Elaine
It was a pretty sunny and bright day in the city of Metropolis, the sun was fully up there, clear skies, fairly high temperature and Elaine was, well, not flying or anything like that, in fact she looked like a normal raven haired girl without her wings. She had just stopped in front of a music store, looking at the many CDs and vinyl records exposed at the other side of the window. The way she walked, slowly calmly, with care signalled that maybe she had some sort of difficulty. She was also wearing sunglasses which kind of hid her eyes and the fact that they made her look like a blind girl since they were fully white. She did not have a dog with her though, or a cane. That said her attention seemed to be focused in one place in particular, a T.a.t.u compilation and, by the looks of it, she was trying to figure out which songs it contained but, she had not decided to walk into the store yet. She was wearing what looked like a short white summer dress and sneakers.

Weeee wooo weee wooo! The sirens of police cars rung down the vibrant city streets of Metropolis. ”Oh c’mon, can’t ya give a girl a break for once!?” The jester groaned, acrobatically making her way across the building rooftops, dressed in her classic red and black clown costume, holding a bulky bag of stolen cash. “I thought Metropo-whateva was a happy city!” She said to herself, before slipping down between two buildings, letting the cars lose sight of her and drive on by as she was pressed against the window of the ledge she had landed on. Harley held up her bag of cash and grinned, before humming a little tune and making her way to the ground. From the corner of her eye, she noticed a little music store across the street. “Ooh! I know where the first of this money’s goin’!” She chirped, prancing over to it without any care towards the cars almost crashing into her. In front of the store stood a girl in a dress with black hair, just staring into the window. Kinda odd. “Hold this, will ya? Thanks!” Harley said as she threw the bag at the girl and pulled out a little cupcake grenade. “Fire in the hole!!” She yelled, throwing the grenade at the window and turning around to shove her fingers in her ears. BOOM!
Elaine
She had forgotten how noisy cities could get, they were totally breaking her Zen! Elaine let out a frustrated groan at the police commotion and before she knew it a blonde clown girl had very merrily placed a bad of money on her hands, making Elaine blink twice, a bit like a confused loony tunes character “huh?” she mumbled as confused as her facial expression. She looked at Harley, well kind of or at least in her direction, arms holding the bag while she prepared her strange looking grenade, which just added to Elaine’s confusion. “What do you mean fire in the hole?” she asked with the accent of a girl born and raised in London, “No you will ruin it!” she added, understanding what was going on a bit too late! BOOM! Elaine looked towards where her beloved T.a.t.u. cd compilation was, and it was no more! She pouted and stepped towards Harley “Why would you do that?! You could have paid for anything in there!” she said as she gave the bag back to Harley and then she pulled on her hat with both hands, one for each pigtail-thing, hard and with mean punishing intentions! But without tearing it apart, obviously!

The display window of the store smashed into thousands of pieces after the explosion, and Harley merrily caught the bag from the girl who now questioned her intentions. “Oh, yeah! I do have enough money! Ahwell, no take-sies back-sies!” She chuckled, oblivious to the girl’s displeasure until having her fool’s hat be tugged on. “Hey, hey, hey! Y’know how many o’ these I need ta repair each week!? Give ya a hint, It’s a lot!” Harley yelled, before finally pulling away. “Okay, I’ll make it up to ya! I’ll grab some goodies and then we can go pay for some icecream! Stay right here, er.. whatever ya name is!” The clown girl did a forwards flip through the window without getting herself caught on the glass, and landed in the rubble of the store. “Now let’s see.. Ooh, that looks good!” She said to herself, with a finger on her chin and the scared mumbles of the shop keeper just tingling in her ear. “Oh!” Grabbing about five copies of the same CD she turned over to the counter and slammed them down. “What do ya think, too vintage?” She asked him, who was shaking on the ground, too terrified to speak. “Eh, who needs your opinion?” The jester stuffed the CD’s in her bag and made her way back to the girl. “So what’s the name? You look like a Mary.” She grinned, adjusting her mask. “Us psychiatrists know our stuff, y’know.” Harley noted, smug.

