(Part One: The Black Flood)
The explosion erupted across space a shockwave that stretched across the infinite black and sugar crystals of space. A large maw of thick blue dust, embers of ruby and amber flaring within the epicenter of the explosion as a band of white rippled out across space with a cascading effect like an ocean tide that would shatter all matter that came into contact with its mighty reef. Beyond the stars of Earth, past the gas giants like Saturn and Jupiter, and the moon Titan, far past Mercury and Pluto the shockwave is seen shattering surrounding planets as the blue dust and smoke dissipates and in the center flames of cosmic proportions spread in the shape of a large ring to reveal an apple shaped opening spanning the side of the sun tenfold, blacker than the charred remains of a tree and its ash. The maw opened with a wind fury of energy that began to tug Earth’s sun and its neighboring planets towards its large maw.
An arc lightning tendril shot out from the fading blue dust that somehow had not yet faded into nothingness, but remained to keep the cosmic storms shape in proper focus and balance. The tendril wrapped around the sun creating a yellow and white ribbon of light stretching across the system and across Earth’s Eastern sky. The light of the tendril created an enormous amount of brightness and heat that a cool winter’s day would seem to instantly turn to summer. The large beam across space began to leech the sun’s nuclear core draining it of all radiation and energy; so much that the sun’s outward illumination would vanish pitching the entire system into darkness with but a single white and yellow glow across the obsidian sky emitting the same radiation the sun would on a normal day. There were no stars to be seen as blue cosmic dust began to surround every planet within the system.
The dust would begin to settle upon Earth’s skies creating thick dark violet clouds meshed with deep ocean blue shades. From this darkness a dark rain began to fall with rolls of thunder and flashes of lightning. Within the clouds a large shadow is seen moving like a shark beneath water, its outline defined by the shadow blackness contrast to the purple and blue clouds. The bellowing growl of a tyrant cloaked in the shadows rumbles across the city below. From the clouds above black smoke would descend upon the cities across the world creating squadrons of Geists and Ascendants.
(Gotham City) The streets would be flooded with monsters of black and dark, shadow and smoke. These creatures climbed along the walls, slipped under the vehicles, and crawled across street lamps. His ravenous claws held out towards any life form they encountered and began to sear them with dark purple and blue fire that would turn the person’s body into flames and ash. Others they would maim before burning the, screams of police officers in the streets, fighting a war zone as flashing police lights fought hard to penetrate the thick and black smoke filling the streets. “I can’t see anything!” were their shouts as squads huddled together to fight back shadowy figures.
(Star City) Similar events would be taking place, as dark armored shadows would dash through the streets with black steel weapons serrate cars and brick forcing them to crumble and scream in destruction. Police flood lights were beacons within the dark smoke; LED lights were also capable of cutting through the thickness of the smog. “This is police dispatch we need ALL units and reserve units on the scene!” Guns would bounce and spark against the armor of the ascendant warriors while bullets would phase through the geists with no sign of damage or fatigue.
(Metropolis) The city was being submerged in darkness; once a beautiful city of glimmering light not painted in the grim appearance of Gotham. The powerful reflective solar panels and glass windows upon the advanced buildings within the City of Tomorrow were standing as support columns keeping the darkness at bay but only by a few feet Upon the Daily planet a squadron of Geists crawled their way into the top floor to begin attacking people ravenously. Purple flames would begin to eat away at the walls of the building’s stairwell leading up to the roof. Six geists were in the squad; their fiery eyes glowed with amethyst like flare before leaping onto a news reporter after another.
(Bludhaven) Darkness was everywhere and within the sister borough of Gotham, Bludhaven. The local Special Forces were dispatching to attempt and fight back at the shadowy creatures but, like every other law enforcer, there was no resistance that worked. A unique scenario would be seen in Bludhaven, as the gangsters present were attempting to fight back as well along with the police and SWAT as gunfire ran out through the streets.
