Training: Barry is a forensic scientist which means he knows a lot about Chemistry, and a little about Physics, Biology, as well as Quantum Physics. When it comes to combat training, he only knows street fighting because he doesn't need martial arts all that much due to his speed.



Equipment: The Flash has a cosmic treadmill that allows him to go through time. Also, the lightning bolts on the sides of his helmet serve as communications device.



Powers / Abilities

Super Speed - The most basic of The Flash's powers is the ability to run at superhuman speeds.The Flash can easily run at 700 mph, and with a bit more effort, at Mach 1. Barry can achieve Mach's 2-6 with heavy effort, but can reach up until Mach 10. Although running at high speeds can cause heavy damage to his body.



Dislocation of Molecules - By vibrating his body at certain speeds, Barry is able to dislodge some of his molecules allowing him to pass through walls and other materials.



Speed Body Control - Not only can Barry run at incredible speeds, he can also move every part of his body at ridiculous speeds that would open up more offensive and defensive strategies. An example would be creating a whirlwind with his arms.



Amplified Brain Processor- Barry can think and process information 30 times a normal human being.



Genius Level intellect - Barry is a genius both scientifically and Mathematically.



Fast Regeneration - Barry's regeneration is faster than a normal human being due to his speed.

Speed - Sometimes, Barry's speed is also his greatness weakness. An unexpected trail of ice could make Barry slip at super speed, causing him to become incredibly injured.



Incredibly High and Low Temperatures - Barry's speed can be slowed to a halt whenever he is affected by temperatures that are 0 degrees below.



Humanity - As a Human being, The Flash can easily be killed (When caught) by bullets, knives, radiation, and almost anything can could kill a normal human.

"Hey mom." Barry Allen spoke as he knelt down on the grassy earth. The speedster forced a smile as he placed his hand over the last remaining connection she had to earth. Her grave. "It was an incredibly rough day today." he arched his back a bit, trying not to recall the pain done on his back. "I wish you could've seen me, ma." his other hand, held a bouqet of daisies wrapped in a beautiful lavender wrapper. Her favorite flowers encased in her favorite color. "It's crazy..." his voice soft and weak. "I save hundreds and thousands of people on a daily basis...and I love it, but...It just sucks I couldn't save the one that mattered most." his heart felt cold, he wanted to cry like a baby running for his mother. "I just..." he sighed, "I just miss you."



"And she misses you too, Barry." a hand rested itself agains Barry's shoulder. He turned to look at the person who spoke. It was his dad. Henry Allen. For a moment, a lot of Barry's troubles faded away. "If Nora were alive, she would've told you how well you were doing. And how she's so proud of her son to grow up." The Flash felt like he was eight again, the comforting words of his father with the longing sense for his mother. Barry smile like he hadn't for years. "But let's be real here..." Henry began to speak.



"Dad?" Barry's eyes were concerned.



"You could've saved her. But you didn't." His father spoke out, grabbing him by the collar of his jacket.



Barry couldn't speak, his mind was a swirl of thoughts. Why was his father acting like this? Does he understand the consequences of saving Nora?



"You're not a Hero Barry. You're selfish." he slapped him hard. Physically, Barry didn't even flinch. But emotionally, it was like Superman punched the lights out of him. "You're a worthless hero! I'm ashamed to call you my son!"



The earth started to grab at The Flash's feet. "Dad! Help me! Please!" he begged, crying. The underlying sorrow of having been called worthless and slapped by his own father, Barry was emotionally unready for anything that was going on.



"Help yourself you worthless mutt!" he yelled, digging up Nora Allen's grave.



Barry tried to break free from the earth, vibrating his molecules at high speeds to try and release it's hold. No matter how hard he tried he couldn't move an inch. The fastest man alive never felt so powerless.



Barry could smell rotting flesh as his dad pulled the carcass of his mother from her grave. She didn't look decayed or aged, she still looked beautiful. "Barry!!!" she screeched. She was alive. Her yells were ear shattering, as if there were more layers of voice along with her own. It was frightening. "Why didn't you save me!?"



"I wanted to!" he yelled back, sweating and crying. Half of his body was now swalloed up by the ground, and it was getting faster and faster. "I tried to ma! I really did!!" he kept on yelling until only his neck was above ground.



"You failed me." was the last thing Barry heard before there was darkness. There was silence and an eternal void that felt like forever. The Flash's mind wasn't in it's right place. His emotions were in shambles and his body felt numb and tired. He could, however, still smell the rotting flesh.



