Cassandra Sandsmark - Themyscira, the Island Paradise home of the mythic Amazon race, had become the home for the DemiGod Cassandra Sandsmark, in the last few months. She was well aware that she had missed the beginning of her Senior Year, much to the disappointment of her mother, but she still wasn't feeling like she could go back to school, or the Titans, yet. There was just still too much... Just too much. The island was healing her slowly but surely, after the death, resurrection and subsiquent romantic loss of Conner Kent, then the equally devestating loss of Billy romantically, both men, or boys really, deciding it was easier to simply start seeing someone new than to tell Cassie there was something wrong, she had taken refuge on the all female island. The Queen, Hippolyta, who technically was her somewhat sister-in-law, the consort of her half brother Ares, had welcomed Cassie in the way she would welcome her own children, open arms and heart. The Amazon Artemis had taken over Cassandra's physical
training, and indeed the young woman was turning into a very adept warrior, far surpassing where she had been a short six months ago. Diana wasn't around much, but when she was she helped Cassandra keep in touch with the outside world, bringing her books to read and newspapers so she could catch up with current events, and of course care packages from her mother, Helena. The blonde sighed, sitting on one of the rocky outcroppings which over looked the steep descent into the azure ocean, her eyes reflecting the same colour, and the same depths, as she wondered just what was next. Eventually she'd have to go back. And soon. If she missed more than a month she'd be held back, and wouldn't be allowed to graduate, and even while it would have nothing to do with her abilities, she had a feeling there would be some among the Titans who would take it as a reason she should no longer be the leader if she didn't return within a "reasonable" time frame. Another heavy sigh from the sometimes bubbly Amazon as she picked up a rock and skipped it across the water. -e-
Darkseid - Far away, across the cosmos in the deepest reaches of creation, beyond the care of high school and petty drama... Apokolips burned ever so brightly still. The throne room was decorated with crimson drapes, flared by the pooling torrents of lava that besieged the room and called embers to the darkness that otherwise loomed. Darkseid resided upon his throne, the stone chair only compared to that of Darksied's grey skin. His piercing red eyes glaring out at the court in attendance. "We have not found the daughter of Krypton yet, my lord." The words came from a hunched over being, his body cloaked and robbed in a hood while he clutched an old staff. His words came with some weary to his lord's wrath, but at the same time he cleared his throat to quickly follow up. "However at the same time we have found another suitable being to be the newest among your furies, she is young and still in training, but no doubt with your guidance, my lord... She could easily help ensnare the Earth and seek out for the equation for you." Thoughts pondered over in the god's head, this was bad news on one hand... But came with a silver lining to it. If this new target was to have the potential they said... Then perhaps his plans to crush the Earth's defenses for his plans of a galactic utopia wouldn't be as far away as first thought. Still submerged in silence, Darkseid allowed the man to continue as he once again spoke up to the god of Apokolips. "We have the furies ready to head out via boom tube." A notion that Darkseid finally spoke up to, her had visited only once before... The Green Lantern of the sector, he had shown that insolent fool true fear. Perhaps his appearance alone would be enough to make this girl submit if news traveled fast on Earth. "I shall go myself." Darkseid declared, rising up from his throne as immediately his hands came behind his back in an instinctive union. "My lord, she is located upon the island of Themyscira. The amazons call it home." The information on gave Darkseid a morbid grin across his features. "Excellent, then we have the potential for a whole next batch of furies and to turn some of the Earth's strongest warriors against it." There was no more need for discussion, Darkseid's mind was made up. His power was infinite, he could do this with ease. He felt his power each out into the cosmos as space decreed his bidding and in a celestial light Apokolips became Earth in a slow fade. The island was... Strange compared to what Darkseid had already seen of Earth, but he was not here to sight see. He was here with a task in mind and right now he could see a girl not that far away sitting by the water's edge. He could see his prize. -e-
Cassandra Sandsmark -Artemis had been working on Cassandra's "readiness," randomly attacking the girl morning, noon and night, regardless of what she was doing. Once the Amazon attacked while Cassie was sleeping, another time she shot an arrow at her from behind while she was reading with Philipus. The whole idea wasn't to be a bully, though it may seem that way from the outside, and Cassie may have complained to that effect, but rather to prepare the young Amazon to defend herself from an unprepared position, to always be ready, because you never quite knew when the next hit was goign to come, nor could you predict from where it would originate. With that said, there was nothing that would allow Cassie to anticipate what she was about to experience. Her nostrils flared nad she smelled something... off. A faint tinge of something burning, an odd chemical odor that was out of place on the Amazon home and more inline with what she would smell on the Watchtower when people were being transported. She turned first to the left and didn't see Artemis, but that didn't mean the redhead wasn't there; she was a tricky, talented one. Dressed in a plain, white training chiton, pinned at the shoulders with a simple pair of brass pins and tied at the waist with a small band of cloth, the Amazon known to the wider world as Wonder Girl was otherwise without weapons, only her wits and her own hands to defend herself. When she turned to the right she saw a dark, square figure and her eyes narrowed. She didn't recognize him, but there was something that made her step back, not the least of which was the fact he seemed to be male and somehow appeared on the island without notice, interruption or even revolt which meant no one else knew he was here. Really, even Ares drew attention and derision from some Amazons, and the only other men she knew to have visited were Colonel Trevor and Mister Jordan, both of whom had only stayed for short periods of time and both of whom were directly surpervised their entire visit. "Who are you?" the young Amazon demanded, taking to her feet, setting her shoulders square and eyeing him up. -e-
Darkseid - His hands tilled joined behind his back, the god of Apokolips stood stationary and still as he heard his target call out after stepping back. Good, she already knew fear. His visage was enough alone to instill fear into the hearts of the bravest of souls and Darkseid revealed in the fact they knew their place. He didn't step forward or answer immediately, she was making a demand of him. His stature already was towering over her... She looked so feeble, was she truly worthy of joining his furies? This would be her test. "I am your new lord and master, Miss Sandsmark. But you may call me, Darkseid." He finally informed her, his stoned lips cracked out in a perverse grin as his red eyes glared up with glowing vapors and flames.