Black Canary: It had taken her a month to get this far, using contacts she had met in her travels to seem like a credible arms dealer. Had gotten in on deals and proven herself to be a shrewd business woman who wanted in on the new technology which seemed to be giving people superpowers. And then the sky blackened and shadowy creatures were filling the streets. The undercover cops for this bust were outed, as even the gangsters joined them on the streets, fighting together instead of against each other. But they were losing. The creatures seemed unaffected by bullets or were at least hard to hit. "Get behind me! All of you! And cover your ears. Thugs and officers looked confused but did as she said. She slid off her pinstriped jacket to show off her bustier as she widened her stance. It was a desperate move, but they were cornerd. She took a deep breath before letting loose a powerful shriek of sonic sound, sliding cars shattering glass and rippling through the creatures like tissue paper.
No one had any doubt as to who she was. Who blew her cover to save them. It was that woman from the rumors which went as far as Gotham and Star City. She was the Black Canary!
Oliver Queen: Had already been out and about, looking in on a low key smuggling ring. Something that had been real subtle alright. Just about as subtle as the Arrow being out in broad day light in the combat leathers that he wore. Just as he had been about go in through the roof top and have Felicity hack into the mainframe. That had been the plan. Then it happened. The Sun began to dim, the dark began to roll in with no warning. Given that it had been the late afternoon, it shouldn’t have even been looking at like that for another three hours. And then the normally light azure sky lowered into something. Then he saw the swirling masses above, the differing shades of blue and purple that rolled around, and then all hell broke loose. Things raining down from the sky, thunderbolts streaking across said object. If it weren’t the dark days that the bible said, it sure as hell was a close second. Hearing the fabled Canary Cry that he had heard at the warehouse before, his eyes narrowed.
“What in hellfire?” He murmured, before he took off, sprinting down the roof top, and jumping the clear distance over to the next one, rolling to his feet to keep the momentum built, and there he watched as the police officers, fell back against… Whatever those things were. Seeing their approach stalled, he looked towards his surroundings, and saw what he needed. Pulling two High explosive arrows from his quiver, he notched took aim and fired, shooting for just beside a semi rig carrying large round pipes made for sewage clean up, easy to move, and easier to get rid of. With the resulting explosion, the trailer attached to the rig flew up in the air, the securing lines snapping from the combination of the sudden movement and the explosive charge, spilling those pipes into the street and looking to flatten
anything within their path. “Pieces of demon bred festering ugliness.” He called out, hoping to gain their attention and lessen the strain on the police and their Canary.
Superman: (Metropolis.) Darkness, almost total and complete darkness. One moment Clark Kent was sitting as he computer working on he and Lois’ story ‘Scandal in the Mayor’s office.’ Lois had done most of the hard digging, if you were to ask her, and Clark was tasked with the lovely role of spell check. There he was meandering through the task of fixing the long list of spelling errors that existed, despite spell check being an option on all modern computers. Then everyone panicked, Perry was immediately out of his office, shouting orders. “We need this story now! Where’s Lane, Kent!” Then the window shattered and a secretary screamed. Clark Kent was gone, presumably running to safety, or the illusion of safety. Six of them, grabbing passerby’s at random intervals and ripping them limb from limb. They had time to grab one or two before Superman appeared. The first one he hit, hard, only to feel his hand fly through him before it turned and spewed a large ball of purple flame.
Clark felt the heat. This wasn’t natural, fire did nothing to him, he’d been into many a burning building and didn’t so much as lose an eyebrow and now, these creatures appear in an instant and he can do nothing against them. He was quick to respond, blowing a long line of frost breath to battle back the flames before he had to quickly turn, a corporeal version of the beasts launched itself at the man. Instinct took over, thought told him he couldn’t hurt them, but he swung, a large uppercut meant the knock the being through the roof, it connected, sending the geist high into the air. Still, the monster passed straight through the glass ceiling and melded with the nearest shadow. Surrounded, Superman had done his job, other than those two poor souls he couldn’t have saved, the beasts focus was now on him.
A blur, that’s what many described seeing whenever he let loose and ran as fast as possible, had there been light, the press room of the Daily Planet would have been nothing but a giant red and blue streak. He dodged magic fire and claws alike, eventually, the beings began trying to cut him off, and were succeeding before he flew straight into the air, at least his powers hadn’t failed him. He’d have to keep these things on the move if he wanted to keep the people safe.
