground as he moved towards the Control Room and he stopped just past the gateway. "Where is she." That statement was not a request, it had been a demand with a voice that demanded an answer.
Kal El: Looking to the Flash, Superman gave a small yet warm smile. Worries were put to ease, to a degree. Superman never stopped worrying, though he always kept it from consuming him. For a long time it was challenging to leave the others to defend for themselves. Though he wanted to trust everyone, believed in trusting people was important, however the fear of loss sometimes got the better of his worries. After a few years, he grew to trust and believe in his comrades and friends, knowing they would be fine even if he wasn’t there. Glancing back at Wonder Woman, he spoke no words and just gave her a nod. There was little time, and out of those who were available, Superman might be the only one able to stop it in time; assuming there would be no surprises. It took Superman a brief second to memorize the cooridnates, witin his mind's eyes he could see where he had to go like a map. A red and blue blurred where Superman once was, and tailed him as headed out the docking doors. -c-
Kal El: The fastest Superman had flown before was leaving Metropolis to The Block within two minutes, though that was without stressing his abilities. Many times at The Block, Dr. Vertas put his abilities to the test and among those his speed was one that could not be properly assessed. ‘You can do this Clark.’ Superman told himself. He always referred to himself as Clark within hid inner thoughts, even while the House of El symbol was spread across his chest. It was who he was raised as, though he learned about his real family, he could identify himself no better than Clark Kent. The Satellite came into view and his ears told him it was about to fire. Though it seemed he still had 10 seconds left to spare. –e-
Donna Troy: Donna was driving on the interstate back towards her apartment. The wedding she had been taking pictures of was at least 150 miles away. "Only thirty miles to go." Her communicator had been oddly quiet today or so it seemed. "Don't tell me." She said while flipping the device's on switch. "You're kidding." An unfortunate turn of events. Wonder Girl of all people had forgotten to turn the device back on after turning it off for work. Normally photoshoots allowed her to use her devices, but the bridezilla today was picky. "Wonder Girl to Raven. I'm approaching the edge of Jump City. I've had my earpiece on off all day. Is there anything going on I should know about?" What a shame that she of all people would be lacking such vital information. In the back of her mind Donna argued with her inability to say no to her clients.
Within the walls of the Pentagon strategy room, politicians and military generals assembled reviewing the global map. “Justice League have an aircraft in the area, satellites report its Wonder Woman!” Talk within the room began to brew, hope began to stir. Batman heard Wonder Woman’s response and replied calmly. “The missile should be divided into three parts. Break off the rocket thrusting it forward. Be careful, once you separate the two, the warhead may spiral out of control and become uncontrollable. Once you have the warhead in tow, bring it into space, the vacuum will keep it away from Earth’s atmosphere.” Waiting for Wonder Woman’s next answer Batman would continue. “The next step is to search for a control chip located somewhere at the front of the rocket, there should be a panel that allows you to access it. Pull out the control chips and the warhead is disabled.” <c>
Batman gave Green Arrow a quick glance before pointing to the hallway. “The Infirmary.” “Alert, emergency signal transmission authorization: Ace.” Flash and Batman traded glances. “I can’t leave.” Flash looked at Batman and spoke, his voice concerned, but also forceful. “Go Bats, I got things under control…Just don’t take too long.” Batman stiffened his chin looking at the Flash. “Flash…Thank you. Update Raven on the situation when she arrives.” Batman dashed through the hallways towards the teleportation room and as Batman left the watchtower, so Raven would arrive. <c>
The Satellite would scream as its laser charged and a beam began to formulate in front of its “telescope” lens. The satellite was apparently disguised as an image telescope, but inside it harbored a deadly cannon aimed at Earth. It was in this moment, Superman saw Krypton explode before his eyes in a split second, a reaction that would no doubt cause Superman to flinch as the imagery would’ve been unexpected; as though it was planted in his mind.
Wonder Woman: "Copy," she said with a nod. She was getting better at this technological stuff, though she was still a relative ludite. She was learning, though, and making progress in leaps and bounds. It was a long time since she had made her way into the Patriarch's world. She understood most of the words Batman had said, which was an improvement from when she thought "chip" was simply something that came off a chunk of stone during carving. She looked at the seams of the weapon and indeed, there appeared to be three sections. A fuel cell, an ignition cone and the nose piece with the warhead. She followed Batman's instructions and broke the warhead off from the other two parts. Without the war head the rocket simply crashed into the desert causing a small explosion but from Diana's vantage point there weren't any casualties. The warhead began to drop, but Diana was quick on the response, her lasso wrapping the shell quickly, hauling it up until she held it in her hands. -c-
Wonder Woman: Diana moved into the upper atmosphere and kept going, still unaware how long she would be able to operate in the vacuum of space. Even while she was risking her own life she was worried about Dinah and for Kal, working to disarm the canon. -e-
Raven: As she noticed another light, Raven turned her attention slightly and stared at Donna’s message. “Raven to Wonder Girl. Batman has an emergency and I must go. The details are not clear yet.” She wasn’t sure what else to say to Wonder Girl after that. Knowing that she would want the details later, she quickly added. “I’ll tell you all about it later, promise.” Raven wondered what compelled her to say the last word, but she knew that Donna would probably ask her a million questions if she didn’t say that word. After that, she took off the headphone as she was transported to the watchtower. At first, Raven took in the surroundings and everything. “…” She remained quiet, staring at the color of the walls, floors, and everything else. Instead of spending another moment at watching everything, she noticed a superhero nearby: The Flash. She took a step forward, rather cautiously, then started walking to him normally. “Hi…” she started, her voice was slightly shy and barely hearable, -c-
Raven: unlike her usual harsh monotone voice. Raven clearly knew that they weren’t her friends and that she was a guest here. She did not want to overstep boundaries. “…What’s the emergency?” She asked, not taking her eyes away from the Flash. The back of her mind did wonder where Batman was. -d-
Oliver: Looked towards the control panels and then he looked towards the screens for a moment. He had thought about remaining in the command center to see what he could do. But that thought was fast and fleeting as he turned and moved towards the informary, down the hallways, pausing only once to get his barings before he arrived at the ward stepping towards the glass sheet, peering towards her prone form. There were no machines except for the digital screen monitoring her functions. Some sort of sensory equipment within the matress he figured. And there he turned his head to look towards the new comer that would have been informed of his friends location, his dark eyes narrowing on her cloaked form. That was new, and someone that he hadn't met before. "You are?"
Kal El: The sound was so loud to Superman that it was almost painful. Though he had suffered worse, such as a sonic disrupter pointed inches away from his head, pain was still pain. Pushing through it, Superman made his way directly underneath the supposed trajectory of the laser. There was a chance he couldn't stop it in time, however at the very least he could still prevent the Earth from becoming it's victim. With hands extended above his head, Superman flowed directly at the satellite's firing point. Suddenly stopping midflight, a vision came to Superman. Unlike when he recalled the satellite coordinates, he vividly saw the end of his homeworld. While he had seen it before, it was an imagination that displayed in his mind. This time however, the destruction of Krypton looked so real. As if Kal was standing there floating just outside Krypton's orbit, he could see, hear, and feel it's death. Shaking his head, the moment had passed and bove him he saw the flash of light.-c-
Kal El: The bright illuminance of the laser encompassed Superman, blinding him from sight as the beam fired down below at him.-e-
Donna Troy: Batman? If he needed Raven then the mission had to be selective. Donna did not want to think of herself as a liability, but in case of magic and sorcery there was little she could do. There was something bigger to this story though. It was suspicous to think that the rest of the Titans would be left. "Diana." That's what worried her. How could she feel confident without knowing if her sister was okay? Donna stepped on the gas peddle harder. She would be damned if she got a ticket for something as serious as this. Flying was out of the question until she got back to the tower to check on things. People were out and about on the road. It would have been too risky.
Batman arrived in the Batcave and began jogging towards the elevator; there was no damage to the batcave. “Alfred?! Tim?!” his voice echoed throughout the cave. He tapped the computer but, it would detect the cameras in Wayne Manor were disabled. Batman narrowed his eyes and began running for the elevator. “Alfred! I’m coming!” A bookcase opened up in the living room and Batman stepped out into the darkness of Wayne Manor, every light was extinguished, Batman felt comfortable in the darkness, but for once the Darkness held its eyes upon him. A predatory instinct within him told him that he was being watched; he was being hunted. His hands prepared batarangs sliding the devices from his hips as he slowly proceeded into the main room of Wayne Manor.
The Flash looked at Raven and waved down the Hallway. “Black Canary is still sleeping, he wants to know if you can wake her up…I think. She’s in the infirmary with Green Arrow.” Flash watched as the Satellite fired. “Supes?! You alright big guy?” The cannon would blast Superman and cause fragments of light to waver to all sides of Superman, he would feel its power surging against him, ripping at his molecules and attempting to tear him asunder. He would feel the sunlight peering around the Earth to offer a blessing onto Superman’s being allowing his concentration to resist and fight back against the laser cannon. The fragmented beams splintered off towards various directions. If Superman took offensive action he would be able to attack the laser. If he chooses to stand and endure the beam it would soon burn out after 20 seconds.
Bane: Darkness was home, ambient light stretched and illuminated, but here, in this place, neither of the men would need it. The Butler had been quick work, he could have killed him, but where was the challenge in that, besides, one never knew when they'd need a hostage to tug at the pitiful heartstrings of their enemy. He was merely unconcious for now, stuffed inside one of the many closets of the manor. He saw the shape, the designated outline of a man who seeked to be a hero. The man who had been the center of all his dreams and nightmares and tonight was finally the night. His hand reached out, grabbing for the man's wrist, his large form, agile like a lion as he moved to grip the other. "Your toys won't help you now, Batman." Bruce Wayne was the mask, Bane could see it from the very beginning. Batman was the true persona, and tonight, he would defeat him. -c-
Bane: Twisting his wrists, he hoped to break the grip on those Batarangs while raising his left leg, planting his right, he thrust his boot forward into the his back, releasing his arms to send him flying across the living room, if all went according to plan, that is. "Can this really be the terror of Gotham?" His voice was calm and cold, a predator that had not only found, but delighted in toying with his prey. "How could you busy yourself with all those distractions, and miss the big picture. Greatest detective indeed." His feet fell heavy on the floor of the living room as he approached, what he imagined was the recovering body of the man before him, he flexed needlessly. "There will be no games tonight, Dark Knight, tonight, we enter the arena and we don't leave until one of us is broken."