She pulled and pulled, letting out and fully expressing her annoyance to her new annoyance, another groan and Elaine seemed to be done with it. “Well maybe you should behave better so that people don’t have to tug on your hats for making this kind of mess! Hmpf!” she said as she folded her arms around her stomach and looked away from her. For some reason she was not terrified like the shop keeper, weird calm girl! “huh?” she mumbled when she heard the promise of ice-cream. She looked in Harley’s direction “Okay, I think that will be fair enough for me, kind of” she replied, agreeing to free ice-cream, Elaine had a half smile crossing her lips, it looked kind of beautiful and it was the kind of smile that a girl like her made when some mischief was going on her mind. Shortly after when Harley was back with her, asking about her name, Elaine shook her head “It’s not Mary, funny that you would suggest that name though” she giggled softly “My name is Elaine, and yours? By the way there is an ice-cream parlor not too far from here, in that direction” she said as she pointed behind herself with a thumb “coming?” she asked as she started to walk in said direction. Meanwhile something else was happening within the shop though, much to the disbelief of the shop keeper. Some of the money that Harley had in her bad was disappearing and reappearing next to the shop keeper on the floor, forming a little flower. When it stopped a note appeared on top that read “Mister shop keeper, my apologies for not being able to prevent the damage on your shop, it looked pretty nice before it! I trust that you will use this money to repair the damage and I look forward to visit your shop as beautiful as it was before! Kind Regards. Elaine PS: Please try to get more T.a.t.u. material ASAP!”

“Elaine, huh?” Harley blinked. “That’s a nice name. Not as nice as Mary, but nice! My name is Harleen, but you can just call me Harley! Everyone does!” She said joyfully, before throwing the bag of her own shoulder. “Okay, let’s go, Elaine!” The clown girl agreed, unaware of what was happening with her money. She began to skip cheerfully down the road, people along the foot path moving out of her way due to her villainous reputation. “Wow, the people really are nicer here! Do ya live here, Elaine?” Harley asked the girl, as she looked around at the bright city as sun beamed through the crystal clear windows. Atlast they stood at the front of a store with a giant picture of the ice cream above the doors. “This must be the place! I haven’t even decided what I want!” Harley gasped, her eyes widening slightly. “Guess I’ll have whatever you’re havin’! Order away!” She chirped, grabbing a handful of notes and shoving them at Elaine before slamming open the door with her hand raised high and a huge grin on her face. “Good afternoon, folks!”
Elaine
“Thank you! I like it too even if it’s a very common name, but maybe a bit more unique than Mary so that’s something in my favor” she replied with a bit of a fun prideful smile. “Harley seems rarer, never met someone with that name before” she looked thoughtful for a moment before shaking her head, nope, did not ring a bell. Afterwards she raised both eyebrows at Harley’s question about living here “No, I just live wherever I am at any moment, here and there, you know? Simplifies everything a lot.” She nodded twice “So I take it that you’re not from around here, where from then? By the way those are some really peculiar clothes for a psychiatrist to wear, were you aware of that? You must be melting though with this weather” she grinned at her own question, finding it funny. Elaine seemed to cheer up when she saw the parlor but she blinked confused when green notes were placed on her hands, “geez!” she let out, surprised by the girl’s abrupt energy. She walked inside after her. “Good afternoon ma’am, could I have a… um, let me see just one moment” she said as she looked down at the many many flavors, chewing her lower lip while doing so. “Um I guess you can never go wrong with chocolate, that one? Please? Two of them.” Elaine would use the money to pay for the ice creams though.
Harlequin
“Oh!” Harley turned to Elaine. “It does get pretty hot sometimes, and so I make summer versions where the fabric is more breathable, see!” She pinched part of her suit to show its lack of density. Letting go of the fabric she continued on into the store. “I’m livin’ in Gotham City! It’s usually gloomy over there, or raining. Infact, it’s not a very fun place at all!” She chuckled. “I actually quit my job as a psychiatrist because they had some sorta problem with what I do, ain’t that hilarious?” Making their way through the crowds of people who ran out the door, Harley looked around at all the different kinds of ice cream. “What’s their problem?” She mumbled. Harley watched intently as the person making the ice-creams’ shaking hands shoved each scoop into their cones. “You’re good at this, maybe I should make ice-creams.” She poundered, before greatfully snatching the cone from the girl and tasting it with a glint in her eye. “It’s so good!” She chimed, almost floating out the door as if she had been enlightened by the taste of this ice cream.
Elaine
“Hmm?” she looked curiously at the outfit, poking Harley’s arm with a finger just to check “I see! I guess it works well enough although I just prefer dresses in summer, or shorts and a top or a t-shirt of whatever, or a cover-up with swimwear too if I’m going to the beach, that’s always nice and light” she went on and on. “Oh I was in Gotham once, pretty crappy city if you ask me, I’m not entirely sure how is it holding itself together” she replied too while the woman behind the counter struggled to prepare their ice-creams “If I had to guess…” they’re scared of you for some reason, maybe it’s the whole clown thing but I have the feeling that some of them seemed to recognize you, you must be pretty infamous huh?” she said before she paid, well, with all of the money that Harley had given her “Keep all of the extra ma’am, for all the trouble please, my apologies” she said with a smile before taking her ice cream and leaving with Harley. “Maybe you should, you know? Move over here, set up a nice ice-cream parlour by the beach, I am pretty sure that you would cheer up everyone with that energy of yours while serving ice-cream, besides, it’s less risky than doing, this, whatever you’re doing to get that money” she pointed to the bag with a finger before lick licking her chocolate ice-cream, blue eyes going a bit wide, it was so good!