Zatanna Zatara The magic community would of been restless for some days before, Zatanna not really paying attention to the signs of warnings. She had some odd dreams and woke up in a sweat but nothing to prepare her for what was coming to the very moment of her being before an Audience and in Gotham to a sold out show. "NOW...For my next Trick!" And the doors bust open with security for the concert hall entering and filing in to the point of the head coming on-stage. "Ladies and Gentleman! We ask you to PLEASE Stay in your seats!" The men re-close the doors and Zatanna looks about just as confused as her patrons. "What is the meaning of this!?" "..We regret to inform you that the show must be postponed for another date. BUT, We stress that you stay calm." Zatanna moves to the man and looked a bit annoyed at all of this. "WHAT is going--!"
"There is a threat that JUST Hit the streets and they are setting people on Fire and doing god knows WHAT. The Police are having one hell of a Time JUST to contain them!" There was a crash from outside and some yelling. Zatanna goes to whistle for her attractive stage hands. "LEAD these people DOWN to the basement of the hall. Quickly!" The people start to stand and file to the edges of the stage to use the backstage route to the safety of where she told them. "Quickly! Come along!" The Orchestra seating was easy enough, but the Balcony was more difficult. There is more commotion until There is a scream and glass shattering as one of the evil things had come busting in and started to set people flame. "THEY'VE MADE IT IN!" Chaos ensues the building and Zatanna has to jump back from People leaping and rushing for their Lives. "OH NO YOU DON'T! ITS ONLY ONE! MAKE SURE THAT NONE OTHERS HAVE FOLLOWED IT IN!"
Zatanna hisses and when the being tries to attack more, the Mistress of magic is quick to throw her hands towards the creature's attack. "Wons!" Instead of fire, the people are hit with cold snow instead. The being would turn its sights on Zatanna, making an angered screech and now has its sights on her. "That's right, You REALLY must not of liked that." She smirks and goes to Dash off the Side of the stage. "Ylf!" And she takes off the ground, over the people. She dodges, just BARELY missing more of that blue flame. "COME ON!" And she fly out the upper deck doors and the creature follows. Aiming her heeled foot at a window, the glass would crash on impact and outside into. . .A nightmare of a new hell mouth coming to pass. "Oh my stars. . " The screech would bring to back to the present and she turns to meet the creature. "Nghh. .! Htgis Ym Morf Hsinav!" The creature looks like it was about to end her and then as she stated? It vanished. Where? She wasn't sure.
There is a sigh and overlooks the chaos now happening over the whole city. "Ohh Man." There is a heavy sigh as she starts to float a bit slowly from the height she had been at. "Bruce must be having a shit fit if he. .waitaminute. That's it!" Zatanna goes to land on the roof of a building and roll her shoulders. Closing her eyes, she concentrates. Her hands glow a bit and she states aloud: "Enyaw Ecurb Ot Em Ekat!" And there was be that glistening glitter of magic she usually used for when she entered center stage but this was much more important. She had to focus and search out for them through the hell and other magical auras now abound the city and feelings of panic and fear. But she always knew how to search through the hell when focused; tonight was no exception.
It was amongst the chaos that was ensuing the Dark Knight thrived in his element of shadows and darkness. A large vehicle rolled through the darkness with IR, Sonar, Night vision, Black and White, Sonic, Inverted light, Thermal optic, and radiowave scanners went to work creating a simulated road map before him allowing Batman to maneuver between vehicles and people. He gripped the steering wheel of the Bat Mobile with a forced brooding expression upon his lips pronouncing his chin and a firm seal between both of his tiers. Those blue eyes rapidly moved left to right as his mind worked furiously to stay up-to-date with information coming at him. News broadcasts indicated the crisis was going on around the world. The storm was overbearing as the rain came down across the planet saturating everything in water.
It may have been less than ideal for anyone, but it was a natural element Batman was accustomed to working with. He tapped a few buttons on his control panel of the Bat Mobile and spoke. “Superman, I need you in Gotham, immediately. Wonder Woman, I need you in Gotham, immediately.” He tapped the a few more buttons. The sound of thudding against the Bat Mobile’s armor made Batman glance towards the ceiling as three Ascendants began thrashing their weapons against the armor causing black sparks to ignite from the vehicles hull. Two machine guns lifted out of the sides to begin firing at the creatures only for the bullets to bounce and reflect. Deciding against causing any threat to nearby civilians, the Dark Knight deactivated the guns and instead slammed on the brakes to send the creatures flying in front of the vehicle.
