Hello everyone, this is a thread intended to help new people and also perhaps remind each other and ourselves why we are here.
Below are six short questions which you can answer and freely express what you want.
I'll go first hopping to break the ice.
Questions:
1. When did you join [DCU]? (since Year, months, weeks, days...hours?)
2. Why did you join [DCU]?
3. Why have you stayed with [DCU] for so long (if you have been here for a while)?
4. What do you expect from [DCU]? (especially if you are new)
5. One thing you like about [DCU]?
6. Two things you don't like about [DCU] - something that could be improved upon?
Questions:
1. When did you join [DCU]?
Founding member since January / March 2012
2. Why did you join [DCU]?
I created DCU because I got sick and tired of other Roleplay groups losing sight of what's important about roleplay, which is roleplay itself and giving others the ability and opportunity to cut lose their imagination and really do cool things that you can't do in other places.
3. Why have you stayed with [DCU] for so long (if you have been here for a while)?
I look at the players and I see the people who put effort into it and I don't want to let them down. I keep pushing forward because if I don't, all of the progress we have made thus far would have been for nothing. I'm not ready to let that go or let that die.
4. What do you expect from [DCU] (especially if you are new)?
I expect people to get along; talk and roleplay about things they love and enjoy. Sometimes I get caught up in disgruntled moods where I don't like the interaction or conversations but, then I take a step back and realize...It's not about me in this conversation it's about someone else and their opinion, their values, their thoughts, and what they want to share or express. It's wrong of me to censor that or shut it down especially when I'm not even involved in the conversation.
5. One thing you like about [DCU]?
I like a lot of things about [DCU] but, I would say the hope is what I like most. [DCU] creates hope for me that in the world of Roleplay, it's not just about sex, drugs, cyber bullies, emo kids...It creates hope that there are people that live normal lives and just want to kick back and relax with friends who share the same interests in roleplay and not become malevolent, vicious, jealous, hateful, or obsessive over each other.
6. Two things you don't like about [DCU] - something that could be improved upon?
1. Reliance on me, I feel like a lot of RP hinges on my participation; that everyone is looking for me to make the first move when everything I've tried to do is show people "There's a different way" to do something such as lead an RP group. So, I wish more people would carry their own torch instead of only following behind mine.
I appreciate the support and would rather that than nothing at all...but I see so much potential sitting and collecting dust.
2. Lack of Participation...Real life can be a bear and can really get in the way of a recreation, writing, socializing with friends, and gaming. But all things in moderation, right? I don't expect people to refuse a funeral or turn down a job interview just to hang out at DCU, that's ridiculous. But when you have an opportunity of spare time: You went out with friends last week and are planning this week as well...
Why not split some of that free time with your friends here? I've said it many times that the people you meet here in DCU, if you treat them right...Will be life long friends. I have no doubt about it.
Mine is pretty deep, but you don't have to go as deep as I did. I look forward to seeing other's answers...Even if one is "Bruce is a dick."