“ARGH!” Batman felt his wrist grabbed and instinctively twisted to swing his punch and bash Bane across the face, but it was interrupted as Bane’s foot stomped onto Batman’s lower back, metal plates shifted and creaked as Batman tumbled forward. The clattering of Batarangs from his hand hit the floor. But his other hand still held a single one. Rolling onto his back, Batman hurled a batarang recklessly towards Bane’s shoulder aiming to stab him. Batman rolled backwards to put distance between him and Bane. Raising his fists to put up a defensive guard of a panther martial arts stance. His knuckles pointed towards Bane. “Bane…You don’t belong here!” Batman growled stepping into Bane’s direction attempting to strike the man with Batman’s titanium knuckle at Bane’s mouth.
Wonder Woman: Diana continued to work on her problem. The nuclear warhead had been removed from the missile, and she was now left with the task of removing the device's navigation. It had no drive of its own at this point, so it wasn't going anywhere except straight down, if Diana dropped it, but there was still the matter of the fact that his was a live weapon. She disabled the navigation, by which she means she crushed the computer. The Watch tower would have radiation proof storage facilities for the item, and she would need to make sure this went into one of them. While her own body didn't seem reactive to radiation, there were many mortals among the Justice League and they would get sick from what she knew, after prolonged exposure. She passed through the airlock and set it in the same vaults where shards of Krypton were kept, under lock, key and password with only the core members of the Justice League having access. -c-
Wonder Woman: She tapped her communicator, "Do we have an update on Superman or Black Canary?" she asked, feeling acutely concerned for both of her friends, torn between wanting to help both, but not entirely knowing how, especially with Dinah. -e-
Raven: After she had asked that question, a presence snapped Raven’s eyes away from the Flash. She looked over at Oliver, noticing that his eyes were narrowed. It was obvious that the other didn’t trust her, much less if he knew her identity. However, wanting to get on their good side, she knew that she had to reveal herself as Raven. She wasn’t ashamed and she knew that part of her couldn’t care about it at the moment. “Raven.” She spoke, staring at Oliver, wondering who he was. Instead of asking, Flash made her attention get turned away once again. To wake her up? Raven stopped and looked over at Black Canary laying down. “…I can try.” She had a feeling that they tried everything and that Black Canary was still wasn’t waking up. Seeing as she had to help her “friend,” Raven went over and stood beside of her. “…” Looking down at the victim laying on the bed, Raven sat down and reached out, gently touching her forehead. Her eyes turned to Oliver once more. It seemed that the Flash was -c-
Raven: busy with someone else, which in her case, was a bit great since she didn’t have another pair of eyes on her. Turning her attention back to Black Canary, she used her eyes and mumbled a spell under her breath. “Azarath, metrion, zinthos…” With that, she felt her mind going into Black Canary’s, knowing that she would probably have to give a huge fight and struggle just to get to the girl’s mind, then, she would have to see how to get the girl to wake up. -d-
Bane: Bane easily sidestepped the poorly aimed batarang and raised his forearm, extending it to catch Batman's at the wrist and stop the wide shot. "Pathetic." His teeth found the ridges on the inside of his mask, biting down, the inhalant system for the Venom extract coarsed through his veins. His veins were on fire, his muscles tensed for a moment and then, he felt the unending strength that followed them. The forearm that blocked Batman's initial attack was already reaching, taking hold of of the back of his mask to offer counter pressure before Bane swung his elbow forward, hoping to crush the man's jaw with a single blow. "I've never belonged anywhere! Here, this city, this prison for the corrupt, innocent the just and the insane, this place can be mine, and all that stands in my way is you!" He turned, stepping to the side and using his strength to thrust Batman forward, his boot raising before stomping down, hoping to crush the man's ankle under his intense strength.
Bane: Everything was in place, Batman was skilled in combat, but his mind was elsewhere, troubled, just as Bane had planned.
Oliver: Watched her for a moment, before he nodded his head once and then watched as she went to the side of the sleeping Dinah. He didn't like to wait, but he knew that if Batman had thought that there was a drug in her system he would have analyzed it. No matter what, he couldn't let his rage and frustration about the whole thing get the better of him. He had to take a step back and think about it logically. The Watch Tower was one of the most sophisticated buildings ever conceived and it's security systems were top shelf. There he ndoded his head towards her for her to continue. Even if he didn't like it, Raven may have known more about the situation that he did. Nevertheless though, he tapped his communicator within his ear. "Flash, what's the situation." He asked, even if he wasn't active, he wanted to be informed.
Raven would find herself in Metropolis, a busy city day where a beautiful sun cast its ray upon the city causing it to glow and sparkle. Dinah was apparently standing upon the balcony of an apartment. She was smiling at the sun, but Raven would then spot the image of Clark Kent walking up behind her, wrapping her in his embrace. It was then Raven hear a voice next to her. “Hello Rachel…You do not belong here.” A mystifying voice spoke out to her from a tall, lanky man. Oily black hair that was wild and filling around his head. The tips of his hair were sharp and barbed like. Her imagery of this entity was muddled; it was like a painting of running colors. Large opals of sapphire and royal purple with a white marble in the center stared upon her. He knew he was the most powerful being she had ever encountered. “Am I to assume that *you* are the cause of this?” Lanky fingers stretched out towards Dinah and Clark. His black robe sleeve draped over his arm as he held it out towards the two who began kissing.
Flash heard Green Arrow’s call and explain. “Wonder Woman destroyed the Warhead to the nuclear missile, and Superman is handling the Satellite. Batman had an emergency to handle. Anything else?”
Batman’s panther stance adjusted as Bane took hold of his wrist again, switching his combat style to Krav Maga, Batman’s strength kicked in to resist Bane’s hold, forcing Bane to use more strength to keep Batman’s wrist in his control, but this was a distraction and cunning play that allowed Batman to swipe his fist to rapidly pound the bottom of his fist against Bane’s face before delivering wrapping his arm around Bane’s. Batman wanted to insert dominance, indicating to Bane he wasn’t some punk and that this was HIS city. Batman would attempt to judo swing Bane over his shoulder and drop Bane onto the ground, the off balance and adjustment of Batman’s feet would’ve allowed him to dodge Bane’s ankle strike and afford him the opportunity to flip Bane over.
Bane: This was more like it, the man was finally showing a bit of fight. The Venom he'd just inhaled was doing it's job, giving him massive amounts of strength and a higher pain thresh hold, however, Batman's skill was impressive. Bane tried to remain calm until he was flipped over the man's back. Bane took the moment he was in the air to resecure his grip on Batman, He landed with a grunt of frustration before wrenching his arm forward to pull Batman a bit closer. His hold securing count pressure, he thrusted his elbow forward just above the elbow, pulling his wrist the opposite way in attempt to break the man's arm. "You and I are alike, Batman, born into darkness and pain. The only real difference is that you resist your darkness, while I embrace it!" His powerful legs jutted forward, throwing his shoulder into Batman's sternum as he charged from his lower position. The weight and velocity of the two men crashing through the living room wall and landing them both in the main hall.-c-
Bane: Bane rolled, off to the left and up to his feet, gripping a support from the staircase and ripping it free. Batman had his gadgets and Bane had his, one may have been more technologically advanced, the other was still just as effective when applied properly.
Raven: The light of the busy Metropolis city was something that she did not expect. To be honest, she expected…well she didn’t expect anything. She was too concentrated on the spell. As she moved her hand slightly to block the rays of light, she noticed Black Canary. As she was about to take a step forward, she saw Clark’s figure. A blink. However, once he wrapped his arms around her, she felt rather awkward. She knew what those types of embraces led to and she did not want to see it. Wanting to take another step closer to fly over to her, Raven stopped at a voice. It used her first name, which was something she was not expecting. A microscopic frown was on her features as she looked over to the owner of the voice. She did notice that it was a man rather powerful, perhaps even more than her father, by the looks of it. As the other asked the question, Raven turned her attention back. She slightly cringed at the sight before her, not wanting to see it first-hand. However, she then turned -c-
Raven: her attention back to the mysterious man that she couldn’t figure out why they were in Black Canary’s head either. The question made it obvious that the other wasn’t sure himself. “No.” She responded after carefully thinking about it. The other didn’t seem dangerous, but she wouldn’t let her guard down that easily. “This girl cannot wake up. I am trying to get her to awaken. Who are you? Why are you here? How do you know my name?” She wanted to ask more questions, but thought it would be simple just to ask those three first. It was obvious one question was already answered by the other asking the question of being the cause. -d-
Batman was thrown and felt the beating of Bane’s fist, not the hardest hitting man Batman had encountered…Darkseid, Superman, but Batman wasn’t struck by full force by either. The closest in Gotham City Batman had felt was from Killer Croc. Batman clutched his teeth together, surprised some by Bane’s agility. The Dark Knight was prepared to charge in and fight Bane again, but a sudden dizzy spell caused Batman to stumble once and then regain his footing. “We…are NOTHING alike, Bane.” Batman would release a furious roar and quickly drew his batclaw, launching it towards Bane’s vest to grapple onto him. If the claw attached, Batman’s arms would wrap around the wire and yank Bane’s top-heavy chest towards the Dark Knight. If he was successful, as he yanked Bane Batman would’ve spun and aimed to round house kick Bane in the face. <c>
This would’ve given Bane Batman’s second most powerful leg attack and a firm measurement of how strong Batman was at this time if it struck. Regardless if he was able to hit with the roundhouse kick, Batman would stumble and drop onto the floor and slowly roll onto his stomach to get up.
The mysterious figure looked at her and then held his hand at her with a soft gesture. “I am Morpheus; I am the lord of dreams. This is my world and this is not your problem, Rachel. You should leave. Trust me, Rachel…” Morpheus waved his hand towards Dinah and suddenly Raven would watch as the world changed shape into an ocean scene where Dinah was swimming with Aquaman engaging a submarine that was sinking. For some reason neither Raven nor Dream required a breathing apparatus. The colors of the water were mystical and oily much like Morpheus’ body.
Raven: Raven stared at the hand that gripped her own. Her intuition told her to pull away, but what if something happened in Black Canary's mind? She didn't have control and it seemed that this person did. "Why don't you tell me what's going on with her mind? I'll leave then, if not, then, I shall continue to stay here. I was assigned for a job and I need to complete it. I will not back down because of your words. This woman of mine is a friend of mine and I cannot just leave without knowing what is wrong with her. I'm sure you understand." Even though her words were caring, her voice was monotone.
Dream’s hand was shook, though his gesture wasn’t meant to be a handshake, none the less after an awkward pause he shook her hand and then retracted his hand to his side. His opals focused upon her, a thought of her arrogance intrigued him. “Rachel, I do not want to hurt you, if telling you what is happening to your friend will make you leave, then I will explain…” Morpheus turned his whole body towards Dinah and Aquaman. “Dinah is caught inside the fabric of the dream, the fabric of my power. I must try to remove her without damaging her mind and if I cannot......Understand Rachel, she will die in the awakening world if I do not remove her and her mind will be forever apart of this dream world until I can destroy her memory. Preserving the endless amount of other minds is my duty; one mind is but a small price. Have I answered your questions? Will you leave now?”