He squeezed the jump jet thruster and shot the Tumbler forward with a ferocious roar causing its massive tires to crush the shadowy creatures inside their armor. He glanced to his side and saw Zatanna appear before him in the passenger seat. “Now is not a good time for a chat.” “Can your magic do anything to these creatures?” Batman flipped a switch in the Bat Mobile that began emitting a beacon, a frequency that would annoy dogs and deer, but distinct enough to sound like a bat screeching to someone like Superman or Wonder Woman.
Black Canary: The familiar whine of an arrow followed by an explosion announced his presence. She couldn't believe he was here! In Bludhaven of all places! So close to her big deal! Was... Was he following her? She caught her breath as she watched the semi fly up a and its haul come crashing and dumping over the street, burying the creatures. The blonde hoped it hurt them or would at least slow these wraith like things down. She turned to a senor officer and the gangster she had been working with. "The two of us can distract these things and I think they can't handle my voice. If you could get your men to turn on as many lights from different angles I think that would help. See how they avoid the direct light and attack from the darkness? It could help us contain them or at least prevent surprise attacks." The men nodded and started to call to their men into action. She raised her voice as the creatures started to focus on the archer. "Did you miss me enough that you followed me here?"
She teased Ollie, a hand on her hip. Sounding amused, annoyed, and relieved at the same time. "I seem to remember you still owe me that dinner." A few creatures seemed to pour our of the shadows focusing on the two of them. "Reminds me of the time we were in that warehouse..." She hinted, reminding him of the two pronged attack they did on those powered kidnappers.
Oliver Queen: Watched as the pipes descended upon the impending crowd, and he just shook his head lightly to them. It pinned the ones in mail down but the ones with the horns weren’t slowed down. Had it not been for Canary’s screech, he figured that they’d have been overrun earlier. That showed that they couldn’t be targeted physically. And that damned cloud that hid their movements. He didn’t like it at all. Never the less he jumped down to the ground first landing upon a elevated freight box and then onto the concrete below. “From what I can tell, they seem to be sticking to this cloud of whatever it is. Radio in a helicopter and see if we can’t disperse the cloud jumpers.” He stated before he turned his head and he shrugged his shoulders in response, looking as the ones in the plated armor began to shove those pipes off of them. Slowly. That was when one pried himself loose and began to charge there. He walked forwards, calm as the rain that began to fall watching his movements from
beneath his hood. As it rose it’s sword hand up and began to drop for a vertical strike, he move quickly to the left, allowing the blade to crash into the ground, before he stepped over it, twirling in the same motion, carrying the thing clear from it’s grip. Using that same motion, he brought his hand around towards the handle, pulled it free from his grasp and struck, removing the things head from it’s shoulders in a swift movement. They were clearly stronger than he was. He knew that. Which meant that he had to be quicker. “Tell you what woman, you manage to survive, I’ll spring for burgers and fries.” He stated bringing the blade around. “I can see the resemblance…. But we weren’t fighting things from a M. Night Shamalan movie.”
Superman: Superman’s senses were focused on everything they could be focused on, his enhanced sight, hearing, smell, touch, all of it used in harmony to identify the creatures and the spread, it was world wide, there was not a single place he could hear that didn’t have reports of these monstrosities wreaking their havoc. With his attention taken away, a shadow creature leapt from the side of the nearest building, his claws digging into Superman’s skin and his strength bearing down. The Man of Steel turned, plummeting but directing his fall for an unoccupied part of the street, he waited, his hands keeping the creatures snapping jaws at bay before the geist summoned a shadow blade to his free hand, every intention of driving it through the Man of Steel, and from what he’d seen, he was capable of doing it. As the creature raised the blade and brought it down, Superman pulled a half barrel roll and collided with the concrete, crushing the beast beneath his weight and the force of his fall.