He opened his eyes and there was a single source of light coming from the ceiling. It blinded his eyes. Barry tried to stand up, but he was tied to a table via metallic chains and welded metal. His entire body was still weak to try and escape. "How was that?" a low and growl-like voice asked. The Flash recognized that booming voice. Grodd. The Gorilla looked over to him and pulled a helmet out of The Flash's head. "What was it like? Tell us."



He didn't speak, he still couldn't wrap his mind about the hellish nightmare he just went through. Definately a traumatic experience.



"Yes..." a voice much tinier, but more sinister spoke. "Tell us..." he came just after Grodd. A figure wearing a sack for a mask, for a moment, Barry couldn't recognize the figure. But after sometime, he realized it was one of Batman's criminals, Scarecrow.

Hello, I wanted to give you feedback and hope to help you improve this app with some of its faults. I'll list them and want you to respond to them to the best of your ability. If you have any questions for me or any other admins, you can use this time to do it officially and on the record for everyone to see.


1. You're supposed to provide a profile URL that we can contact you with on RPC so that we can inform you of your app status (And maybe do some more research if admin are inclined to want to know more about your character outside of DCU, sometimes that helps display your skill or maybe they know you and it's a surprise to see you a familiar face.

2. In the past I've disagreed with the faceclaim of others, it has almost no impact on the outcome. It's your character and your writing ability, not mine. But I do want to caution you from a writer standpoint...Starting with a comic origin with movie elements (that haven't been released) is foolish. Mostly because you're doing guess work instead of anchoring yourself to something stable. You have no idea what Ezra's personality for Flash is going to be - whether he's a thief (like in Smallville) or if he's a crime lord (Injustice) or the respectable guy we know across most media. These theories aren't far fetched if you've seen BvS.

5. I think you mean "Lightning Bolts on his helmet" a small typo you might want to fix.

6. I'd like a measurement for his speed. Saying "He runs fast" is not acceptable for power gaming reasons, etc. Your measurement can be exceeded such as "He can average mach 1 but, continues to go faster and can potentially reach mach 5" Additionally faactors to include is the control and rate which he speeds himself. For example: Barry can speed himself to mach 1 for .5 seconds and then switch to 200 mph or amp up to mach 3.

7. Genius level of intellect should be on his power set, as Barry is still smart scientifically with a degree in forensic science. This stuff should be addressed as formal training in the training section, which you glossed over in the mentioned section. Barry's mind shouldn't be overlooked. He was an amazing human and becoming a metahuman let him put his human values to better use.

8. No hyper recovery or accelerated healing, why not?

Friends and Family - If there was one weakness that The Flash would be weak to the most, it would be this. Barry can be easily fooled into doing something by simply threatening any of his family members or his loved ones.

8. I think speed is an improper diagnosis of what you're trying to say. In gaming it's called "Tunnel vision" where a person is focused on a single objective and ignore the environmental influences around them. Almost every Flash has this problem, they set their sight on an objective and charge straight for it. Barry and Wally both curb this in the future careers as they get more and more exposure to masterminds like Captain Cold.

9. Friends and Family are a null vulnerability to Barry. He cares about everyone and anyone, including his enemies. He doesn't want anyone to die or be at risk of dying. He's a good man and this point kind of nullifies that humanitarian aspect of his character.

10. Barry has a weakness and strength against extreme heat and extreme cold. Because your body is a giant electrical heat conductor, moving at rapid speeds creates friction ergo heat, which causes sweat and fatigue or fire and lightning at super friction. Cold, like heat, adds resistance to friction slowing you down from .

12. Most players get this area messed up and don't ever fully understand it. I can sit down with you at a later point and explain and help you through this.

The storm seemed to become stronger as time went by. Barry Allen sat on his chair inside the crime lab of Central City's own Police Department. He had been staring at the thunderstorm for almost thirty minutes, deciding whether or not it was Weather Wizard's fault. Barry shook his head, realizing that there was almost no logical explanation as to why Weather Wizard would conjure up a storm. He and the rest of The Rogues were currently too busy getting drunk and causing minor commotions. Captain Cold's gang was never one to cause mass hysteria for no good reason. For them, a good reason would be to get rid of The Flash. Was that their way of calling him out?
Before the scientist could react, there was a knock on the door. "Hey." the voice of a woman sweetly echoed through his ear. Barry always loved the way her voice sounded.

The voice jolted him back to reality. "Hey, Iris." Barry gave her a sweet smile, momentarily forgetting about the thunder storm.

"I was wondering where my superzero went." she chuckled. "I had to drive all the way here."