Raven: Raven stared at him, wondering what the other superheroes would do about that answer. She wasn't sure since part of her wished to not care for Dinah and to leave. Why was this girl special to her, you may ask? It was a long story, but something pulled her toward Black Canary. She had helped Raven in martial arts for a simple time and treated her like a normal human being. She wanted to return the favor. Analyzing what Dream said, she spoke after a pause of silence. "I do understand, however, is there anything I can do to help?" Rachel knew the answer to this immediately, or at least, she thought she knew. The answer would probably be no. Staring up at Dream, she wondered if it was possible to just tell her friends all of this. "Is there any way that the Justice League can help her survive this?"
Black Canary: Black Canary's usual uniform looked more like a wetsuit, her swimfins flipping as she swam over toward the hatch on top of the submarine. She gave a nod to Aquaman as he swam toward the submarine and grabbed it, pushing back against it, preventing it from sinking further. The Canary smiled at him as she worked the large wheel to get it open and free the crew. They worked in perfect unison a team. The oily watercolor sea rippled and shifted about them. Corals and undersea mountains turned into large buildings and skyscrapes. It was nighttime, but the neon lights and street signs seemed to glow unusually bright. Despite this the start glowed brightly. It was obviously Gotham, but it seemed different. It seemed ideallic. The streets cleaner, the colors brighter. Dinah was fighting literally back to back with batman on top of a building. There were a dozen thugs charging at them and they fought them smootly, pulling off combos with each other. Dinah's finger had a large ring on it. (d)
“The Justice League?...” The words as though asking a Ship captain to recall an exact location on the ocean by memory and without a computer. Dream and Raven would find themselves standing on the ledge of the building Dinah had changed the dream into, both of them seemed only an inch away from falling into death, but once more neither of them would be concerned as fighting ensued around them. “This is an extraordinary circumstance, Rachel. Dinah’s mind is infused within the dream that kind of power was not meant for mortals to have. Her connection is stealing the mind of others.“
Raven: Raven turned her gaze from Dream to Dinah, trying to understand what was happening. A very small frown came onto her lips, but her face remained as calm as ever. She stared at the ring, wondering if the real Black Canary would ever marry. Her thoughts were reeled back as she turned to look at Dream once again. "Connection is to steal the mind of others? How do you know this? What does that mean, exactly?" She looked back at Black Canary, ignoring the ring completely, feeling rather worried for her friend. Not even her idol could keep her eyes away from the woman. "...And yes, the Justice League. Her friends are behind her completely. They sent me here and I don't want to leave with a blank answer if they can or cannot help her at all."
Black Canary: The thugs went down, some two at a time. Dinah was smiling brightly obviously enjoying herself. She hoisted herself up onto batman's shoulder's and then flipped off him to land behind a very startled thug, taking him out and then grabbing another to swing into Batman's kick. They were running out of thugs, it was like some kind of dance. Dinah stole a kiss from batman as she moved past him to get another thug. She smirked at his smile. was she flirting in the middle of a fight?
“I grow impatient, Rachel. You may tell your friends that she is being taken care of. That I will help her.” Morpheus’ voice seemed to grow a bit more agitated and within his oily opals she could see what appeared to be a yellow star-shaped diamond glowing brighter, before it wasn’t there. If Raven had any sense of self, perhaps she would feel a cold sweat on the back of her neck. A sinking feeling within her stomach, somehow she knew of his power and yet she didn’t know who he was.
Raven: The sweat beading down the back of her neck was something she did notice, but the fear she was used to. She knew how to control it and surpressed it. "Let me ask you two more questions." She raised her voice slightly, demanding authority. She knew that it was something difficult to do, but part of her wanted Black Canary's safety. "How am I suppose to trust you and if you are so powerful, don't deny it because I can feel it, then why don't you do something about Black Canary as it is? Something isn't adding up and I want to know why it doesn't. After those two questions, I'll leave."
“I am the lord of dreams, Rachel. Here I am the ruler. And it is here I do not find you amusing.” Lifting his hand out towards her as the stars in his eyes flared bright amber towards her; Raven would suddenly find herself on board the Watchtower next to Dinah’s sleeping body, Green Arrow was also sleeping on a nearby medical bed, apparently having passed out…Raven may have wondered how long she had been walking into Dinah’s dream, but indicators on the medical computer would imply it was a whole day since she entered Dinah’s dream. Within the Dream realm, Morpheus lifted his hand towards the wall sky next to the building. “My sister…Desire, I seek audience with you in my realm. Please come in.” Morpheus would look to the portal to see his sister walk through; he knew what form she would be in due to his desire to speak to *her* right now. <c>
“Desire…It would appear we are but intricate parts to my current situation…” Morpheus started with his hands tucked into his sleeves as he stood dutifully before Desire.
Raven: Part of Raven knew that just happened was going to happen. She wasn't an idiot, but she wasn't scared of this Dream character either. Regaining all of her senses and finding it to be very different from the dream, she slowly pulled her hand back from Black Canary's head. Her eyes dulled as she stared at the woman sleeping in front of her. Standing up, she brushed herself off very slightly and looked over to where Green Arrow was asleep. Knowing that she should report her findings, she went over and lightly gripped his shoulder. Knowing that there may be a chance of being attacked, Raven kept her guard up as she slowly started to wake her shoulder. "Wake up." Her voice lacked compassion and emotion as if it didn't care that she was waking him up from probably the only sleep the superhero got.
Villainess: Desire strode through the portal, smirking, looking smug, confident. Wearing a white button down shirt and tight leather pants. Desire was beautiful, it was hard to tell if desire was a man or a woman, but beautiful none the less. "Hello darling Brother. An iniviation to your realm? I couldn't resist, I thought you told me to to never come here again. Desire looks around and smiles at batman and black canary together. "My, they are nice couple aren't they?" Desire looks over Dream slowly. "Can I help it if Dinah is happy that she gets all her desires in dreams?" she gives a little smirk. (d)
Destruction of the Endless: - In a faraway plane, over a cliff that seemed endless, Destruction was worried. Being the aspect of change he grew restless as the visions of death and destruction started to appear in his paintings, unconciously of course, but they were there. He had abandoned his realm and his duties as the Aspect of Destruction, but that didn't mean he didn't see what happened in the plane of humans. He looked down the huge abyss next to his house. He had a painting in his hand one that depicted one of his siblings in it. He threw it down the abyss and walked towards his house. Inside there was a small corner where the sigils of his siblings rested, he had to at least alert him. He picked up a small mask, HIS mask and whispered. - "Dream, I'm holding your sigil so you'll hear me." - He waited for his response.
“This isn’t a game, Desire…I asked you here because I know you’re not to blame for this problem, but none the less you are a part of it and your help in solving it would be necessary I believe.” Morpheus looked to Dinah sensing her complete conscience while also detecting some of Bruce’s conscience; it wasn’t complete, which was strange because…Dream stared off into the sky from the sky scraper when his brother’s voice echoed to him. Dream opened another portal and waved his hand to change Dinah’s memory to one of her others that was of an beach and light house, she was sunbathing next to Bruce. Dream and Desire would be standing by the light house overlooking a crowded beach. If Destruction were to join them, he too would be next to the light house.
Raven would find that Oliver was completely passed out and unable to be awoken, if she went to check the watchtower she would find that Flash had left. Within the Justice League main computer a television program would be displaying…”Top story of today, is Batman dead? Brutally beaten by the criminal Bane, Batman’s lifeless condition was put on display for the world to see yesterday night, he was rushed to an undisclosed location, but police later revealed to us that the ambulance that took The Batman wasn’t any registered to any hospital in Gotham and its location is currently unknown. We’ll keep you up to date as information comes in.”
Black Canary: The world about the two Endless ripples again. Dinah is sitting in fancy restraunt, wearing her little black dress. She is taking in the scent of a rare homegrown rose. Waiting for someone. Oliver Queen strides into the busy restraunt and the details of everyone else there fades, oil crayon charactures of people. It is as if he is the only one who is important there. She smirks as he joins her. "5 more minutes and I would have joined you. Have fun babe?" she pauses as he was about to ask how she knew, just giving him a big hug. "I saw you on the news." she laughed a little and gave him a kiss. (d)
Villainess: Desire rolled their eyes. "You are always so dramatic and business." He/she watches amused as they are in a restraunt now, standing at a little railing on the top floor looking down at the two making eyes at each other in the dim little restraunt. "yes it appears, that I am a part of this. She has a lot of desire, as if she is worshiping it, I would be flattered, but it seems that she is also playing off the desires of others in your realm." Desire leans against the railing. (d)
Destruction of the Endless: - Destruction looked over his shoulder, did Dream pull him into his own realm? That wasn't how things worked...he sighed and finally sank in his surroundings. He was in a restaurant of sorts, but the fabric of reality there seemed thin, was he in a Dream? He started to walk around, everything around him also seemed hazy, as if a child had painted the reality of his surroundings, what was Dream doing in a child's dream? He suddenly stopped when he saw two of his siblings, Dream and their Brother/Sister. "I called you, brother, why didn't you answer?" - He asked squinting his eyes and crossing his arms. "Hello sister/brother, I didn't think you'd be around, maybe it was for the best that i came here." - Destruction smile to his siblings.
Dream didn’t pull Destruction into the realm; he opened a portal to invite him into his domain. Upon seeing Destruction, Morpheus questioned. “What is it, Destruction?” his tone and words very pointed and not wasting time. Morpheus wouldn’t have wanted to waste time dealing with his brother and his excuse for walking away, but it was different that Destruction sought out Dream, perhaps something was wrong, much like Death would be there for Dream, Dream would be there for Destruction if he needed him. Desire’s words merely rolled off his shoulders and suddenly he wasn’t important, but Morpheus wouldn’t admit that, of course he was important although he wasn’t the focusing point of Morpheus right now. “I am busy, Destruction, what’s happening?”
On board the watchtower she would hear the sudden squeak of a medical bed carrying Bruce. “Oh, excuse me…” Alfred spoke, when Bruce opened his eyes to see Raven, she would see his head bandaged, his nostrils, lip, eyes purple and cut open from direct blows to the face from a powerful fist. “Raven…” Bruce mumbled. “What…what’s the situation?” Alfred’s facial expression was grim as he faithfully stood by Bruce’s side, examining Bruce’s stable condition, it was just past a full cycle of Bruce’s beating to Bane and it weren’t the help aid of Dr. Midnite, Bruce would probably be dead.