No time to worry about whether he’d actually killed the beast or it simply disappeared again, he had to keep moving, but where to go? There was darkness everywhere, the sun.... His mind worked furiously, cursing himself, the sun, it was being blocked, allowing this thick light to move in, it’s radiation still permeated the atmosphere, but it’s light was missing. While the thought ran through his mind, he barely heard the batlike screeching, but once he did he locked onto it. He couldn’t be everywhere at once, he pitied the people that he couldn’t save, each and every life lost was a blow to him, his pride, his sense of responsibility, but he didn’t have time to mourn them now, wallowing would only stack more lives on the pile. He took to the air and with a sonic boom in his wake sped toward Gotham city.
The Batmobile soon in sight, he saw a new type of enemy, corporeal, wielding a blade, he put all the frustration and anger he felt into his fist as he drove it into the creature’s chest and watched as it exploded into a shadowy power. “I got your message, what are we dealing with?” He shouted over the cancopy of screams and snarls. Superman targeted the ones that he knew he could touch, there was no restraint, no light to them, no life, these beings were bent on destruction and had to be stopped. He wondered if they had blocked the sun’s light to appear, or if their appearance had blocked it. If it were the latter then it was possible a simple UV Flashlight could come in handy, but, Batman was the one with the fifty thousand dollar computer.
Zatanna Zatara: "I can TURN their ATTACKS into SNOW. . But it just pissed the one off and I had to vanish the one from my Sight to save my skin. SOOOooo. Yeah. These THINGS? I HAVE an IDEA about the Flame Throw- - AHH!" She screamed as the Batmobile took a sharp turn and her back hits the back of the passenger seat. "OOF! Now I know what your Robins FEEL Like!" And then there was that MASS of Big Blue and seeing him take out one of the OTHER things that..were news to her. ". . Right! Right. So. Flamethrows? Either REALLY Pissed off will-o-wisps. . Orrr Geists. WHY they are here? Needs MORE Research for THAT! I DUNNO.." She holds on as the mobile does another shift and she gets a closer look at the odd-looking armored. . things. "Shadowcrest is needed for this. There was something amiss for the last few days in the magical community about something Big. ." She fades off a bit shook her head to bring her mind back to the present again.
".. I MIGHT be able to FREEZE the maybe Giests if need be. I dunno about these Knights of the Demon table, though." The sound of that roar from the thing caused chills and made her tense. "Whatever they are. . Its making my blood run cold in the magical sense."
Batman: He stopped the batmobile and looked up at the man through the ceiling of the vehicle before turning his gaze to the computers before him. “According to my scanners, these things are of some kind of other worldly dimension…Sound familiar?” Batman didn’t seem to bother introducing Zatanna and Superman; there was a crisis far more important than simple greetings. “Whatever dimension they’re attacking from, we need a way to shut them down and push them back…To do that I need access to the most powerful telescope on the planet, located in Metropolis City…Zatanna can get me there, but I need you to be on standby, I may need you…” -Batman spoke short, sharp, and to the point. “Ah, got it…Superman, changing the intensity of your heat vision, frost breath, or molecules within your arms can disrupt and disorient the shadowy geists.” [c]
“The armored ones seem to be as vulnerable, but analysis hasn’t returned on the black fog yet…One last thing, I’m activating a homing beacon sensitive to your hearing, it’s a satellite device I need you to take into orbit and attach to a Wayne Tech satellite.” Promptly Superman would hear the beacon echoing in North Gotham, inside a warehouse. “It’s a prototype, so be careful. After Zatanna transports us to Metropolis, take my car here to Metropolis, I may need it there.” Batman’s instructions were a bit complex and almost no explanation as to what exactly was the plan or how it was going to operate, but he carried himself with such confidence and assurance that it would seem he had no doubt of his plan. Batman waited enough time that if Superman needed to talk, he could. If not, Batman would nod to Zatanna about teleporting them.
