Character Origin: Comics mostly, going about middle of the road from the original Hellblazer series but bumping the time up a bit.
Face Claim's Name: Matt Ryan
Name: John Constantine
Alias: Hellblazer
Race: Human
Age: Thirty Two
Birthday: May 10th, 1953
Alignment: Chaotic Good (mostly)
Height: About five-ten
Weight: Maybe 68kg
Hair: Blond
Eyes:Dark brown
Physique: Lean and wiry like a man used to running
Training: Stage Magic | Extensive Occult Knowledge | Brawling Skills
Equipment: Lighter | Pack of Smokes | Various Magical Bits and Bobs For Any Situation
Powers / Abilities
Ability - Cunning: John prefers not to rely on his magic to win battles, but rather on cunning. All magic has a push and a pull if you want something you have to give something, so it's far better to get your opponent to destroy themselves than waste energy blasting down doors.
Ability - Manipulative: A big part of his cunning and his danger is Constantine's willingness and ability to get others to do what he wants. He is willing and able to lie, mislead, and otherwise, obfuscate reality to get people to perform as he desires.
Power - Sorcery: Exorcist, Demonologist, and Master of the Dark arts as his business cards put it. His extensive knowledge of the occult means he has knowledge of how to perform various ritual, spells, and conjurations to get all manner of effects. Well, not the most powerful magic wielder he is perhaps the most versatile, dabbling in every ancient tradition of magic without giving a full commitment. His most used ability is also his most subtle, John likes to make his own luck.
Weaknesses
Weakness - Mortality: John may have magic but he is still human skin and bones, which means he is at the end of the day quite mortal. This is most obvious in his terminal lung cancer from a life time of smoking.
Weakness - Morality: Like any hero, John has the compulsion to do the right thing. Unlike most heroes, he is willing to do a little bad to serve a greater good. Unfortunately, this means he is also willing to take risks other wouldn't in pursuit of those goals, this can lead to complications.

Audition post
There were in John's estimation two main types of slum, and the difference between the two came down to hope. There were low income communities where people retained hope and stayed positive. They may not have had much, but the people had each other and they strive to protect that. The other kind where the communities without hope, where something happened and the people just gave up. Sometimes it was because of drugs, other times violence, and other times some tragedy. Something happened and the people stopped trying to make their little slice of hell on earth more like heaven.
Most of the time when this happened it was just people being awful to other people, other times though there was something at work. Gotham was a city that was one big melting pot of slums, it seemed like each neighbourhood was another kind of low income homogeneity. John was leaning against a light post in one such slum, a cigarette dangling in his hand as he looked around in the dim orange light.
From all reports the slum he was in had once been the type with hope, the kind where people still clung to the belief that one day things would get better. Then their kids started disappearing, teenagers, vanished in the night and the police to swamped with work to look into it. Why would they? These poor kids probably just ran away and there weren't that many disappearances yet. Still, John had a friend in these parts and he'd asked for some investigative work to be done. John hadn’t thought he'd find anything, but when he'd stepped into this slum he'd felt the difference.
There was something dark in this part of town, something hungry. It hadn't taken John long to find the common thread between the disappearances all of the kids had been walking home late at night. They'd all been coming down this street, and with a little hoodoo John could see where they were going.
The house was a plain old brownstone, like every other on the block. The windows were boarded up with plywood and the door locked with a padlock. Only if you looked close would you notice the oddities, the lack of graffiti and vandalism, the lawn clear of debris, the way the shadows seemed to cling to it. Something had taken up residence in this house and it was feeding on this community. The question was, what is it and how did he drive it away? He takes a puff of his cigarette and ponders this as he watches in the dim orange light.
