Audition post
"Rorschach Journal, Date and time, Unknown. The city smells the same, rank and filled with broken hope and lost dreams. Crime litters the street like broken trash bags, a true breeding ground for the corrupt. Something is wrong, this is not my New York. Dr. Manhattan's trajectory is never off, something happened here, something cosmic, possibly to others. Must investigate further." His hand moved the pen from the paper, closing the small spiral notepad with the other, Rorschach folded the book closed placing it and the pen into his coat before slipping into the shadows of a dark alley. His target was the nearest dumpster, people's refuse piles were often great sources of information. He dug savagely through the garbage, no regard for sticky fluids, or undesirable smells, the world was undesirable, it smelled worse than any one man could. Finally he found a discarded copy of the New York Times among the trash, checking the date, he noted the time stamp, Jun, 22, 2014. He studied the articles, a new president, a war in Iraq, and technological advances that seemed like something out of a Sci-fi movie. After reading through it thoroughly, he discarded the newspaper and removed himself from the trash bin. He placed his gloved hands into his pockets and moved forward. The large clock in Times Square advised that the time was 25 minutes after Midnight, the same time and day he and the other Watchmen were being teleported by John.
A pane of glass shattered and the lithe form of the vigilante forced it's way through the broken window of a large library. He did not waste time or effort in searching for books and instead found the signs that lead to the microfiche location. He reached for the years marked 1975, the last year he remembered being in his New York. Tricky Dick had resigned a year earlier, the cold war had ended. The longer he read, the more and more information filled his brain that only lead to one logical conclusion. Alternate reality, somehow he had been removed from his world and placed in this new universe, in the future. He had not time to waste. Without replacing the microfiche, he made his exit and looked for a place to get a change of clothes, Rorschach wasn't known here, he didn't have the fear yet, he didn't know the city, not like before. He had to study, to learn, and for that, he'd need the invisible man, he'd need Walter Kovacs. "Rorschach Journal, Jun, 22, 2014, Other New York. I don't know how or why it happened, but I'm here, and with no sign of the blue man in sight, it seems I'm on my own. That's fine, I prefer it that way. Need to find out what else has changed, if the filth and scum still possess the power they did in my city and find the other Watchmen, just in case. Might be able to bust some heads, while I'm at it, who knows." He closed the small book once more and vanished into the night.