Superman
Normally, Superman would find Bruce’s attitude and instructions annoying. They came with no data, for instance, did he need to wire the beacon to the satellite? What frequency should his abilities be set too. Still, he didn’t have time to nitpick and he was confident he could figure it out. “Fine, watch yourself in Metropolis, the event is global, there is no safe haven.” With that, he sped toward the sound of the beacon, firing different degrees of Heat vision to disrupt the attackers until he found the most effective one, using that he cleared a path, brief enough for him to fly in, grab the beacon and make the ascension to space. The satellite was easy enough to find, with no place to ‘plug it in’ He used his heat vision to bring weld the beacon to the satellite and then immediately headed back for Gotham to retrieve the Batmobile, he was tempted to start speaking to Bruce, before realizing he was the only one with hearing like his. “We need communicators.” -c-
As he turned toward Earth, he saw a mix of blue and purple light, but mostly black, they were everywhere, this information could prove useful. Adjusting his heat vision once more, he managed to clear a street. He wanted to save them, but there was no where safe, the only option for these people was to take out the main problem and then pick up the pieces. His hands gripped the Batmobile and he was on his way to Metropolis. -e-
Black Canary
The fishnetted blonde watched as the pipes cover the creatures. The shadowy ones seemed to melt into the shadows. While slowly the armored ones unburried themselves. She smirked as he copped out on burger and fries, teasing her back. She was going to hint again about how they paired his trick arrow with her Canary cry, but Ollie was already in the middle of a sword fight. It was so dark with unnaturally clouded sky, it was hard to see how many of these creatures were about. And then the officers and mobsters pulled through. Lights from all the nearby buildings, car's headlights, street lights, anything they could find turned on. It gave stark contrast and little refuge for the shadoy ones. And frightengly they were nearly ontop of Canary and her group! "Cover your ears!" She shouted waiting as the men about her hurriedly did so. Shrieking in small blasts striking and vaporizing some of the shadow creatures. But they were hiding the armored ones behind them. (C)
She did a kick and it was like hitting a brick wall! She was swattesd aside hitting wall hard knocking the air out of her. She saw Ollie chopping the head off an armored monster. She waved off a mobster who came to check on her. "Arrow is able to take down the metal ones. Focus on those. Use something bigger than bullets." She slowly got up, catching her breath as she came up with a new plan. (E)
Oliver Queen
Turned his head to look towards the others, tossing the sword to the gangsters, and then returned his gaze to the monsters still connected with the pipes and he just shook his head, wondering what the hell was it going to take to keep these guys on the ground? Looking to the pile and then to the quiver, he reached into the small quiver and pulled out a bulky looking arrow. Didn't seem as though he'd be able to get a whole lot of distance and range out of it. But that wasn't the point. No. He took aim and fired into the crowd of the giant mess of metal men, and fired. As soon as it landed it bounced off, a seemingly terrible shot, however a sort of hazy mist slowly began to appear, drifting down upon the crowd, before a great terrible firey explosion errupted, but this didn't seem like the regular arrows that he had used in the past. No. This was a great fireball.
"No one go near that!" he ordered as he back pedaled to get away from the flames, ensuring safety from the high heat and the hopes that those pricks were just melting into the street. Those were the hopes at least. There he looked towards Dinah. "Woman, didn't they teach you anything about fighting big heavy men in suits of armor?" Before he turned his head to regard the oncoming wave after wave, and then turned down the street as he reached down and helped her up, waving the others back with his bow as he attempted to think of a plan. This wasn't an isolated area. There were numbers all over the city. "Do you have any idea of stopping the mist?" He questioned, watching those things surround the fire for a moment, before screeching at them... great, he'd managed to piss them off.
