Powers / Abilities
Her abilities, as far as it is known thus far, are supported and given by her Patron, a demon named Beliel. These abilities are ever growing as she expands her use of them and puts them to practice. For now, they are considered first tier in power against large opponents.
Armor of Agathys The ability to call up an armor to coat herself that only looks like a glisten of frost on her, the lightest sheen. But it helps protect against all physical and most magical attacks, just not greatly. It will not stop a bullet, but it can deflect a badly aimed one.
Hellfire The ability to call up fire, and not just any fire, Hellfire, as John Constantine has helped her discover, in smaller forms and attacks. This is her second favorite ability.
Witch Bolt Her favorited ability, this grants her an energy to surround her hand and half toward her elbow with a crackling energy and can be sent out as a bolt or an arc of continuous blast much like electricity used by the Jedi (if you've seen that dude in the cloak and his nasty dental work)
Hellish Rebuke The ability to, when attacked or her temper has quickened to rage, throw out a greater response of fire, in a wall, or individually targeting her adversaries. This cannot be done often and drains her almost entirely, as well as greatly puts her on the map to darker things seeking her out and allowing a greater connection with them in her own body and mind. It is used when out of other options.
Telekenisis The ability to move things with her mind. This ability is not overly strong, perhaps enough to move or carry a person but not over great distance or longevity. She can use it as a shield but not a greatly strong one. This ability requires focus and energy.
Pretesdigiation Small illusions, nothing lasting very long or very big. It can be done with audio and/or visual effects but she must keep concentration to do so.
Weaknesses
Human Element she is human and therefore subsequently weak toward all elements that would harm or kill a human being. Fire, being especially her favorite, she is resistant some due to a rune given by John Constantine, but she is still sucetible to it.
Psychic Threat she is noticeably quite open to spells and charms as well as psychic threats against her mind and mental will. This has been unfortunately proven several times and she has no defenses against it as of yet.
Compassion while not as uncooth and willfully able to throw someone under the bus as John Constantine, she is still able to make some decisions like him. However, she does care about the lives of others and will attempt to seek a way to avoid harming others rather than using them so easily as he does.
Foolish Decisions Kate has an extreme lean toward alcoholism and a lack of inhibitions both morally and sexually with drugs and alcohol and the scene that it commonly entails. This leads her to put herself in stupid positions and uncaring of such. She has a bi-sexual way of life and the personality to go along with a devil may care, especially when she's enabled herself. She attends both the bar and club scenes, occasionally a rave.
Magical Knowledge/Understanding She has been trained on some basics of magic from her adoptive father years ago, but was also left quite in the dark to keep her from gaining the abiity to get in his way. Therefore, she greatly relies on John's knowledge and lead on things and only sometimes is able to support help in these areas if they touch on the small corners she was privvy to.
Claustraphobic Due to her past with her abusive adoptive father, a lifetime of locked away in boxes and closets has left her with a fear of the small, dark spaces and places she can't escape from that feel entrapping. She panics easily in situations like this and is consumed often by fear.
Audition post
New Orleans, a favorite haunt and the only place she could really see as home. The air smelled thick and hot like the swamps that inhabited it, and the soil was too wet often enough. But the sounds, oh, the soft jazz and cool night air. On the breeze was laughter and drunken hoorahs, the notes of a saxophone spilling out with lazy expertise. A walk down the Quarter brought the urge for bbq or gumbo, and the inability to stay away from her favorite vice. Kate stepped into one of the local favorites and sat down at the bar just as the man behind it turned to greet her.
"Kate," he said with appreciated reverence.
Her answering smile was, as usual, tickled with a sexy tilt. "Joel, miss me?"
He gave a huff of a laugh and set the bar glass he was shining down below, "I missed your perfume and your wallet." They both gave a soft laugh, "What will it be tonight?" She sighed and leaned an arm holding her forehead on the brown wood of the bar as she thought about her answer.
"Whiskey. Make it a double." Kate answered finally, certain of it as well.
He nodded and gave a shrug, "Why not a triple?" It was half a joke and half a temptation. Kate went for the later. She wasn't usually one to back down from a challenge either.
"Make it two doubles, and we'll have some fun later." Her eyes spoke more as her lips tempted to sing for him. Joel cleared his throat with a slight blush and turned to do as she asked.
Some time later, she was completely leaned against the brick building in the alley, watching the thin, gray clouds smear across the sky and waiting for them to pass to see the bright stars behind their curtainy view. There was drunken singing happening a couple of allies over and more jazz from a bar just across the street whose neon lights were gleaming in the puddles gathered from the last rain. Drunken buzz felt right. It felt comfortable, and safe. But as her lids fluttered to close to ease into accepting the buzz a little more, she heard it.
It started low like whispers but it became so loud it was like hissing in her ears. The mutter of another language on top of another smearing in and out of focus until the main voice spoke through them. "I.....see.....you...."
Kate whipped around and her heel caught the edge of the uneven brick street. Her ass kissed the concrete and she snapped her teeth together in a painful clatter before looking around. No one. As usual. But she felt eyes on her, knew it was him, that dark bastard of a thing. It was skrying or however it managed to see her from time to time. The tattoo-like markings burned her skin on the innards of her upper forearms and she almost hissed in pain. But suddenly there was a more real sense of someone joining her in the alley and she looked up to find the stretching shadow from a pillar of a creature. Its horns curved around and up over his head, his wild mane and thick goatee were only the start of the hair on the thing. It huffed out a hot breath and she could see the air from it.
Kate didn't need more than that. She threw out her arm, gathering the magic in herself and watching it gathering in a white-blue light accompanied by something akin to electricity around her hand. "Forzare." she hissed and watched the witch bolt go hurtling across the alley and at the beast. It tried to move, going for a duck to the side but it wasn't fast enough and the bolt caught it in the upper chest and shoulder. The light exploded into a firey blast that flashed a bright light leaving the beast howling in pain and reaching for the now massive hole in his upper torso. Damnit, it looked more angry.
She kicked off her heels as she spun onto her knees and tried to book it down the alley. But she heard rather than saw a set of heavy hooves clatter behind her before a wall of weight smashed atop her, toppling her to the wet ground. Her jaw hit the brick so hard her ears rang and she struggled to find purchase to push up but there was absolutely no budge.