Without warning, hesitation or remorse from his eyes ripped free his omega beams. If she was to be a replacement of Krypton's last daughter then she would have to prove herself to be worthy. The pulsating energy scorched through the air, rippling towards her in a direct line at an angle forged of their height difference. However, it would seem that due to the terrain of the rocky bay, that his beams would hit a well placed rock before her, it was then that their power was revealed as they twisted and curved around the inanimate and bore at a curved degree towards her. "Prove yourself worthy to die for Darkseid, mortal" He encouraged her. -e-
Cassandra Sandsmark - 'Darkseid' - now that name sounded familiar, and not in a good manner. Something from the past, she thought to herself, but not something she had done. Was it something that Diana had told her? The Lord and Master comment got her attention and drew her eyebrows together. Yeah, I don't think so, Cassie thought to herself. The Omega Beams came out and her eyes went wide. No more time to think, she thought, time to act. Her training kicked in and Cassie brought her arms up in front of her face, crossing her bracers and taking to the air. The surprise came when they twisted, around the inannimate object at her bare feet. "Uh, I don't know who you think you are," Cassie spoke with a bold tone, summoning up her best indignant Amazon voice, channelling the Queen where she could. "But you certainly know nothing about women, or me," she continued on. "As if I'm some mortal, you see me flying here? I'm a God, and you, just have totally bit off more than you can chew," she said, shooting up into the air quickly and arching before coming down towards him. Cassie had many things going for her, though she was still young, and impetuious, and streaking towards Darkseid may be a bit more of the later.-e-
Darkseid - Such insolence and reckless youth, Darkseid would straighten that out of her in no time once he had her within the grasps of his iron grip. She had neglected the beams that curved around the rock, seeming to be under the illusion they hit the object, as if Darkseid would be so foolish. No further words came from Darkseid as she shot out towards him, his grin merely kept up as his body moved not an inch from her declared attack. The before shot beams merely curved again, his eyes free as they curved behind her and rose up into the sky to follow her like a homing attack. From her shooting towards him, he'd unleash another furious attack from his optics as a second set of omega beams flared up and burned out from his eyes. One set coming from the front and another from the back, if she wasn't careful she'd be caught up in a clash of agony and dismay.
"Strange, I always thought that gods where supposed to be warriors of great might and power." He declared after the omega beams would have either done their job or what, depending on her reaction. Either way, it gained the same follow up from what Darkseid had already observed of her from their small interaction. "All I see is an untrained gain with squandered talent."
Cassandra Sandsmark - The first set of Omega beams did find their way home, hitting Cassandra square in her back. The only benefit was that it was pushed her out of the path of the second set. Pain electrified her, spreading from between her shoulders where the beams impacted. Naturally, there was an intital painful scream. Her body, momentarily limp, flew over Darkseid's head, scorpioned, her legs bent over her head, back curved severely from the impact of the beam. She was pushed into the ground, a puff of dust coming up as she landed, face first into the dirt. She groaned, her head spinning as she felt like she had been hit by a truck. The young Amazon pushed her hands into the dirt, "Alright, I'll give you that one," she said, pushing herself onto her knees, wiping the blood that was dripping from the corner of her mouth. "As for the warrior thing, I'm working on it," she said with a low growl in her voice. The comment about great mind and power hit a little close to home, as she was quite often reminded that she made some very bad decisions. -e-