Black Canary
Some of the gangsters started to take out the creatucreatures with the sword Ollie gave them, or pipes and crow bars, using the creatures' own swords to finish them off. Officers ran them over with squad cars. As they finished the stragglers Ollie shot a bad trick arrow, only to make a fireball of napalm like stuff which melted the pipes and monsters together! She saw O
She saw Ollie come over and took the archers hand to get up. She smirked at the green hooded man's joke. "I caught that class, knock them down then bash in their helmet. But these guys are like brick in there!" And then 3 more waves came down, both shadow and armor creatures. Canary grimaced. And sighed at Ollie. "Am officer told me the cloud is over the world. I know a guy who maybe looking into it. But lets finish these guys. Still have some explosive arrows? I can still combine those with a cry. Should affect both types." Yes, the blonde was ready to take on an army. (E)
Zatanna Zatara
"You know, a 'Please' would be nice once in awhile." She states after Bruce went on about the last moment plan about teleporting and taking him to Metropolis. Granted, she would of done it regardless due to the situation at hand. "I SURE hope that its SOMEWHAT clear near the building we have to get to. . " Closing her eyes, she lets out a breath as her hands start to glow while holding them somewhat in-front of her. "Epocselet Siloportem Eht Ot Tropelet!" Her eyes snap open and she reaches out to grab a hold of Batman's gloved hand. In a poof of shimmer, stars and magic, they dissipate from within the car and appear (luckily) within the confines where the telescope is housed. Once her heels meet solid ground again, Zatanna can't help but to crouch over a bit and into a kneel while still holding onto Bruce's hand. "I-I guess I know what I need to work on after all this is over with, huh?" She gives a reassuring smile that reaches her blue eyes and goes to slowly stand. -c-
"You sure this is gonna work? You know crossing the plains of Magic and Science DON'T always work favorably in situations like this. Especially with a large piece of machinery like. .that." -e-
Oliver Queen
Snorted and he shook his head. That news gave him little comfort, very little. That meant that while he was here, Star City was under attack just as much as this place. Well there was no way he was going to make it back there. Arsinel and the others were giong to have to work without him. "If this ain't the end days, it sure as hell close enough." He mumbled as he reached into his quiver and pulled out four arrows, notching each into his bow and pulled back. "How many you need?" He questioned to her, taking aim at the shadow creatures themselves.
Black Canary
She nodded sadly as she heard the Archer grunt. His expression telling her what he was worried about, Star City. She looked at him prepping his bow. "Enough to fill the street. Give me two minutes." And with that she climbed up a fire escape and was dashing and leaping across rooftops. Dodging wraiths on her way. Going down the street so she was on a diagonal across from the Green Arrow. She waved at him , the signal. Taking a deep breath. This was going to hurt. (E)
When they appeared inside STAR Labs, Batman moved immediately to the computer, his hand completely dismissive of her grip caused her to be tugged with him before realizing she was still holding his hand. He glanced at her hand and tried to part her away from him before stepping to the computer to begin adjusting the telescope to examine the stars. Batman wasn’t just sitting around as he waited for the computer to adjust; he began to immediately examine the logs over the past few months, watching the reading of the stars and their alignment. “I’m not mixing magic and science. No, I’m not sure if its going to work…but it’s at least a chance to observe and study our opponent and hopefully construct a defense before it’s too late.” [c]
The scans would reveal a dark blue nebula moving around the edge of the solar system over the past two years, but when he spotted the last 5 hours of the nebula it had expanded with a bright center blinding to the scopes camera lens and computer scanners. “Superman, I have an update…And a communicator to give you. There’s a nebula is that has formed on the outer reach of Earth’s solar system…I believe the black smoke we are being covered in is the residual effect of it exploding. But I think there’s more…I think the explosion is a gateway...I’ll continue researching to find out more. I may need volunteers.” Batman wasn’t sure if Superman would arrive to pick up the communicator but, if he did Batman would pull it out of his belt and offer a headset to Superman. [c]
“Go to Bludhaven and see if you can find Black Canary, I believe she should be there. Blonde woman, black uniform, most likely putting up a last stand against these things. Tell her I sent you to bring her here. We could use all the help we can get.”
Oliver Queen
Turned his head to regard her with a look that just shouted ‘What?’ he didn’t need to voice the question. He knew she understood it well enough. What the hell was the idea? Two minutes? Two minutes!? As she turned away he had to back pedal once more avoiding a vicious claw swipe that would have severed him in half. “We don’t have two minutes!” He half shouted at her retreating form, a clawed hand getting far to close for comfort. But as the thing over swung, he ducked under neath the swing before he jumped up into the air rolling over the monsters back, landing on his feet kicking the thing back in to the approaching crowd, before he pointed the arrows and fired on the signal. Watching as the arrows sailed true into the crowd and where he turned and ran in the opposite direction, away from the homicidal things trying to kill them.