He gave off a chuckle, he didn't mind the way she was always teasing him like that. In fact, he loved it. "I'm sorry about that." he held her by her shoulders, staring into her eyes.

Iris smiled back. The way she smiled always sent shivers down Barry's spine. To him, there was nothing in the world that was more beautiful.
Barry planted a kiss on her forehead. "The storm's getting worse, you shouldn't have left the house."

"Storm? What Storm?" her face didn't seem to show any signs that she was kidding. Her face showed great concern.

The Flash turned around and pointed at the window. "Look it's stormi-" he paused. Barry couldn't believe what he was seeing. Instead of seeing the storm over the city, there was nothing. Just the rest of Central City with clear night skies. Although there was one troubling aspect in the window. There was a smile. "Iris!" Barry yelled as he turned to his wife, realizing that Mirror Master was playing tricks on the window. The Flash's heart sank, seeing his wife being held roughly by a familiar white hooded figure. Captain Cold. Behind the villain, was the rest of his gang. Heatwave, Weather Wizard, Trickster, and the Top.

"Well well well." Leonard spoke. The mere fact that he was touching Barry's wife made his blood boil. To top it off, his cold gun was pointed against her skull.

"You let her go Snart, or I swear.." The Flash balled his fists, ready to rush in and put them to bed.

Cold clicked his tongue, "Don't be too hasty..." he pressed the gun harder against her head. "..or she dies."

The only upside in the situation, was that they didn't know who she was or what her relationship to Barry was. All they knew was that she was in their way of a master plan. "What do you want Cold?"

"We want access to all our files." Heatwave threatened by pointing his own weapon towards Barry. "All of it."

"You know there's no way I'm giving it to you right?" Barry challenged.

"Then she dies." Cold calmly replied.

The Flash looked around, scanning the area for any form of traps. There were tons of surfaces that could reflect, like the window, the test tubes, flasks and basically anything made of glass inside the laboratory, which meant that Mirror Master, had access to a lot of angles. They would know if Barry would move an inch. Captain Cold and Heatwave were directly next to one another, the burst of fire and ice would not be good for anyone inside the room. The two rogues must've already known that. The Top and Trickster were behind them, guarding the door. There was only one way Barry could save Iris without harming anyone. The Flash vibrated his body at an immense speed and smiled at Iris. She smiled back. He felt a rush of comfort, and for one brief moments just before rushing in for an attack, because of her smile, everything was fine.

13. You can write very well. The story has a few small twists in it which make it somewhat interesting to the reader. With that said I don't really enjoy it, the whole short story comes off as unimaginative and very typical of any superhero story. You could literally replace Barry in this situation and put Spiderman, Superman, Batgirl, The Atom...

You display Barry's personality fairly well, from a reader's perspective it comes off as if you don't fully understand how to articulate his personality but, you do demonstrate an understanding of the personality.

You didn't list accelerated healing, but added it after Bruce suggested it. Did you have a reason for not adding it to start with? It's your choice if you want to include it or not. Not having it, does add some interesting drama with it being a weakness.

Friends and Family is a good weakness. It really showed in your post too. Bruce had a nice suggestion to make it broader. But just Friends and Family works too. It all depends on how you want to portray him. How you make him your own.

I liked your original post more than the new one.
I think you may have been hasty in throwing it away.
It had nice build up and showed a lot of Barry's personality and weakness for those he cared about.

I think it would have been nice to see more around it. How he works with the guys in the police department, or other heroes. Or how he interacts with Iris, despite the craziness which happened.
Or to see how he holds his own in a fight. Using his wits with his speed.
Which would have been hard to add in the newer post.

Hi! Thank you for all the comments. First, I'd like to apologize for not replying immediately. I've been busy with work and stuff. Next, I'd like to say that 1. I chose not to include accelerated healing because I wanted Barry to experience long lasting effects of his injuries or battle damages. 2. The Flash's ring totally slipped my mind. 3.I deleted the friends and family as weakness, because I realized that it does mean that Barry does not care for everyone else.

It should be fair to note, this isn't my first time reviewing an application and it's probably your first time going through this process. It's RP, not a job...but within our group some players have commented (jokingly) that it is like a job because we have LOA and activity policies as well chatroom rules, etc. All are essential to creating the environment we as roleplayers seek to play in.

Usually I'm described as a rigid and hard to please man, this isn't without basis. Rather than my usual routine I'm going to attempt something different with you and hopefully it'll work. That strategy is very simple, I'll tell you what I'm looking for and you'll either agree and go with it or disagree and leave.