Raven: As the squeek pulled her thoughts away from Green Arrow, she looked over to see Alfred and Bruce Wayne. She went over, staring and analysing all the bruises he had. She stayed quiet for a while, listening to his question. She then looked over at Black Canary and back at Batman. "...Black Canary is in her mind, dreaming of Superman and you. There was a powerful man inside her head. He told me a few things, but he kicked me out in the end." She stared at the bruises and felt a need to heal him. Knowing that she had too much respect for Batman's thoughts, she kept informing him of what happened inside the dream, not forgetting any detail. She even reasked the questions and told the answers that Dream had said, word for word. After a pause, she stared at Bruce, her voice still monotone. "...Do you wish for me to heal you?" She didn't want to hurt his pride.
Villainess: Desire looks a bit surprised to see Destruction in the dream, but doesn't bother to greet him. "Now you are truely the last one I thought I would see here." Desire's voice a little cold and dry. "Something must be wrong if you are willing to visit us..." she looks at the blonde and then at Dream. "I suppose this can wait... have you tried talking to her yet?" asked desire slicking back their hair a bit, amused. (d)
Destruction of the Endless: "Visions, brother mine, visions of destruction and in one of those I saw you. I have broken my vows and I should be punished for it, but I wouldn't let my brother get actually hurt without trying to stop it, or at least help him somehow, whatever is happening I'll assist you. So don't lose this." - He throws a small amulet of a sword. - "My sigil, for when you need to call me." - Olethros walked towards his brother/sister and rested his on her/his shoulders. "Don't be so cold to me, sibling of mine, I have missed you immensely, but this is no time for greetings, the shadow of destruction is at hand and if we're to do something about it, i suggest we start with the dreaming woman."
“I have…others to help me, Raven…” Bruce paused to breathe. “You…have to help Black Canary…I’ll go with you. I need to rest, and whatever it is in there, we can’t let it take her. My body is weak, but my mind…I can help you.” Alfred would protest. “Absolutely not. Master Bruce, you’re far too vulnerable of a condition. Going against Dream monsters, you have no idea what they could do to you.” “Alfred...I can’t sit by and allow Doctor Destiny to kill one of my friends. I’m dead already, Raven. Let me help her this last time.” Bruce and Alfred truthfully didn’t know Bruce’s fate, they had both seen people in similar condition and their results were 50/50 with a 70% failure rate.
Examining Destruction’s words Dream glanced to the railing and came to peer over it and down to Dinah and Oliver…his conscience too was partially there. “With Destruction here, my theory may be true…I was going to attempt saving her, but perhaps removing pieces of her mind before destroying her would be best. She cannot be left to continue on.” Dream’s opals looked upon the scenery, his imagination gave the area less color outside of Dinah, but more color and precision outlining around her immediate area, it would alleviate the strain she was using to create the area. Dream looked to both of them, curious to their thoughts, however conventional they may seem.
Raven: Raven watched as Bruce fought to get the words out. She wanted to protest, but part of her knew it was better not to argue. This was Batman and Robin, her own leaders, trusted him. She knew that they learned from him and wouldn't question it. Looking over at Alfred, she then looked back to him and gave a small nod. "Alright." She knew that the man in front of her had a powerful mind. "I'll help you and we can go in her mind together to stop this." She looked over at Alfred, wondering if she should give him an order. Instead, she would just make it a question. "Could you please put him beside Black Canary? I'll need to be able to touch his hand while we go into her mind. It'll waste less of my magic and don't let anyone seperate our hands, please." She added the last word, her voice still monotone. She went and grabbed a chair, putting it between both beds. She stared at Black Canary, knowing that a big battle was going to manifest itself. However, she knew that Black Canary and -c-
Raven: Batman believed in her and that was all she needed. She didn't need anything else. Wherever her past leaders where, they believed in her too. She had a lot of support and that on its own made Raven a bit more confident to go against Dream and whatever danger lied ahead. -d-
Villainess: Desire gives a soft sigh feeling their older brother leaning on him/her. "I know. I can feel it. But, you know how it affects us when we have to do the favor you asked and to leave you be..." Desire's voice a bit bitter. "You should visit my twin, you know how she misses you..." Desire turns to Dream. "No, I think our realms are getting a bit close for comfort. Destroying her would solve both our problems, although those who desire her, might end up getting visits from Despair. Although..." desire pauses. "If she had no desire to be here... to be with these friends and lovers... she might let go. I can't do that. But you can, either by removing her memories or making this a nightmare she won't forget." desire grins, enjoying toying with Dream and the ideas. (d)
Upon entering the dream, Raven and Batman would find themselves in a restaurant where they would see the walls were blurry and unclear in their design, but what they could sharply see were the details on Oliver and Black Canary. Batman would look at Raven and explain. “I guess we’re here…If this dream monster shows up, keep in mind that there are tricks and illusions we can do to avoid him, something I’m assuming…I picked up studying Doctor Fate. Leaping into another person’s dream might give us the opportunity to escape, at least for a little while.” Approaching Dinah he would grab her arm. “Dinah, we have to talk.” It was then she would notice him intruding into her world, but it would seem as nothing more than an event apart of the dream. Oliver would stand up and frown. “We’re a little busy here, what is it?” “Dinah is trapped in her dreams by some kind of dream lord. We think he plans to kill her.”
Destruction of the Endless: "Whar an awful moment this is, I can feel her sorrow, her guilt, it's almost tiring, how can you live through this every night, brother, is something I don't understand, maybe it's because of that you're so dark all the time." - He smiles. - "So this woman is trying to flee from her life, she wants this? WHat sort of nightmare creature got lost? So many questions and so little time..." - Destruction would rub his chin with the thumb and index finger. He was thinking about a solution that wasn't based around the complete destruction of this woman's memory. A diffult situation Dream was in, but he was only a messenger, Dream was the one that was supposed to fix this, with his help of course, but he would follow his older brother's lead.
Dream found himself confused by Desire and suddenly Desire’s motives were as they always were…questionable, toying, playful, and deceptive. Did she want Dream to destroy this person? Was it the right thing to do? Destruction warned that something terrible was about to happen and Desire seemed interesting in keeping Dinah alive for her own agenda. This was the situation Dream found himself in, unsure whether he should destroy Dinah’s mind, surgically remove pieces of it, or destroy her completely. It was now his attention fell upon intruders, Batman and Rachel entered his world, distinctly after he told Rachel to leave this to him. “The mortals…They’ll ruin everything. I must deal with them…” Dream would suddenly appear before Raven, Batman, Dinah, and Oliver. “You don’t belong here, Rachel. Whatever you’re trying to do I cannot allow you to proceed…” <c>
The Dream Lord’s eyes would begin to flare a set of amber stars dwelling within a void of oily opals.
Raven: Raven watched as the two interacted, wondering if she should say anything. The last words Dinah said made her lips turn into a very small frown. She was on guard, knowing that Dream would appear soon. That's what he did before and this time it would be no different. She took a step forward, looking at Black Canary right in the eye. "Is this what you've become? Weak? Fragile? Where is the Black Canary that Gotham knows? Are you chosing your own opinion against everyone's? Are you going to stay here, when you can be out there, helping the world?" Her questions didn't stop. They were about to turn harsher. "Are you going to be selfish and stay here while you can go out in the world and save innocent lives? Are you going to stay here, cry, while a women, men, and the Justice League need your help to stop evil? Are you going to turn your back on all of them, abandoning them? Are you going to be like Zatanna Zatara who turned her back on me? Are you going to make me lose my respect for -c-
Raven: you, Black Canary? After everything that we've been through. All for what? Men? Really, Black Canary? Look within yourself. You're not thinking logically and men shouldn't control your life. Women shouldn't either. Why waste your power when someone else who wants them to do good for society doesn't have them?" Her questions stopped there as she was interrupted. She looked over at Dream, her eyes slightly narrowing. Her inner demon was ready for the fight, knowing that she had to protect herself and Bruce. Her hands started to glow with dark magic as she looked over at Batman and Black Canary. "You two go ahead and catch up, I'll try to hold him off as long as I can." She turned and gave Black Canary a look. "...You're really going to let us get sacrificed for your own selfish wishes? Fine by me." With that, she turned to give her full attention to Dream. "...I was ordered here and I will serve like a good soldier. Come over here and show me everything you have and I'll give you -c-
Raven: everything I have." She didn't smirk, her voice kept its monotone appearance, even though, deep inside, Raven was mentally shaking. What was she doing? Was she going up against a God? -d-
Villainess: Desire smiles and strides down through the old black and white movie of a restraunt around the mortals. This had gotten a lot more intresting and poor dream stuck in the middle. Dream grins brighter. Desire saunters over to Dinah who seems shocked by all the extra people who seemed to have appeared, who seemed to be more and more withdrawn from everything. "You know what you want... you want it all.. but why did you pick to stay here? You wanted things that you think couldn't happen outside of it... you know their desires outside of here are limited... they could never give you want you wanted... what if there was someone who you could give your all to...?" Desire has their arms about Dinah now, drawing her so close, like a lover's embrace. (d)
Batman’s chin protruded out, listening to Raven chastises Dinah, her words provoked Oliver to growl at Raven. “You listen here, I don’t care who you’re the daughter of, you don’t-…” Batman would raise his hand to silence Oliver as Dream stood before them. “We have to go.” Batman’s tone was spoken in a ‘matter of fact’ format. Dismissive of Desire’s random presence. Batman would attempt to push Desire away in order to speak with Dinah. “Dinah, we need you to take us somewhere else, away from this dream monster.” Oliver would speak up. “Ideally someplace where I can get my gear, Dinah…Oh wait that’s outside…because this isn’t a dream.” Oliver stared at Batman. “We can test it by putting an arrow through Raven.”
Black Canary: Dinah looks at them all confused. Who are all these people?! she didn't want this... she looks at raven, looking ashamed. "Y-you don't know... it isn't just men... or... the league doesn't need me... I was shown... shown so many things... things I desire... and I can't..." tears stream down her cheeks. and then there was... someone... someone talking in her ear. Like a lover. She looks up and sees Desire. So beautiful... and he... or was it she? he, he knew what she felt... and then there was Batman. "Bruce..." she nods and suddenly everything went dark, then light. They were in Dinah's apartment above her shop. There was bright sunlight and the colors were so vivid. She had plants everywhere, growing in the warm sun, some had blossoming flowers. She rushed over to her room and closed the door. She looked at Oliver. "no... she is just saying how she feels..." there was obviously no weapons about. (d)
“A soldier?...If that is what you wish then, Rachel. I suggest…” Morpheus revealed his helmet, a bulb shaped mask with gas tubes protruding from its beak, large opal eyes appeared like sunroofs to the helmet’s eye sockets as it glared at her like an insect. His hand held a pouch of sand. “…-PREPARE FOR WAR.” Dream splashed sand at Raven causing the surroundings to vanish…she was floating in space, amongst the cosmos when a set of red demonic eyes laid upon her. A being so gigantic, his presence would send a paralyzing shiver through her as her mind could hear his foot step upon Earth. His grin was massive and large. “You have done well, my daughter! You have given this universe over to me! Now you will have your reward…” Trigon’s hand would wave releasing blasts of heat to scorch Gotham city, screaming would echo through out it as they were burned with the power of a thousand suns.<c>
Rachel’s mother would be the most echoing voice, as Raven would appear in her home watching her mother turn into a flame, screaming as her flesh melted from her bone. The smell of her iron laced blood roasting sizzled into her nostrils, the charcoal smoke rose above her, pleasantly changing the rusty taste to something far more bearable than that of her dying mother.