Harlequin
Waving cheerfully to the lady who gave her the ice cream, Harley paced with Elaine down the path, with no real destination in mind. “Scared of me? Huh.” Harley took another lap of her ice cream before staring at the clouds above. “Well I guess, that would be because I’m in a lovin’ relationship with the Joker.” She said softly, almost serious now as thoughts ran through her head, of what her and her ‘Mistah J.’ would do to people; things that at this current moment seemed unorthodox. She went quiet for a moment, before perking back up. “Hey! That sounds like a mighty fine idea! But, I mean.. I don’t really know how ta be someone like that.” She shook her head. “I say we go to tha beach, right now! It’s only a few blocks from here, let’s go!” Maybe it was just her own distraction, but Harley kept her spirits high as she skipped down the street now ahead of Elaine, smiling with her icecream melting down her fingers. She kept her gaze on the visible ocean, while it reflected back from her sky blue eyes.
Elaine
“Who is that? Oh wait, no need, I guess it’s some kind of very infamous person with a peculiar outfit too” she said with a grin before going back to enjoy her ice-cream for a short bit “What a strange world, huh?” she commented kind of idly. “What do you mean be someone like that? You just have to be yourself, selling ice-cream for a living, and then doing whatever you like to do, like, I don’t know, hanging out with friends, what do you like to do again? Like, hobbies?” she asked Harley, barely in time to see her getting excited about going to the beach and something worse, her ice-cream was melting, and she did not care that it was getting on her fingers! Clearly this clown girl was insane!!! “Harley! Lick your ice-cream! It’s melting!” she yelled after a gasp. Then Elaine followed Harley and eventually caught up at the beach, although Elaine’s ice cream was being properly eaten and licked away during all this time, like it should anyway!
Harlequin
Harley was already too far ahead of Elaine to hear what she was saying, except for the comment on her melting ice cream. “Oh, oops!” She yelped, then attempting to lick up all of the melted ice cream. She struggled with the ice cream while holding the bag of money and walking towards the beach. What a hassle! “Oh, darn this!” She screeched, before tossing the bag on the footpath for a moment before pulling out a handful of miniature-sized explosive pellets, tossing them at the road and watching each one pop as if they were deadly popcorn. The cars began to spin out of control, some crashing into each other and car alarms sounding as parked cars were knocked about. “C’mon Elaine, I’ve got us a ride!” Harley motioned for the girl to come over, before grabbing her bag of cash and yanking open the car door of a vehicle that had come to a halt without crashing. “Sorry buster, I’ve got places to be!” She shouted at the driver as she pulled him from the driver’s seat and sat in his spot, throwing the bag by her side. Beeeep, beeep! “C’mon, Elaine! Let’s get outta here!”
Elaine
Elaine facepalmed when she saw the new chaos, surely this girl would happily become Friends with a certain wolf if they ever met! “Harley!!! There was a taxi right there, you could have just waved your hand for it to stop if you wanted a ride!” she yelled at her, then used her free hand, because the other was still holding her own ice-cream to pull on her hat again, as punishment. Another groan of girlish frustration and Elaine went to the passenger seat. “You know you have a very strange way of doing things, you sure you were a psychiatrist? Hmm?” she was tempted to peer into her mind just to check if it was truth but decided against it, mostly because she was busy leaving money and apology letters to those involved in the crash, that said... the bag of money was probably getting emptier and emptier! Elaine crossed her legs over the knee though, comfy on the seat of the car and licked what was left of her ice-cream before chewing and biting the cone, nom! She grinned then licked her her lips clean “There is always a price you know, for all we do, some are cheaper than others! But a proportionate price to pay sounds fair, huh?” she told Harley, Elaine could get weird like this at times.
Harlequin
Harley gasped. “How dare you! Of course I was a psychiatrist! I’ve got the certificate to prove it! Hmph!” Her foot aggressively trod down on the pedal, reversing back into a lamp post and causing her to bounce forward a little. “Yikes! No seatbelts!” The clown girl yanked the seatbelt over herself, accidentally tearing part of her costume with the buckle. “Today is not my day.” She puffed her cheeks and exhaled, now changing gears, turning around, and flooring it towards the beach with an already sort-of-busted car. She gripped both hands on the steering wheel, leaning forward with steely determination in her eyes. “Here it cooomes..” She whispered with her sight locked onto a ramp on the side of a truck. “GO!” The car hit the ramp at just the right moment lunging the car – with the girls in it – up into the sky, with Harley cheering and laughing excitedly, letting go of the wheel. The car flew up towards the now setting sun, with police sirens seeping through the noise of her own car engine. This was the start of a beautiful, wacky friendship.