1. I want you to stand your ground.

Barry is a Man's man. He's not spineless and this is an essential trait you should share with the character. Do I expect you to be perfect? Of course not. We are not inside your head. Your application is your method of communicating to us and everyone else "HEY, I have these great ideas for this character, let me share them with you all."

I went round and around with my fellow admins about my first post stating it's "foolish" is too hurtful and insulting. The reason I used that wording was to tell you that I'm not going to sugar coat things for you. I want you to trust me and if I lie to you, the foundation of our relationship is already off on a rocky start. Moreover, if you can't take the attention of someone shining the spotlight on you, you're going to have a lot of problems in the group because we hold people accountable for causing drama or refusing to RP, or not being active.

2. I want to know your RP plans for past, present, and future.

Every character has an origin story, I want to know what your plans are for RPing this origin. It doesn't have to Barry getting hit by lightning. But for example, Barry's first meeting with Hal Jordan or his first team up with Black Canary. You want "flexibility" with the Cinema universe, but you haven't presented any creativity that can be built off the cinema universe.

You're a writer, so inspire others to want to write with you. Get them excited, energized, and pumped to RP with you. Give then ideas for the future, ideas for the present, and ideas for the past.

HINT: Your timeline is supposed to help do this. Bullet point moments like this "The Flash and Green Lantern team up against Mirror Master and Sinestro." <- THIS Tells everyone in a subtle way "I want to RP with Green Lantern." or something like "The Flash has an interview with Lois Lane"

Your timeline isn't supposed to be paragraphs of detail (You can add a new section if you want to give more detail on the events inside your timeline.)

3. I want you to embrace Barry Allen's character.

For writing inspiration, look at things in your life and ask yourself..."What would Barry do if he was faced in this situation? Speed can't help here."

4. I don't want to see: Lazy writing or attempts to "appeal" to me.

Adding Scarecrow to your audition post was completely unnecessary and pointless. Grodd could get away with that entire scenario and have no need for Scarecrow.

Your first audition, what I didn't like about it was the incredible amount of 'heroic cliche' presented in it. Slapping all of Flash's rogue gallery together to present some kind of elaborate scheme that when you re-read it you think "Um...this is a completely dumb idea, from a criminal's perspective. If he's just a scientist...why does it require 7 superpowered men to corner him? Isn't he at a police station? Wouldn't there be cops flooding the room after these 7 men doing all but leading an assault on the police station and crime lab?" As I read it my mind asks these questions like a detective would and the more questions I ask, the less interested I become with the story because I'm more objective rather than subjugated by it.

You have to look at what DC comics is about - Detective stories; mysteries. Mysteries help puzzle our favorite characters into impossible situations that we as readers question "Who, what, where, when, why, and how?" at the same time, the character is also trying to get these answers. The character draws us in, seeing them react to discoveries, seeing them react to changes and plot twists, THAT is what we as readers enjoy about reading.

Most people that I spoke to about your first audition post said "That whole window trick with the storm and then sunshine was cool about his post."

Single this part out about your first audition post (its quoted in my initial reply) that time frame of the post puts Barry into a mystery and it immediately draws the reader in because of the conflict within Barry's world. The situation and circumstances changed and in that instant his mind began to work. Everyone could see the gears turning in Barry's head as he's trying to figure out an explanation that's logical.

As readers we don't want a "Zip! One and done!" hero, but we also don't like idiots either. The hardest part of playing a hero is understanding the criminals you're up against. Understanding a crime with proper motive.

Captain Cold doesn't just "take hostages," Captain Cold isn't just a pawn or minion. He's a criminal mastermind. He can plan a heist in his sleep. He's on par with Lex Luthor for Superman and Ra's al Ghul for Batman. These are men who utilize all of their resources to trick, ensnare, and confuse their opponents. If they have a hostage, there's likely somewhere else they have to be and they realize you can't be in two places at once.

If Poison Ivy, Killer Frost, or Heatwave hold a hostage, it's most likely their endgame and their last stand. There's nothing elaborate, no deceptive plan to assassinate the mayor or sneak funds out of a bank. The point of this long winded explanation is to say, the more villains you add to a story...the greater the complexity and if it isn't complex? Then it's just lazy. That even applies to Hollywood, TV shows, comics, books, video games, everything. More does not always equal better.





If I haven't scared you off with the above, there's hope for you yet.

As it stands right now, I'm willing to give you a trial period of 3 weeks to see what you'll do. But I think you'll flake out in a month's time. You'll get bored because you don't have a passion to be here. You're just "meh, it'll kill some time."

My challenge to you is this...prove me wrong.