Raven: Purple eyes quickly shut themselves as sand entered them. It still hurt a lot and she struggled to open her eyes. She could feel the environment around her quickly shift. Her eyes slowly opened as she stared at the demonic red eyes she had grown accustomed to seeing every time. “…” She stayed quiet, her eyes adjusting to everything she was seeing. Looking over at Earth, her heart sank. This wasn’t real…no. It couldn’t be real, even though it felt real. How many times had she had this nightmare? How many times had she screamed awake because of this dream? Her heart sank more and constricted as she could hear her mother’s voice. It twisted painfully as Raven tried to keep her face with an uncaring impression. Wait…this wasn’t right. It wasn’t right. Trigon was still inside of her, she was a closed portal, not an open one. Knowing that she had to decide whether the first reality was reality or this one, she chose the first one. Batman and Black Canary weren’t around, which was -c-
Raven: something she was grateful for. As she remembered what Dream had said, she kept her face without emotion, staring at her father. She wouldn’t give Dream or her “father” the satisfaction of it. She knew that her mother was probably in Gotham, safe and sound. She had to keep telling herself that. “…What a nice trick.” She mocked at her “father” in front of her. “Say, do you do that trick at birthday parties? If you do, you skipped my birthday.” Raven kept staring at “Trigon’s” eyes, knowing that she was playing with more than fire. She just had to keep her sanity and her emotions in control. She knew that because she was in Black Canary’s mind, she could damage it by losing her control over her powers and letting the real Trigon out. “…This is an old trick, why don’t you try again? I thought you wanted a war, Mr. Is this everything you’ve got? What are you going to do next? Show me my brothers? Show me my friends being tortured? Torture me? I can think of many things that are worse -c-
Raven: than my father taking over the world.” She lied with that sentence, knowing that this was the worst nightmare she could have. She wasn’t going to give up, easily, though. She had a strong will. Batman, Black Canary, and even her past leaders were looking up to her and she wasn’t going to disappoint. -d-
Villainess: Desire glares at Bruce as he interrupts, actually pushing desire to the side and then the blonde she agrees and they are gone! She is angry and then laughs. "Oh Bruce... you are always ruining my fun..." desire mutters to themself. "always trying to deny me..." she turns to face Dream. "Oh, looks like bruce out thought you brother..." Desires sighs. "And you can see how she is just a pawn for her friends, no wonder she wants to stay. But maybe I could take her off your hands..." desire grins wickedly, "everyone wins. Should we follow? it is your realm brother." Desire gives a wink at Destruction. (d)
Superman tapped his ear piece and spoke in response to Wonder Woman. “Wonder Woman, I knocked out the satellite cannon. I also found something strange…I know where the signal was coming from. Regroup on the watchtower, I’ll explain further once we’re together. Superman out.” Flash tapped away at the keyboard reading the instruments waiting for the League members to assemble. Curiously Barry glanced over the signal transmitted from the Batcave, slightly worried Barry tapped his comlink. “Hey, Bats, everything alright?...Bats?”
Batman looked around the area and gripped Dinah’s arm. “Dinah, you need to wake up. That Dream Lord is going to kill you, Dinah. Doctor Destiny left you in this sleep and somehow you’re conscience is trapped here. Did he say anything? Make you do anything that would trap you here?” Batman’s deep voice spoke calmly but, urgently to her hopefully emphasizing the danger of the situation and what was about to unfold. Raven and Batman were both going up against a God or something near to it as far as Batman could tell, but Batman was also skeptical whether this ‘Dream’ figure truly was a God or if he was an imposter attempting to siphon Dinah’s mind. Oliver crossed his arms and looked at Dinah. “Go figure, a monster like Dee behind this. Don’t worry Dinah, you don’t have to face this alone. I’m here for you.”
Green Lantern: "Look... Look I know. I gotta go though? Okay. Look.. Ok... Yeah.. Uh huh.. Yes. .yes.. Gotta go okay? Yes. I know> Okay. Right. Ok. Later...." the blue tooth headset construct disappeared from Hal's ear, "GODDAMIT!" he shouted, shaking his head as he opened the wormhole up from Oa and darted through it. Hal had been gone for some time from his sector due to his responsibilities as a Lantern. He had been pulled back as part of inquiry for a Lantern's death in his nearby sector. The Guardians had learned that he had crossed into the sector through the usage of his Ring and wished to know why he had disobeyed a long standing order. Before he could be punished, his assistance had been required in a massivive rebellion in another sector. He had finally managed to get that taken care of but, right as he was leaving, he had been forced to listen to an earfull from Salaak about following the rules. Exiting the wormhole, Hal appeared close to the League's Watchtower, flying over and
Green Lantern: phasing through the side wall, "Can't believe I'm saying it... but god I'm glad I'm seeing these walls again."
Wonder Woman: "Copy," she said, tapping her ear piece and nodding to the comments made before changing her body's positioning, heading to the Watchtower instead of where Superman had been taking care of the satalite. This was a happy turn of events; Diana had been worried that Superman wouldn't be able to handle it on his own, and if he couldn't, the chances of her body being able to handle it... "Wonder Woman to Green Lantern, you back in town?" she said, tapping her ear piece. The glimmering walls of the space station were a comfortable home away from her home away from home. It was no Themyscira, and it wasn't her brownstone in Gateway City, but it certainly did have a certain appeal. She had a room decorated similar to her home, Greecian architecture, and above all: her friends. She heard Hal's voice even before he replied to the message, chances were he might have missed it, his career with the Lanterns keeping him away from Earth for weeks at a time. She smiled as she came behind him. -c-
Wonder Woman: "They missed you too," she said with a smile. "Welcome home,..." she almost used his name but stopped short. "Superman wants to see us. C'mon," she said, tilting her head to the side. -e-
Black Canary: Dinah looked at batman as he grabbed her arm, looking into his eyes for a long moment, there were tears in her eyes, she looked away. "I saw more than one side of Doctor Destiny... he showed me things... things I wanted... things I didn't know I wanted... to have what I truely desired... things I would be too selfish to ask for... things I couldn't ask others to give... He asked if I wanted to stay and have them. I said yes... I don't want to go. I'm staying." She couldn't meet Batman's eyes. She turns to Oliver. "No. You don't have to stay. I can face anything I need to here. It's my choice. Go... Or I will make you leave..." she suddenly widens her stance and starts to take a breath. Those that knew her, knew what would happen next, she was going to let loose a shriek of sonic waves, and in her dreams, who would know better how affective they could be. (d)
Superman stood with Flash in the main computer room as he heard Green Lantern’s voice. Flash held the monitor noting Batman’s location along with a GPS location in Washington DC. “Not saying I’m Bats or nothing, but I think I got the signal you saw Supes.” Superman nodded. “That’s it all right.” Words of confidence spoke from Superman as he read the map. Superman turned to look at Wonder Woman and Green Lantern. “I saw where the signals for the satellite came from. Flash marked down the location on the map. We also got another problem, Batman was responding to an emergency situation in Gotham, we can check in on him later, right now we need to find out who fired those missiles and who was controlling that satellite. I’ll go visit that Submarine, Hal and Diana, you two go to those coordinates and see if you can find out who was controlling that satellite. Flash, you remain here, if you hear anything from Batman let us know.” <c>
Superman glanced to the emergency room and added. “Green Arrow is looking after Black Canary; she should be safe for now.”
Green Lantern: And there it was: the voice that could make him do loops through the air without a jet or his ring. Turning around to meet her, Hal smiled, "I approve of the welcoming comittee." He felt his heart beat speed up and his own temperature rise as he took a step forward to close the gap between where they stood, "Well he can wait one moment while we say 'hi'," and reaching up with a hand he cupped the side of her cheek, allowing his mask to fade away from over his eyes before leaning into and pressing his lips against her's. It was a risky move when it came to keeping his identity secret. After all, any of the workers or other members of the league, that didn't know, could walk out and see the side of his face and use that to start making a deduction on who he was. Hal didn't care at the moment. He had missed and thought about her every day that he had been gone. She alway understood his duty as a member of the corps and, whenever he left, greeted him like he had only come home from a day's work.
Green Lantern: Finally, Hal let himself pull away from Diana and form his domino mask back over his eyes, "Well... Let's see what Big Blue wants," and tilted his head in the direction before turning on his heel to start walking, falling into pace with her. -e-
Wonder Woman: Diana smiled and welcomed Hal with a hug, kissing his cheek, then the corner of his mouth. "I guess you're right," she spoke in a soft, conspiritorial tone, lingering for a moment as they embraced. "But not too much longer than a moment. I know your red friend is there, and he seems to always be in such a hurry," she teased, tugging on Hal's elbow to bring him along. As they entered and were greeted by Superman, the Kryptonian began letting his plan out. Diana nodded, listening to Superman's report. Standing next to Hal she resisted the urge to lean in closer to Hal; this was business, not a time for socializing. When this was done they would have a chance to get caught up. When he mentioned Arrow was watching over Black Canary, she was immediately reminded of the issue there. "Has there been any changes in her condition?" she asked, cerned for her dearest friend in the patriarch's world.
Bane: "Powerful!" The roundhouse kick was caught on the meaty part of his elbow, luckily missing the radial nerve, it had power, power that Bane knew was there, so it wasn't much of a surprise. His legs braced, but still he had to shift slightly to the left before he ws able to prepare a counter attack. "But slow." As Batman rolled to his stomach Bane gripped both of his ankles, lifting and spinning, in an attempt to bash his head into every object between Bane and the wall. Thousand dollar lamps, walls and stair banisters shattered before He lifted and turned, slamming The Bat face first onto the nearby steps. The name spat like venom. "Instead, the strong will prosper and you will fall." Large hands reached for his calves and the back of his neck, lifting him into the air before slamming him chest first onto his knee. This was the challenge he'd been waiting for, spent months planning, all that time and effort, Batman had overcome them all, but it had taken it's toll on the hero, and now,
Bane: but it had taken it's toll on the hero, and now, Bane was ready to savor his victory.
