I've always taken an interest in the Marvel and DC world and it's nice to see a constant open room with roleplay in it.

Training: Judo, Jujitsu, Swordsmanship, Kenjutsu, Battojutsu,Iaijutsu, Naginatajutsu, Sojutsu, Ninjutsu, Kendo, Aikido, Kyudo, Karate, Shorinji Kempo

Equipment: Soultaker: Forged by Muramasa, this weapon has the ability to collect the souls she has slain storing them inside the sword itself. The souls itself can be reincarnated to do her bidding though it takes a sacred ritual for her to perform such acts. Although tedious work, she is able to summon the souls with relative ease during combat. With the ritual in place and the granted gift to make dead souls 'live' for a short period of time, it does not grant her immortality. Though she is able to communicate with the collected souls who have been slayed by the blade, her husband for example. With the ability to communicate with the collected souls, Tatsu is able to gain a bit more enlightenment and knowledge along the way. In most cases one would see Tatsu communicating with her husband.

Shurikens, daggers, caltrops, and bracelets that can be tied together to be used as a projectile.

Powers / Abilities 

Agility - Although she is a lot quicker and her stamina is greater than an average human, her agility does somewhat come close to a superhuman, given the circumstance.

Marksmanship - Her marksmenship does not come close to her hand-to-hand combat or her swordsmanship, though she is quite versatile with long ranged weapons such as bow and arrows. Artilleries such as guns are not her forte, foreign though she could hit a few perfect rounds a the range.

Necromancy - With the collected souls, Tatsu is able to raise them from the 'dead' for combat purposes. They take on corporal forms and temporarily do her bidding, a single heavy blow will make them return back to the blade itself. The ability will be given to the user who holds the sword.

Stealth - Her extensive training in ninjitsu has carried her quite far in terms of assassinations when she needs to perform such an act. She is silent on sneaking upon enemies to quickly disarm them, maim or kill.

Swordsmanship - A fully trained onna bugeisha she had been taught to use many samurai class weapons.

Unarmed Combat - Tatsu excels at hand-to-hand combat, with her extensive knowledge and her ongoing training is easy for her to keep up with Batman and many other superhumans.

Weaknesses 

I'm only human - As a human, Katana has weaknesses much like everyone else, prone to sickness superhuman abilities and anything else that may harm any another human from Earth.

Devastation - With the death of her family it has definitely taken it's toll on her. She is definitely an unstable person emotionally as she is easily triggered by rage or completely tries to ignore emotion completely.  

Character Timeline 

1992 - Born and raised in Japan 

2004 - Tatsu's parents had both fallen ill to an unknown sickness and past away. 

2005 - Maseo and Tatsu get married  

2005 - Takeo, jealous of the decision of Maseo over himself had fled and joined the Yakuza unknown for his whereabouts. He had an acquired taste for exotic weaponry in which he had gotten his hands on a katana named Soultaker with magical properties in which he would use to exact revenge on his family and Maseo.

2006 - Maseo and Tatsu are having twins!

2010 - Maseo's death.

2010 - Children's death.

2011 - Tatsu had finally fulfilled her training and suited with samurai armor and had went under the name 'Katana' as the weapon she had wielded, she was on the hunt for him, for Takeo.  

2013 - Takeo's death.

2015 - Meets and joins The Outsiders

Years 3 - 4(Present)
- Attempt to learn self control of her emotions.
- Continue vigorous training while keeping a watchful eye on Halo.
- Learning to be more social.

Years 4 - 5
- Better control of emotions.
- Settle down, remarry, children, keep in contact of Halo.
- Retire as a vigilante.

Audition post 

It had been many years since she had lost her family in the fire as well her husband, fingers delicately ran along the hilt of her weapon. She was masked, though only the upper half of her visage had been concealed. The suit of armor she had left behind for something more silent for her kills if there were any. She was slender, womanly curves had been shown to allow those who had seen her in which was rare identify her as a woman. "Maseo..Gomen nasai.." She had muttered under her lips, she was in a crouch position within the tops of the highest building. Eyes from the slots of the mask had looked down upon the people of the city, the air was warm and the moon was full cradled in the velvety obsidian sky that twinkled stars, littered though covered with the cities pollution. Tatsu's eyes narrowed and seemingly zoomed into a man clad in black though heavily armed with katanas in the like at his side, and at his back. Arms decorated with tattoos that showed others that he was apart of the Yakuza and he wasn't a force to be reckon with. "Toshirou." She stood herself up and walked along the edge of the building, stealthy as to not be seen from those that might see her from below. Tatsu followed his movement down to the alleyway as she moved from closer and closer to him. Twenty feet from the ground, she held her breath for a moment. He had been alone, and this was her time to strike. She had leapt into the air and dove down, blade quickly and quietly unsheathed. A slice to the left and his head would be wiped clean off, she was going to. She will, it was his time.

5. First question, Is "Code of Honor" not classifiable as a weakness? Many would argue that Batman's "No kill policy" is a weakness, as a contrast for you. (required answering)

6. Second question, would you say her ability to speak English and Japanese is an ability, skill, or training attribute?

7. I like the description for Marksmanship.

8. Another question, can Katana's sword grant her immortality?

9. Can Katana's sword grant her a heightened sense of clarity or Enlightenment?

10. Can she communicate with her sword?

11. By the previous questions regarding the sword, I would recommend adding your answers to your Equipment section for the sword OR creating a sub-section of the abilities to state "These abilities are granted from Soultaker and thus empower Katana with the following. X, Y, Z abilities."

12. Does Katana have any emotional feelings that could be classified as a weakness? (Anger, sorrow, glee, greed, lust, etc) I'm not talking about the typical human flaws that everyone has, but for example; Batman's parents are an emotional flaw for him, wouldn't Tatsu have the same flaw for her husband and/or children? This becomes relevant because a God or magician could use magic to see into her heart and mind to seek out a weakness or vulnerability.

- She was unable to save her two children and barely made it out alive. Years had passed and she had continued to study the samurai ways her nature had changed, returning to her love of war for a different reason.

- Tatsu had finally fulfilled her training and suited with samurai armor and had went under the name 'Katana' as the weapon she had wielded, she was on the hunt for him, for Takeo.

14. There is no real background given to Takeo and his relationship to her, it just pops out as "Takeo wants revenge for some unknown reason." Not required but, I would revise this as you're trying to tie together Tatsu, Maseo, and Takeo. Think about this like you're explaining it to someone who knows nothing about her history. (Plenty of players in our community know very little about her.) so you want give them an opportunity to say "Hey, my character could totally sympathize with her character, we should have them meet!" Thus you get the ball rolling for RP.

15. What I want is (I) The year she started taking up the vigilante persona "Katana" (II) The year her family died. (III) the year Takeo died. (IV) A year when she meets up with The Outsiders. Those are mandatory things I want in your timeline.

16. Specifically for Earth 4 (if you want to apply for the position, if not ignore this) I want somewhere in your timeline, a direction for your character. The timeline should outline like this....(Past = years 1 and 2)(Present = years 3 to 4)(Future = years 4 to 5)

in summary: The audition post is acceptable. It doesn't demonstrate a lot of her personality, but it does demonstrate a core piece of it, which is determination.

I like the application more than I would scrutinize it. It's not perfect but, it's functioning enough to get your feet wet. I would like for you to address the questions I asked earlier and make the appropriate changes required for the application; Birthday and Timeline fix.