Black Canary
The Archer was such a whiner. She had seen him fight. He could avoid getting gutted for two minutes. And then she saw it. He let loose the arrows! She judged the distance and let loose a powerful scream! Glass up and down the street shattered as the wave of sonic sound travelled. And it met the arrows which exploded from the impact and... And the sonic waves seemed to amplify the explosion! Building, armored creature, metal, wraith and glass seemed to crumble, burn, and shatter from the devastating blast! Nothing was stirring on the street afterwards. Canary only smirked as she felt her legs give out. Starting to fall. She overdid it... (E)
Superman
Superman was careless with the Batmobile, he didn’t have time to take precious care of Batman’s toys and he doubted Bruce would mind if he lost a few expensive looking gadgets off the side. He swooped into Star Labs, which seemed relatively unharmed by the attack. He retrieved the communicator and didn’t wait around for instructions or introductions, he’d be able to hear them anyway. Placing the communicator into his ear, he turned it on before speeding toward Bludhaven. His hearing focused in that direction, he heard the ear piercing screams and aimed himself for their location. Blasts of heat rays marked his location as he attempted to clear a path to the green hooded hero and the fishnet clad heroine. “Black Canary?” He spotted her and the Emerald archer as she began to fall, one hand reached out, snatching Canary in a way that was meant to avoid whiplash, he then moved to assist the archer. “Batman is looking for volunteers for a job to stop these things, will you stand with us?” -
He spoke quickly before attuning his frost breath and flying a whirling circle around Green Arrow, his frost breath distorting the shadow creatures that grew close. “No time to stay and chat, are you in or out?” He couldn’t save everyone, a hard lesson to learn, but he would give anyone he could save the chance, the man staying here, he was sure to die, Canary had apparently worn herself out, but Superman could understand the need to save what you could. -e-
Oliver Queen
had stopped when he heard the explosion and he turned his head to look towards the giant fire ball, and then he looked towards the Canary as she began to crumple. Not good. Not good. There he bolted from his position to try and catch her, only to hear a sonic boom in the distance, and someone collecting her from mid air. That was different. And then the rest of the shadow creatures were dealt with. There he turned his head to look towards the crowd and then to the man in the blue tights and the red cape as he spoke to him. Looking up to the sky and then to him again, he nodded his head. The planet was surrounded, Star City was under attack, and if this man… whoever he was… was here collecting Dinah, on orders from another, that meant a counter offensive. He knew this was war… he couldn’t do everything for them. There he shouldered the bow and approached. “Just so it’s known… I really don’t like this.” He stated as he stood close, allowing the man to do his thing.
Zatanna Zatara
". . .You doing that is almost like being a type of Oracle of the cards. But not as. . .never-mind." She shakes her head and crosses her arms over her chest. When the scans and the diagrams were showing over the last 5 hours or so? She narrows her eyes and moves over to look over the screens. ". . Its Dark." She calmly states and glances over to hear the loud noise of metal and shocks groaning before there was Big Blue himself there. She moved to open her mouth and he was gone again. "O. .K. Volunteers? Researching? Now I KNOW you are really making this up on the fly." She purses her lips and bites on the bottom one in slight nervousness. "Are you trying to tell me that this 'Nebula' just appeared out of no-where. .On the edge of our Galaxy then these Giests and star ship trooper knights came pouring out of no where all over the world. . .in a span of 5 hours?" She wanted to make sure that was what he was saying. -c-
"Cause If That's the case? 'That's no moon', Bruce! Rather. . maybe not a true nebula. Unless you know. . Someone had the power to MOVE it with some technology Or just. . Magic." Yes she was babbling, but it was really the only way to keep herself SOMEWHAT calm. She starts to pace, her heels echoing off the acoustics of the inner chamber of the observatory. -e-

Especially with a large piece of machinery like. .that." -e-

had stopped when he heard the explosion and he turned his head to look towards the giant fire ball, and then he looked towards the Canary as she began to crumple. Not good.

". . .You doing that is almost like being a type of Oracle of the cards. But not as. . .never-mind." She shakes her head and crosses her arms over her chest.