Villainess: Desire leaned against a table in the restraunt that the remenants of a dream Dinah had. It was merely chalk outlines now, of people and tables, only one table in the center had any real detail. She watched her brother fight the little magic user in his own demain, they both disappeared in a dream that Desire could only imagine was the half-demon's own nightmares brought to life. "Well, it looks like my brother has found his own playmate. I guess that means that I can have my own fun." Desire grinned and went over to the outline of a door. "I can sense you little bird. Even in the maze of your own dreams... You are like a beautiful torch. Let's see how hot you burn..." The beautiful endless opened the door and slinked through. Finding themselves suddenly in the apartment of a reporter for the Daily Planet. Desire strode through the scene and opened a closet door, finding themself in a flowershop. The colors were hypervivid. The blossoms were as big as their fist, explosions of color. -c
Villainess: The sunlight streamed through the store window, the sky was so blue, something rarely seen in Gotham. Desire smiled. "This place is dearest to you Diana, you took us all to your heart. You wonderful girl." Desire strode casually up the stairs and and opened the door to the apartment. Desire smiled seeing two men on either side of the blonde. "Oh, don't mind me. I'm just enjoying the show." said the flawless creature, slicking back some of their dark shining hair.
Batman fell backwards and grunted feeling his body aching and sore from Bane’s attack. Batman had displayed he was capable of toe-to-toe combat against Bane, but Batman’s strategy required finishing Bane quick…Fighting Doctor Destiny, dealing with Nyssa, surviving the mystery linking up to who Bane was. “You spent months hiding in the shadows and you choose to face me now? And you consider yourself stronger than me? You don’t understand me; I fight harder when people are on the line. Gotham needs me and I won’t fail!” Batman charged forward with tiger stance and delivered a few swiping strikes at Bane’s face attempting to break and bash the mask upon his face. His teeth gritting as he engaged Bane again.
Batman listened to Canary, almost disbelieving her words as she was beginning to tear, Batman felt himself hurting within his chest. “Dinah…Don’t…” Oliver grabbed Batman’s arm. “Let her go, Bruce.” Batman’s gaze firmly fell upon her and shook his head. “No. I’m not leaving you here, Dinah. We need you, now more than ever.” It was suddenly Oliver was Green Arrow and he pushed Batman away. “Leave her alone, Bruce! If you make her cry…” Batman swung his fist punching Green Arrow across the chin. “Damn it, Dinah. Wake up! NOW!”
Bane: Bane put his weight on his back foot as Batman rose, his body shaking as he laughed. "I know you better than you know yourself, Batman." His strikes came as quick as he had expected, his arms raising, taking the strikes to his arm before pivoting and attempting an elbow against his neck, from Bane's study the weakest point of his suit before he turned completely and delivered a front kick to Batman's spine. The assault did not end, if all went to plan, the distance the kick created would be enough for Bane to charge and secure his grip once more. "You fight harder, too hard. Your stamina drained, your mind, a mess of unanswered question, Gotham needs a ruler." Bane raised Batman above his head, gripping him by the base of the neck and the back. "Goodbye, Batman." This was it, from the dirty dank floors of Pena Dura, to the slick city streets of Gotham, Finally Bane had found his moment. With a swell of pride and a shout of victory, Bane dropped to one knee as he pulled Batman down, aiming to crack his spine and end his career.
His blows landed unanswered almost, they struck with futility when Bane disregarded him and suddenly knocked Batman back causing the Dark Knight to roar in anguish until he was lifted up he felt helpless as the Dark Knight felt Bane drop him, Batman’s conscience saw the darkness, the screeching of a monster…a Bat. He fell against the floor after hearing a crack and pop within the area. Thunder rolled in the distance as water began to click against the windows of Wayne Manor.
Black Canary: Dinah could feel his eyes on her, she couldn't look up... she was afraid of his dissapointment. Afraid... she felt afraid. She hadn't felt that in so long... not before these dreams... but it was there. She looked up as she heard Ollie. Her breath let out, as she watched he tried to pull Batman away. Like a hero. Oliver was suddenly dressed as the Green Arrow, quiver and all. She heard Batman's words... She could feel the tears coming, she tried to pull them back... "No... you don't you have much stronger... powered heroes... you have other loves... you don't need me..." as batman swung and punched oliver in the chin a tear went down cheek. she was torn... (d)
Villainess: Desire was suddenly behind the blonde, wrapping an arm about her, chin on her shoulder. "My my, you have all the boys fighting for you... You know they both want you right?" grinned the pretty pale face. "They both want you back to help your little social club... but they both care for you as a person, a heroine, and a woman..." the tone was sultry, it sounded good to anyone who heard it. "I would know. I know everyone's desire. I am Desire." smiled the endless, a smile that any moviestar would envy. "And you pretty bird are so full of desire. You kept it hidden for so long... and now... now the ember is a blazing star!" Desire licked their sweet lips. "But they are right my brother wants you out of his dreams... but can you face reality knowing you can't have what you desire? Come with me. I will take you to my heart. you can give fully to all that you want and it will be fully given to you... this will all be gone... not a worry." (c)
Villainess: desire smiles as they eye batman, while whispering to the confused blonde. "come..." (d)
“I’m afraid nothing’s change with Black Canary. Don’t worry, Batman’s called Raven up to find out what’s going on inside her head…We’re all worried about her Diana. For now all we can do is hope that Raven pulls her out of it.” Superman seemed troubled, but the confidence in his voice indicated that he had faith in Dinah and Raven’s ability to survive whatever magic Doctor Destiny placed on Black Canary.
Batman glared at Desire. “Who the Hell are you?” his fists clenched preparing to fight Desire. “Dinah, it could be the nightmare lord…Don’t trust him.” An arrow shot Batman in the shoulder causing a bola to unwind and wrap around Batman’s torso throwing him onto the ground. “Arrow!” Green Arrow armed another and pointed it at Batman “Stay down or this next one goes through your leg, Bruce.”
Bane: He released the limp body of the Batman, letting it fall to the floor of the manor and then standing slowly. He looked over his quarry, his cold grey eyes looking over him. "I'm not going to kill you. Not now, I'm going to let this entire world know that you are broken." He easily hefted the dead weight onto his shoulders before making his exit from the manor, he'd stolen the keys to one of Wayne's many automobiles before driving toward Gotham Police Department. Activating his two way communicator, he immediately called Bird. "That Bat is no more. You and the boys stay low, we don't want the little bird and his friends throwing wrenches just yet." A simple "Roger." came over the Radio. Twenty minutes later, Bane was atop Gotham's police headquarters, a simple but sturdy rope tied around Batman's waist before he was dropped, anchored on an airconditioning Unit. There he hung, the savior of Gotham, until someone noticed him. Bane used the time waiting on the roof until he heard the-c-
Bane: shouts before tucking for the sewers, any and all searching the rooftops would find the batsignal broken.
Batman shivered on his way to the police station where he was then dropped and hung, but he was too crippled to do anything. People took notice, staring and pointed at him. At Wayne Manor Alfred, Tim Drake, and Jean Paul Valley arrived searching through the debris. “Master Bruce?” “Bruce?! Where are you!” The phone rang and quickly Tim picked it up. “Bruce?!” “No Tim, it’s Barbara…Did you hear on the radio? The police channel is going haywire…Batman’s been beaten to death and is hanging from GCPD right now! They called an emergency unit in. Alfred and I are on the way!” Tim hung up the phone and looked to Jean Paul and Alfred. “Batman is hanging from GCPD…They don’t know if he’s still alive. They called in a medical transport.” Jean Paul looked to Tim and Alfred. “We can’t just sneak in and take Batman in front of all those people…”
Tim nodded. “We could take the Bat bomber, Robin and Azrael can pick him up.” Alfred looked towards the entrance to the Batcave. “I can prepare the infirmary.” The trio separated and split. It would be only in minutes that the Bat bomber flew into Gotham City and Red Robin paradropped from the Bat bomber’s hanger door as the police on top of the building were lowering Batman towards the ground. Robin waved attaching a clip to Batman’s belt before reeling up. The police were confused and concerned but as Batman got on board Robin shouted into his microphone. “I got him! Big B is on board.” With a ferocious roar the Bat bomber took off. “Bruce…Bruce come on hear me out buddy! You’re not dead. Please don’t be dead. Bruce!” Tim began to sob. “I lost Steph…I can’t lose you.”
Green Lantern: Following after Diana led Hal to give a nod to Superman before crossing his arms and shifting his weight onto his right leg, listening to the report. Dinah's status being brought up, however, quickly lowered the mood. While he and the others had managed to free themselves from the dream world, Dinah remained inside of it. Magic wasn't his thing so he could only guess why she could get of it. His eyes flicked over to Diana and, seeing the look on her face, he slowly reached up with a hand and placed it on her shoulder, "She'll get out. She's tough." Turning his attention in the direction of the medical bay, Hal thought about the blond. *Never really... confronted her after the thing with my family... Not sure how I feel about her but...... You gotta get out Dinah.* His head shook a bit and he pulled himself back into the moment, "So what do you need done?"
Black Canary: Dinah looked between pretty boy... or was it a woman holding her? She felt something burning within her, something with everyword this beautiful person said... Desire... this person didn't want to destroy her... she saw batman go down. "Bruce!" she reached out for him "Ollie... please don't..." she struggled not sure what she wanted... "I love you both... don't..." she turned to the pretty endless on her shoulder. "I don't want this... I don't want them fighting over me... no one was supposed to be hurt... take me away..." she whimpered. (d)
Wonder Woman: She nodded, not at all put at ease by the words of the Man of Steel, not that anything other than Dinah's miraculous recovery would put the Amazon at any sort of ease. She felt Hal's hand on her shoulder and nodded, feeling the message he was "saying" without words, and hearing loud and clear the one he did speak. "I know," she said, forcing a smile. The easiest way to deal with the stress she was feeling was to throw herself into the task at hand, so... "Yes, Superman," she said, putting her work face back on. "How can we help?"
Superman pointed at the Watchtower computer towards a map of DC, a red locator beacon flashing. “There’s the source of where the satellite that was targeting Earth only moments ago.” Flash spoke up “That satellite wasn’t supposed to be a large cannon. It was supposed to be a telescope.” Superman picked up and continued to speak “It received orders from that building, I saw the radio frequencies coming directly from it. Lantern, your ring should be able to trace the signal, correct? You two need to go down there and find out who gave the order for that satellite to fire on Earth.” The Watchtower computer would then flash. “Message from Oracle…” Tapping the buttons Flash pulled up a news feed from GCN “Batman is Dead?” the news headline emphasized, the banner caused Flash and Superman’s eyes to widen in surprise. “Witnesses claim that a mysterious figure dropped Batman’s corpse from GCPD, but amateur quality video shows that <c>
Batman is still barely alive. As police rushed to rescue the cities’ almost 10 year running vigilante, Robin and other Bat clan members rushed in to snatch him from the public’s eye. This story leaves a lot of those in Gotham wondering, is Batman dead?”
