Equipment: Shadowcrest (Supernatural Mansion - Base of Ops), top hat, wand, and amazing fashion sense for the stage show.
Powers / Abilities
Mnemonic Incantation - Zatanna casts her spells by saying the words of her incantations backwards. She must concentrate on her magic to make sure she is using the correct spell. It is said that Mnemonic incantation is the most complicated of the mystic arts.
Omni-Lingual - Knows Many languages. Can Speak and read most, especially those of the supernatural vain of things.
Occultism - Has a very large and extensive knowledge of the occult and along with various types of magic. If she needs to find out more about something in such the area, Shadowcrest is the best place for such information. If need be? will call upon Jason Blood or John Constantine. (But that's desperate times and measures if have to call upon the latter.)
Telekinesis - Can block people out of her mind, along with probing into another's. But must be in physical contact in a circle or meditation to do so.
Telepathy - Can speak into other's minds when cannot with her voice in short ranges. Longer ranges, takes meditation and more controlled state to do so across long distances.
Time Manipulation - Chanting backwards, can stop time to the situation before her or around her. Depending on the size of area, takes more internal will and power to stop a larger area she's within than just a situation before her.
Elemental Creation and Manipulation - Shouting chant backwards, can change a state of matter and create it. Can even change the weather, but yet again, takes much more concentration and chanting to do so.
Physical Manipulation - Shouting a chant backwards, can Resize A person, or thing. Basic change easier than a bigger, more elaborate type of manipulation.
Illusion Casting - Chanting backwards, can have various types of illusions at her disposal. Larger and more elaborate the illusion, the more she must concentrate and continue to chant, depending.
Old ways of Magic - Using the old ways of her mother along with old green magic in her collection of books and having to use circles and alters. Charms along with potions if need be. Learned from John Constantine along with on her own travels in the magic side of the world. Black and white.
Levitation - Cause objects or people to float or fly. (Longer the time to stay afloat, more chanting and concentration needed)
Flora Creation and Manipulation - Can create and control Flora to Grow or come to her aid if need be by her backwards chanting. (The more in mass the Flora called? The longer the time it will take with her chanting)
Fauna Creation and Manipulation - Can mind control Fauna (various animals which range from ants to larger mammals), even humans. Can call to her suddenly by doing her backward chanting and words. (Though calling them to her side at times might take some time along with how much en mass she conjures up certain animals.)
Weaknesses
Silence | Mute - If hindered mute, cannot chant backwards, thus difficult to do many of her spells, even the basics.
Mortal - Though half homo-magi, she is very well human. So viruses, bacteria and those that can hurt a human, can very well hurt her.
Higher based and strength magic - If against someone whom is of higher strength? Her magic will null. Even if a stronger charm is in effect? Likely she cannot break it nor over power it with her own.
Character Time Line
Early Years
- Traveled the world in her early years (From a toddler to about the age of 10 or so) With her father, John Zatara. She was given support to hone and practice her natural talents inherited due to her Mother's homo-magi blood-line.
- Met Bruce Wayne in these years as her father came through Gotham on his tours and was good friends of Bruce's parents. Zatanna came to a few birthday parties to perform with her Father in which a type of friendship was gained.
- Given up and raised by strangers in her early teens, She was then cursed by Allura; an evil witch that prevented her from seeing her Father. When Zatanna became the legal age of an adult, she went on a endless search for her natural parents.
- Found her father's diary and created herself a stage persona to help travel om her quest to find him and her mother. Also due to this, she had a brief affair with John Constantine. With help from the JLA, She was able to lift the curse and reunite with her father. She would also reunite with her mother, Sindella.
- Though in the reuniting with her Mother, it was cut short as Sindella died while saving Zatanna from the City of the Hidden Ones. Then after, John Zatara died saving Zatanna and the spiritual dimensions from the Great Evil Beasts.
- During the search for her parents, she did join the JLA in helping them fight countless villains along with supernatural threats.
Later Years to Present Day
- After her father's death, She took upon a Hiatus in active adventuring and the JLA Roster; being more of an informant type resource when the JLA needed help when dealing with something of the supernatural realm.
- Also takes time to maintain the family home of Shadowcrest between her tours and also during her downtime. Has her own type town home within San Fran.
- Seven Soldiers (which she was suffering with lack of self confidence, thus gave up her magic for a time.)
- Dealing with Brother Night, helping San Fran PD with supernatural dealings. Through the events that followed, The aftermath of it all would bring Zatanna out of her funk to retake on her beloved magical talents once again.
- Presently, Zatanna has decided to go back on tour with her stage shows while being On call with the JLA if need her assistance on normal Hero-Villain dealings and especially of the Supernatural. She also tries her hand in helping her younger cousin, Zachary Zatara with his talents and show business (As much as her schedule and his stubborn jealousy toward her will allow) while dealing with keeping the balance of the Earth's Light and Dark Mystical Community periodically between tours and being apart of JLA missions.
Audition post
"You go on in ten minutes, Ms. Zatanna! They have the Platform ready and--" "Oooo~! Where the devil are you, ya little welp!" The stage manager blinks as he had opened the door and noticed the star was on her hands and knees, under her vanity with her butt in the air. "Uhm, Ms. Zatanna?" "Huh!? OW!" She seseethess her head hits the underneath of said vanity and backs out in a knee type shuffle. "WHAT. . Oh. Ten minutes. Yes, yes." "Are you--" "ALL is fine. I'll Be right there in five. Two if not so!" She gets to her feet and dusts off her knees. The stage manager nods and closes the door.
"Why must you ALWAYS Do this RIGHT before curtain, huh!?" She shouts to air, and then she hears something. Skirting across the floor, upside down was her top-hat. "THERE you are!" She goes to grab for it but it zips off to the side. "OH no yo don't!" And she goes after it again and the hat moves fast and leaps up onto the vanity. "ENOUGH of this! Ezeerf!" And the Hat freezes its movement. Picking up the hat, there was also a large white Rabbit in its place, that really shouldn't fit in such a hat. "Before show jitters after all this time." Zatanna tuts before flipping the Hat upside down and moves her hand to grip the large animal by its scruff.
"After this? I'll make you a well deserved carrot cake, okay?" The Rabbit twitches its nose and she kisses his nose. "In ya go." and the hat got a tad big so the large rabbit would fit and then back to normal size. "Alright. Now. . ." She hears a frantic voice in which the woman rolls her eyes with a grin. "Tfel Egats Ot!" And she teleports from her dressing room to stage left. Looking over herself once more, she nods and walks to the center of the stage. As her blue eyes meet to the stage hand, Zatanna winks and sets her hat upon her head of ebony locks. "Its Showtime!"
And on cue, the curtain goes up after the announcer made the opening for the most amazing show. The roar of applause is heard to yet again, a full house.