Villainess: Desire turned that pretty chin at Batman's question. "Someone you know quite well. but not in this form. You have said 'no' to me so many times. This pretty bird, catwoman, vikki vale? must I go on? Now it's my turn. 'No.' You had your chance, she's mine now. When you decide you want her... follow me." grinned Desire, obvious the endless considered this all a big game. There was a flash and a portal and Dinah followed as she was pulled into it. Both gone. The dream apartment instantly started to lose it's luster, the colors were off, the shadows were long and drawn out. It looked like Gotham on it's worse day. A day that had lost it's sunshine. In the slanted light from the window was a glass heart resting on it. Waiting to be picked up. (d)
Batman struggled to get up as Arrow began to fade away. “What’s happening?” Batman growled. “You’re being thrown back to your mind. Get Raven. Tell her…” Arrow would vanish and Batman looked at the doorway Desire created. “Only one option…” He jumped up as the bolas melted off of him like slag and then he entered into Desire’s realm. Purple and pink floors the sound of a beating heart. The hallways were elusive, elaborate and confusing but, there was no choice but to follow the pathway, hoping to find Dinah…In the real world Batman was crippled and useless. Almost 24 hours ago Batman fought Bane and lost, leaving Bruce Wayne’s only real asset, his mind damaged with saving Black Canary as his last service to the world before accepting death. If he turned back now, he didn’t know what his fate would await for him.
In the Medical Bay, Alfred watched as Dinah and Bruce stopped breathing. “Mister Arrow!” Alfred shoved Oliver causing him to wake up. “Wha?!” “We need to get them on life support systems!” Oliver looked around and quickly began assembling the rooms equipment to do such.
Green Lantern: Hal nodded as his hand lowered from Diana's shoulder, "We're on our way." and then he turned on his heel after giving Di a glance and started for the door. That was when he heard the message and stopped mid-step, turning immediately around a second later to look at the screen as the story played out. "Someone actually caught him?" he questioned, raising a brow as disbelief sweapt over him. He and the Bat never got along. Although their relationship could be far worse than what it was, Hal had to admit that Batman, if he had anything, had a stupid amount of luck in his opinion. That it finally managed to run out, now of all times, shocked him. *Christ... what happened while I was gone?^ "Someone needs to get to Gotham and find out for sure and not let the in house nature of them keep us from the truth. We don't need to pry, but we need to know facts."
Wonder Woman: Diana's mouth drew into a thin line as sher listened to the reports on Batman's condition, her eyes not impassive so much as they had developed a cold, shut down edge to them. Losing soldiers was never easy, her mother would tell her as much. Artemis and Philipus would agree, but these weren't just soldiers; they were her friends. Dinah was in a coma, Batman was possibly dead? Hal could disappear and never come home, and no one would ever know what happened to him. This was all getting... heavy. "Someone should check on Batman, the other two should go investigate the building," she said, speaking with a commander's tone. "I'm no detective, so I volunteer to accompany someone to the building; if anyone from the government shows up I might be best suited to control the situation," she said with a dire expression. It was then Hal volunteered them as a team to go to the source point for the signal, nodding to Superman that that meant he was going to Gotham. Not that she knew, but it wouldWonder Woman: certainly make more sense; he could use his alter ego to blend in with the huge throng of reporters gathering around, all searching for leads. -e-
Superman nodded. “I’ll check in on Batman and if possible make my way to the Submarine before it’s too late. Keep your comlinks open. We need all available hands ready incase another surprise hits us.” Superman would make his way to the transporter. Meanwhile in DC, politicians and generals were confused as to what happened, completely unaware of what malfunction occurred. The building the radio signal came from was an A.R.G.U.S facility with multiple soldiers posted around it.
Villainess: Batman would find the maze of hallways to be quite the challenge, they made no true sense, they were eloborate and turned in on themselves in places. The sound of the heart beat could be heard, it got louder in certain directions. He would then find it opening up into large room that was broken into chambers, the walls and floors sloping together, a marbled world of pinks, purples, blacks, and whites. The place was like a museum, or better yet a shrine. There were televisons playing images of the beautiful figure he had seen before. Statues and pictures of Desire every where. And then he saw her; lounging on dias, in a pose reserved for models on photo shoots, was Dinah lance, a living artwork. It was unclear if she was naked or wearing body suit. her body was covered form finger tip to toe in reds and purples and shades of pink. even across her face. Only her hair remained a dazzling blonde. "Beautiful isn't she?" purred desire's voice. (c)
Villainess: The endless was behind him, invading Batman's space. "Did you really come across Dream's domain to rescue her for the league? for her own wishes? or for yourself? You are nearly dead, I have expect my sister to come and guide you away. Is she worth all this trouble?" grinned the pretty face. (d)
Stiffening his chin was bold and coral eyes searched the halls. The heart …thump …thump …thump… He began to follow it… ‘...thump …thump …thump …Vicki …Pamela …Vesper …Selina …Talia… Mother… Father …Dick …Tim …Stephanie …Barbara …Jason ...thump …thump …thump… What is it that you truly want, Batman? Love? Justice? That ever elusive question…What would bring Batman happiness? …Diana? …Clark? …Joker? …Bane?’ He heard Desire’s voice and clutched his fists and swung attempting to strike Desire across the face. The images on the walls changed from person to person. He saw a picture of Rachel felt his heart struck with pain. …thump …thump …thump… He gritted his teeth and pushed <c>
forward until he came to find Dinah. “Dinah…” The pain that crushed him was becoming too unbearable. ‘If I can reach her… I want her… need her…’ His reality began to twist and wind as the futility of resisting became meaningless. He dropped to his hands and knees to begin crawling to Dinah, reaching his hand out to touch her. “Dinah, I need you…” the black of Batman’s armor began to twist into a marble shade of purple and pink, within the heart of desire not even the Dark Knight could resist the full power of the cosmic power, the endless feeling of desire.
Green Lantern: "Let's go," he said softly, holding his Ring up. The end began to glow and a bright green field of energy surrounded both himself and Diana before they began to fly up into the air and phase through the tower, soon out in space and heading for their destination. They could have taken a teleporter, but Hal wanted at least some time alone with her and progressing forward while having the chance was something. "Diana... what happened while I was gone?" He walked up behind her, placing his left hand on the top of her arm and giving it a gentle squeeze. *I don't want to put her through remembering it if it hurts but... I'm not going to be able to learn anything if I don't ask about what I missed.*
Wonder Woman: "Your guess is as good as mine," she said with a slightly dismissive tone. "Canary," she used her code name, unaware of whether or not Hal knew Dinah's true Identity. "Hasn't woken since that shared nightmare; I'm worried about her. This news with Batman is as new to me as it is for you, but I doubt it bodes well for anyone." She thought of the many children whom Batman worked with, knowing that at least one of them would be considered his "child" by probability alone. Moving with Hal the pair headed towards the building. As they came up to it, Diana's intial fear of running into ARGUS was not necessarily put at ease so much as it was confirmed; not only was she now sure that something was wrong, she was certain it was about to get worse before it got better. "This isn't good," she said, looking down on the nondescript, government issue square building. This was an ARGUS Facility. "I've been here..." Oh Gaia, Steve, please don't be involved... she thought to herself.
Soldiers would arrive to meet Green Lantern and Wonder Woman. “Wonder Woman, Green Lantern. How can we help you? Good work taking out those missiles. We heard about it on the radio.” There were three soldiers standing before them the pathway leading to the building was open, but security was pretty much on high alert. “If you want admission I will have to talk to the C.O”
Black Canary: The blonde seemed rather oblvious as Batman came closer to her, smiling vacantly as she felt such feelings about her, if she was a cat she would purr. Then he was crawling toward her reaching out to touch her. She got up in a fluid movement, slinking over to Batman at her feet. She could feel him wanting her here. It felt good to be wanted back, she smiled, seeing the colors on him. She bent down to see him better, a big grin on her face "welcome Bruce. Welcome to Desire. I'm glad you came... you need me? truely?" she asked. She reached out to touch him and took his hand. She could for a moment feel his desires, pulling him in so many ways, weighing him down. She felt that before, when she was asked to stay in her dreams. She then was able to feel and express those desires in those dreams and here... here she only wanted to be with Desire and with Batman... but that touch... it made her heart ache... she could feel him being torn apart, only to be guided to her. (c)
Black Canary: It was hard to think here, but pieces were falling into place. She looked up at Desire. "You... you're doing this to him... He denies you so much... and you tempt him so much... I was bait..." (d)
Villainess: Desire lounged on an over stuffed sofa, enjoying the show. "You are so much more than bait. you are a living tribute to me, like all these artworks here. And he is my biggest prize. He is what you want. Just take him, make him your own. I will give you that power that hold over him. He will always be yours. I will let you both go back before your mortal bodies can't take the strain of being here, and let you two keep each other." grins Desire. "I know it is what you want. My gift to you." Dinah would feel the flames of desire hit her hard, although Bruce would just feel the constant pulling toward her. "You both just have to say yes... say yes." Desire coos. (d)
Batman felt her grasp and pulled himself closer to her. Her touch left him with but a taste of her mind…to feel her beauty, to experience her entertainment. It left him wanting more of her and so his other hand reached out to hold her hip. “Dinah…I want to be with you…Forever. I’ve never felt desire like this. For no one else.” To him, she was Rachel’s fiery personality, her sense of justice. She was exotic like Talia and Selina, a moral conscience to remind him of who he was. She was Clark who was there when he needed him. She was Diana’s inspirational influence when he needed it. She was exactly the kind of person Thomas and Martha Wayne would want him to be happy with. His mind defied Desire until the last second of saying to Desire. “I do. I want to stay with you, Desire.” Batman spoke faithfully to Dinah, as though swearing a pact with her, but her name wasn’t Dinah; it was Desire.
Green Lantern: "Dinah will be okay," he stated to her, giving her arm one more squeeze as they reached the atmosphere, "and so with the Bat's family. Let's get this done, be thorough once so we don't have to come back... hopefully, and then we'll get back and see what they've got waiting for us." When they reached the location, Hal quickly lowered them down to the ground, disappating the energy field and falling into step with the Amazon as the two of them walked forward to the gate. "It's not?" he asked as she started to speak, turning his attention to the woman again as the guards walked up to greet them, "You've been h- OH hello!" Hal quickly said, looking forward and offering a smirk towards the troops, hoping to deflect any questions that they might have. "Thanks for the compliment but we kind of cheat compared to you guys. And, you know, talking to the commander would help us out a lot. I can tell by the gear that we're butting so if we can jump right to the head, get a few things
Green Lantern: un-clustered, and then we can get of your hair."
Wonder Woman: She looked to Hal as he comforted her. "I know, but it doesn't stop me from worrying," she looked at him, almost sheepish, not quite embarassed by the level of compassion she felt for everyone so much as... burdened by it. "Is Colonel Trevor on this base?" she asked one of the guards sent to meet them, hoping that she could use this one trick and make it count. She would have to explain her relationship to Steve to Hal later, but so far they have had a don't as, don't tell policy regarding exes. She had heard rumours that he had been a ladies' man before hand, but he had turned a new leaf, so to speak, and she was willing to over look the past; hopefully he'd extend the same olive branch.
Black Canary: Dinah felt the desire burning within her, the beautiful pale creature's words seemed true, something inside her told her that if she said 'yes' she would always have bruce wayne to herself. She shivered as Batman held her so close, so passionatly. Hearing his words, "I want to be with you forever..." Oh that is what she wanted... taht is what had kept her in those dreams... she could never have him fully, for what reason she had trouble remembering. She smiled looking into his eyes as he gave a response. He wanted to stay with... Desire! It was enough to shake Dinah out of overwhelming feelings she was experience. She shook her head, no it's me... Dinah... she looked into his eyes and she didn't see it. She saw passion in Bruce's eyes, but... but it wasn't for her. She slapped Bruce hard across the cheek and pushed him away. She turns to Desire, scowling. "No! I can't have him this way. If he chooses me, he chooses me, but I want it because of who I am, on my own. (c)
Black Canary: I know you are everyone's desire. And eveyrone's Desire is yours! But... I can't keep hiding. I'm Dinah Laurel Lance! I'm Black Canary! And I can soar with a team and I can soar alone!" (d)
Her body smashed into the ground as her eyes surged with a red glow from the anguish he had placed on her. The endless’ gaze of amber stars glossy within his opals faded and he removed his helmet to put it away. Dream placed his hand against Raven’s head to send her back to the world of awareness and then turned his attention to Batman, Dinah, Desire, and Destruction only to find…They had gone, all except Destruction. The World around them materialized into space, it was a child’s dream, but it served the purpose Dream needed as he looked to Destruction. “Where did Desire runaway to?” It was then he noticed something else. “My dreams are feeding into another realm…Desire’s realm. Did Dinah go there?”
Villainess: That sexy charming smile faded from Desire's lips. "I know you want him Dinah. I..." Desire stopped looking at the blonde, but almost as if looking through her... "Yourself... No. You can't just change what you want! You can't just pick yourself... You think you are getting clever don't you?" Desire started to walk towards Dinah, the colors in the chamber seemed to get darker, the reds brighter. "You are in the heart of Desire! My inner most sanctum! All of my power resides here!" Desire passes Batman, not paying him any mind. He is my greatest prize! Do you know how long he eluded me? How he clung to his pride and convinctions? Breaking apart his own desire?! I am this close! and I will not let you stand in my way! You are mine!" said desire closing in on dinah, seeming larger, more beautiful, more handsome, more perfect. Watching the blonde freeze and try to turn away, her eyes keeping coming back to Endless. (d)
Batman felt the smack and toppled onto his side, placing his hand against the floor to support himself from falling over. He clutched his teeth; his heart was aching painfully so as he mustered the strength to defy Desire to the best he could. “Don’t look at them, Dinah!” Batman took Dinah’s hand and attempted to pull her with him, as he ran back the way he came, racing towards the pathway he came from…or at least he thought it was the way…the maze of desire could easily have fooled him, as the pathways were winding and misleading, a maze of veins expanding across the universe and within a realm of desire. “Keep your thoughts focused on logic and reasoning. We need to get out of here, somehow…”
Black Canary: Dinah couldn't help but look at desire, trembling, feeling used, feeling empty, feeling fulfilled, feeling like she needed to stay. Then she was yanked hard by a hand that was suddenly holding hers, pulling her away. They were running, she could feel it, as her senses returned. It was Bruce. And he called her name. She felt his hand in hers. Bruce. She felt the desire welling up in her to be with him. she shook her head, trying to clear her head, logic. "Yes, we do... But..." she looks around the cooridor they were in seemed familiar and different. "But which way are we going? none of these paths seem to really go anywhere, they just keep going... I wish, we could just wake up..." (d)
Destruction of the Endless: "Hmm...quite interesting this affair of dreams." - Destruction was quiet up to that point, merely a spectator of his sibling's affairs. Observing how his brother acted against the poor woman and how his brother/sister tried to lure that other poor woman back into his/her grasp. - "You know, as much as I do that our sister~brother is a smily being, you can't predict it's plan untill it's too late. The human must've given into her own temptation, that's the easy explanation, now what we need to know is what actually happened to her and to Desire." - Destruction stepped forward looking around and turned to look into his brother's empty voids that he called eyes and to the bright star inside it. "Where are we, Dream?" He asked, curious.
“We’re in Alvin’s dream.” Morpheus responded, explaining their current “location” within the dream realm. Who was Alvin? A 12 year old boy with dreams of being an astronaut. “I can sense Batman and Dinah…They are through here….” Dream held his hand forward to create a diamond prismatic door that he opened and stepped through. “Come brother...I do not want to leave you unattended in my realm. It is vast and you could get lost.” They would enter a blue and purple hall with elaborate decorations and paintings. Without much effort Dream approached a painting of a heart, which began to grow and expand into a portal, a gateway into Desire’s realm. Dream could feel his power draining as the fabric of his power was leeched and sent to empower Dinah. <c>
The portal would allow Dream to appear in front of Batman and Dinah, where he calmly approached them and held an open palm towards them. “Your friend has been defeated and sent back to the awakening world. You two will come with me and I will fix this mess. Refuse and I will destroy both of you.”
Raven: As her body was smashed into the ground, her purple eyes shut tightly, trying to release the stress of pain themselves. However, her body slightly twitched and just like that – it was gone. Purple eyes slowly shifted themselves open as they look around in all directions. She blinked once to confirm, then twice, and the final time. Her thoughts were racing with everything that was registering. A small frown came onto her lips as she looked at Black Canary and Batman’s body in front of her. Her eyes slowly lowered themselves to their usual unemotional state as she looked around herself, then back at Batman’s almost lifeless body. A part of her was still shaken up as the visions from her father and her mother’s cries were there; how the Earth was slowly burning into a small crisp. Yet, there was another part that was screaming out to her. That part of her was screaming,“Raven, don’t play into his game! Stand up and fight! Do what you must, but fight! You have one objective and one -c-
Raven: mission and it is to fight and save Black Canary.” As Raven kept staring at Batman asleep, he turned her gaze over to the woman she had to save. “…” Not being able to reach over since her hands were occupied, her thumb started to rub Black Canary’s hand gently. “…Fear or friends. It’s ironic how life works.” She stopped talking, staring at them. As much as she wanted to just jump inside, she had a nagging feeling. This was it – one decision that could either make this or break it. Deciding not to, she stopped thinking and looked around once again, concentrating on the people moving around her instead of the dream and whoever that powerful being was. Besides, that powerful figure probably found Batman and Black Canary already. She would most likely end up elsewhere not not where she would like to be; she would stay and wait. At least Batman was in the dream. He was probably Black Canary's only hope now. -d-
Destruction of the Endless: - Olethros was fond of his siblings, every single one of them, perhaps not as fond of Destiny, but he still respected the oldest Endless. His last meeting with Dream was a troublesome one and now, willingly meeting him was a bold move on his part, being the prodigal son that he was, but he had to be around, for his familie's sake. Following his brother through the gallery he stayed quiet about Dream's statement of him being lost, he was an Endless, he could come and go as he pleased, but at least he respected his brother and his realm enough to just smile and nod. He noticed the sigil of his siblings and the empty painting that was his sigil's place of honor. A sad smile painted his lips as he suddenly stopped when Dream opened the door to the Threshold, his siblings's realm. Standing next to Dream he would look upon the poor humans as Dream made that charming proposition. "He won't actually destroy you, just send you to a world of eternal nightmare and make you wish you were dead." >
Destruction of the Endless: - Destruction said with a faint smile paiting his lips, the long period of absence made him a little rough around the edges, for the longest time his only company was a dog, so after he said that, he asked silently that they'd forgive him. - e -
Villainess: Desire gave a cruel snee with their lip, which faded in to smile as Desire watched the two run away. "What do I care? They are in my realm. There is no getting away from me here." Desire watched them run down halways, feeling them run through the twisted labryinth. Desire looked hard at the pathways before them, and the halls shifted and turned, making a striaght line to Bruce and Dinah. Desire cooly and slowly followed behind them, on step equal to 20 of their running footfalls and then desire felt it, felt them. Desire's brothers just entered into their realm without asking. Desire stood behind bruce and dinah who had Destruction and Dream in front of them. Desire put on a smile. "You are in my realm, they chose to be here, you have no right to threaten them. They are mine!" a hint of still in desire's smooth voice. (d)
Batman stopped and held his arm in front of Dinah as though prepared to take a gunshot for her. His eyes narrowed and squinted at Dream’s threat and then his eyes shifted to Destruction’s off comment about it. He narrowed his gaze unsure for a moment, the question was the lesser of two evils. “There’s no other option, Dinah. This started in your dreams, it might end there as well…I’ll go with you.”
Meanwhile on the Watchtower….Raven would see Alfred and Green Arrow in the room. Both Bruce and Dinah hooked up to Life support systems as both their bodies began shutting down with the lack of brain activity. Alfred seemed worried as he took Raven’s hand. “Oh my…Please! Tell me how did it go? I fear the worst for Master Bruce and Ms. Lance.” Green Arrow’s intimidating gaze settled on Raven, his hood raised over his head as he didn’t say anything. The Watchtower infirmary was quiet aside from the machines chanting and hissing with their lung pressure systems and beeping monitors of vital signs. The Watchtower’s teleporter would echo as the teleporter brought onboard…no one. Footsteps of invisible nature echoed ever silently.
Batson: :: “So all I have to do is...Whoa...Er...Whoa!” Quite suddenly, while he was talking to someone none the less, one Captain Marvel, through one means or another was teleported from point A to point B, B being the watchtower, currently home to the Justice League who he had been meaning to get into contact with but, hero duties were hero duties, so he didnt necessarily have the time to do so on the spot, but now, when he asked someone before about it and was lead elsewhere? Well, here he was. The reason for invisible footsteps were clear, as the good Captain was floating off from the ground, something he did both out of habit and in case he needed to go fast. Here though? The minute he was in the teleporting section he didnt know what to do, so he floated back into a wall, grunted then floated forward into another wall. “Ok ok ok...Ok!” He said to himself, hands stretching out to his sides as he stood still, looking side to side, frowning-
Batson: eyes narrowed before he sighed. “Er...Was someone supposed to be here?” If there was, Marvel sadly didnt see them and like the big dopy manchild he was he'd look in the wrong directions before floating about, trying to find something. “Ah ha...Hey...Hey, does this have voice?” He spoke to a security camera, having floated to eye level with it, gently poking its glass eye. “...This is my first trip here and er, I could use a bit of help if whoever can possibly hear me could oblige!” Spoken with a blissfully unaware little smile, almost childlike to an extent.::
